HRC MOTEL CLASS 1 HANDICAP - HEAT OF THE RISING STAR 1000m
Expecting Royal Commodore to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sharp trip. MAIKROW (4) lightly raced gelding who motored late on resumption when a narrow second over 1000m at Canberra. Blinkers go on for this from the inside draw. No excuses with the sharp weight drop. IDOLISED (5) smart Zoustar filly resuming. Went out a winner at start two from the wide draw over this track and trip last October. Had the two mixed trials and looks well placed with Fitzgerald's 3kg claim. Genuine top-three prospect. ROYAL COMMODORE (1) big jump in grade at second race start when scoring a tough on-pace victory over 1000m at Randwick Kensington. Nock rides again with the claim and sure to be thereabouts. HOT JIVE (7) began poorly and never in the contest when a plugging sixth over 1100m here at her second run back. Drops in class and another who will benefit with the claim. SUGGESTED PLAY: Maikrow to take stopping. |

XXXX GOLD SUPER MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
Solid tempo anticipated with Tomcat Flowers heading them off. WILLIE OPPA (7) strengthened up over the lengthy break when he returned with an eye-catching fourth to Spaceballs over 1200m at Warwick Farm. Would have come on further now and the extra trip is in his favour. Goes close. PATISSIER (5) Proisir gelding from a Jimmy Choux mare on debut for the O'Shea and Charlton yard. Finished off strongly in both trials and look for him attacking the line. Each way. SUPREME STATEMENT (6) disappointed on resumption when stalking the good tempo and failing to go on with it to run sixth over Warwick Farm. Blinkers added and expect to see him ridden with more intent. ELEGANT ARTIST (9) fitter now after being outsprinted in the straight when returned with a plugging fourth over 1250m at Canterbury. Likely improver out to the 1400m. SUGGESTED PLAY: Willie Oppa to get off the mark. |

ELITE SAND & SOIL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
Solid tempo with The Mona Lisa possessing enough dash to find the front. INDECISIVE (1) seven start maiden resuming after placing in town last preparation. Given two trials in readiness for this and finds a very weak maiden to get off the mark from the low draw. THE FORT (8) Godolphin filly who comes up from Victoria with a fitness edge over some of these. Motored late from the wide gate when a narrow third over 1000m at Werribee. Clearly developed further and no shock to see her settle a little closer to the speed. Genuine contender. RARE MOON (11) frustrating filly who chipped away late on resumption when an even fifth over 900m at Muswellbrook. A repeat of her latest performance will see her take a hand in the finish. POWER OVERREACH (5) never comfortable in the heavy (8) going when returning with a battling fourth over 1000m at Nowra. Gets some nice weight relief with the claim and adds value to the exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Indecisive to win. |

THE LAWN SHED MIDWAY 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a genuine tempo. INSPIRED STAR (4) drifted in betting on debut when a plugging fifth over 1000m at Scone. Extra trip in his favour and expecting a much better effort from the good gate. WHERE'S MY HALO (8) Hallowed Crown filly from Bellissima on debut for the Quinton stable. Has shown improvement in both her trials this time in and has the ability to take a hand in the finish. WHILE SHE CAN (9) Hallowed Crown filly by Jo Jo Girl on debut for the John Thompson yard. Has shown improvement in her two latest trials. Gets her chance from the draw. EMPUSA (11) returns after failing to fire in three runs last prep. Fitted with the one good 1000m trial win and capable of taking a hand in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Inspired Star to win. |

PIONEER SERVICES CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1300m
Not a great deal of pressure likely in the small field, with Run Rory Run a potential leader. SUMO STAR (5) kept fresh and back in his right class when charging late after hanging out for an unlucky third over 1200m at Kembla Grange. Has a good record at this course and the extra trip is in his favour with winning rider back aboard. Will take holding out. RUN RORY RUN (7) tough on-pace third at Randwick Kensington two runs back, then completely outclassed when a fading ninth to Don Pedro over 1400m at Warwick Farm. Grima rides again from the good draw and this looks a far more suitable contest. ROYAL BOMBADIER (8) relished the drop in grade and step up in distance when a fighting second over 1200m at Kembla Grange. Expected to get the trip with the light weight. Each way. POWER BEAU (3) Tamworth gelding chasing his fourth straight win. Finally drawn a low gate and not to be underestimated in this grade. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sumo Star to go close. |

RICHMOND CLUB F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1300m
Mahogany Girl has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. Small field with plenty of chances. MANHATTAN'S (5) had excuses second-up when jumping sharply in class from the wide draw with a plugging last over this trip in BM78 grade at Randwick. Mare with upside expected to bounce back from the low draw. RED HOT LIZZIE (3) mixed it up in town this time in and drops back a level today in peak fitness. Snagged back from the sticky draw and never a genuine winning chance when sixth over