RACECOURSE VILLAGE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1110m
Lennic is the likely leader at a slick tempo. Tony Gollan holds the key, headed by INSTAGOOD (12) who was five-weeks between runs when a fast-finishing third over this course and distance in a Class 3 a fortnight ago. Will improve on that run and off the back of a strong tempo she will be hard to hold out. Stablemate CERTAINLYCAN (13) went to the front in new tactics last time out and kept going to easily account for her Class 1 rivals over this distance at Ipswich. Meets a better field here but her figure in that win suggests she is up to this. Angela Jones is a key booking. Another Gollan runner in DEER TRAIL (8) failed to threaten when returning from a fourteen-month lay-off here at this trip a fortnight ago. Best form makes him competitive so he deserves another chance. Lightly raced four-year-old THANKYOU HENRY (5) opens his third campaign in a suitable race. SUGGESTED PLAY: Instagood to win. |

GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 2200m
Expecting Hadouken and Wapiti to press forward and set the tempo. Most of these bring plain form to the race or are resuming, but DIABLO BOLT (6) is the exception. Opened this prep with back-to-back wins then got a long way back after missing the kick then charged home to grab second over 2050m at the Gold Coast last time. Flies for Jag G-C who has four wins from six rides. Clear top pick. HADOUKEN (4) showed a glimmer of form last start when he led but tired late and was beaten 3.4 lengths over the mile at this track. Drops sharply in the weights and is in need of this sort of trip after three runs back from a spell. WAPITI (7) found 1600m too short at Eagle Farm last Saturday. Veteran who is well in after the claim and should be about the mark. TAPILDOODLEDO (2) is fitter for two runs back and can improve sharply. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Diablo Bolt. |

SKY RACING QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 2YO Colts & Geldings Handicap 1110m
Pretty Dubious to take charge ahead of Betterlucknexttime at a good tempo. The main hopes chased Sunrays home here at this trip a fortnight ago. PRETTY DUBIOUS (2) led that day and have a kick but couldn't hold off the winner when making his debut. Sure to take a lot hit-out and appeals as the one to beat. BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME (1) won two from two in the Spring then was spelled. Raced handy but tired late to finish fourth when resuming in the Sunrays race. Can improve with that run under the belt with senior jockey Ryan Wiggins going on. TORO CHASE (8) won his trial at the Sunshine Coast by panels and looks very slick, while David Vandyke's PENROD (6) also bolted in on the same morning. The latter has come up favourite and is clearly very talented. SUGGESTED PLAY: Pretty Dubious on top, but plenty of respect for the unraced runners if the money comes. |

GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 2YO Fillies Handicap 1110m
Tricky one to map with a large contingent of first starters but expect good early pressure. The Gollan-trained IMPERVIOUS (3) lived up to the $1.55 starting price when a comfortable debut winner over 800m at Ipswich thirty-eight days ago. Subsequently beat today's rival Vivika in a trial. Can go on with the job despite the rise in class. SUNRAYS (1) has started favourite and collected the prize at both starts to date, each time over this course and distance. Took the step from midweek to Saturday grade last time and can go to a new level again. Robert Heathcote's debutante CARBONARA (7) cruised to victory in her only trial. Bred to be slick and looks ready to back that up. Another first starter in ALL GLASS (6) easily won a Sunshine Coast trail recently and from gate one is a live chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Impervious. |

BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1615m
Strong tempo from Calm Seeker, Jonny Da Wolf and Brentwood.
Hard race. The consistent WHO ORDERED DAFISH (20) returned to the winner's list last start in a Class 2 over 1680m at Ipswich. Drawn to enjoy a perfect run and gets in well with Collis' claim. WINSOME STAR (10) added to a frustrating run of runner-up cheques when he closed hard but left it too late over 1200m at this track a fortnight ago. This trip is a slight query but he did finish second over 1519m at Moonee Valley last prep. TAKE A PICTURE (13) continues to race well without threatening, the latest effort a barnstorming fourth over 1350m at this circuit. Filled a placing the only time he was stretched to this distance. Right in the mix. The lightly raced SHADOW POWER (15) caught the eye over the mile here recently. Drawn to get the gun run and when presented will be hard to hold out. LIONEL (2) is back in trip and last won nearly three years ago but he has been competitive at stakes level which puts him ahead of this field class-wise. SUGGESTED PLAY: Who Ordered Dafish each-way in a real test for punters. |

XXXX BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1200m
Hellish and Amore Veloce to take up the running at a strong tempo.
MINTAKA LAD (6) was a bit easy in betting but defied the drift to charge home late and miss by a narrow margin last start in a Class 4 here at this trip. Track and distance specialist who draws a better gate today. Carried 60kgs to victory here last prep and is ideally placed to repeat the effort. HURTS SO GOOD (5) was most impressive winning first-up at Eagle Farm then took on a better race at this track a fortnight ago and wasn't disgraced. Well weighted after Lang's claim and at the third run back should be ready to peak. MAXIMUM VORTEX (1) was three lengths off the leader at the 100m but still got up in an astonishing win over 1110m here recently. This looks a shade tougher but the longer trip suits and a 39% winning strike rate cannot be ignored. READY FOR ANYTHING (12) has been about the mark all prep and should be at his best at the fourth run back. ZOUPERB (11) rated highly in a return to form here last time. Must be included. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mintaka Lad is ready to win. |

LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 3YO Handicap 1110m
Hearts Are Better, The Gambling Greek and Astapor to match motors but there will be other pressure.
SURPRISE HONEY (6) only beat a Class 1 field here a fortnight ago, but the manner of the 2.2 length win was impressive, as was stopping the clock at 1.08 and change. Back in trip but she has good gate speed and looks a winning hope again. COSMO CENTAURUS (7) returned from a twenty-four-week spell and maintained his unbeaten record when successful in a Saturday metro 1000m dash at the Sunshine Coast. Tricky draw is a concern but he can keep raising the bar. THE GAMBLING GREEK (3) hasn't appeared since he edged out Surprise Honey over 1200m at Eagle Farm five weeks ago. Promising youngster who should enjoy the perfect run from an inside draw and will probably look the winner at some stage. The flying HEARTS ARE BETTER (13) has been kept fresh since a win over 800m at Ipswich eight weeks ago. Will lead and give backers a sight - the last 100m is the worry. PETTICOAT (5) has been thereabouts since a huge first-up win at the Gold Coast. In the mix from a handy gate. SUGGESTED PLAY: Surprise Honey can salute again. |

MORETON HIRE OPEN Handicap 1200m
Manhood should lead at a keen tempo. A host of chances. HATCHET (9) was enormous first-up at the Sunshine Coast then wasn't beaten far but might have been a shade flat in a similar race here behind Safework last start. Wins 50% of the time here at 1200m and can add to that record from his ideal draw. MASTER SHOWMAN (12) returned from an eighteen-week break with a barnstorming win over this distance here recently. Up in class but he usually holds the form second-up and with a substantial weight drop today he is right in the picture. TECTONIC PLATE (14) chimed in late but found 1000m a bit sharp at the Gold Coast last start. The winner of five from eight at this journey so from gate one she will have admirers. KING KAPA (3) put in a much better performance last start and shapes as one of the main chances if able to repeat. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hatchet each-way. |

STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW Class 6 Plate 1350m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Atmosphere crossing from the outside gate.
CORFE CASTLE (1) was scratched from Race 8 over 1200m to be kept for this. Appreciated the drop in grade when he stalked the pace then proved a shade too good for Space Tracker last start in a BM85 here at this trip. At his best under this scenario so there is no reason he cannot repeat that effort. SPACE TRACKER (8) turned ahead of Corfe Castle at this track three weeks back but just failed to hold him off in a tight finish. Enjoys a 3kgs weight swing here. Track specialist who can easily turn the tables with luck from a sticky gate. ZOOLOGY (14) has been freshened up since just missing the placings over 1400m at Eagle Farm five weeks ago. Eligible for easier races but at the weights he comes into calculations. LOST IN TRANSIT (4) has returned steady figures at his last three appearances, including a black type placing two back at the Sunshine Coast. Sure to give a good account. Perennial placegetter RED DEFCON (15) is racing well and must be tossed in the exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Corfe Castle to win again, with a saver on Space Tracker. |

LADBROKES COMMUNITIES OPEN Handicap - ***WEIGHTS RAISED 1.0*** 1615m
Solid tempo set by Devastate and Kipling's Journey.
DEVASTATE (8) was heavy backed second-up last Saturday over 1400m at Eagle Farm but just went under after a two-horse duel with Irish Songs. Has won three from four when third-up. Like the quick back-up over the extra furlong. Ready to win. KRONENBOURG (4) started very short but after giving up the lead was disappointing last time out in a similar race here. Has a marvellous record at this distance so with a smart claim he can turn that form around. DUNE FORTY FIVE (2) defeated some of today's key rivals convincingly here a fortnight ago. Goes up 2.5kgs and not sure there is any improvement there, but he should be competitive again. JETTY (9) led for home but was swamped late and missed the placings under 60.5kgs in a BM85 at Eagle Farm last weekend. Should give them something to catch with 6.5kgs less today. FLYING TRAPEZE (5) chased Dune Forty Five home here last start. Can close that gap under today's weight scale. SUGGESTED PLAY: Confidant Devastate can win the last. |
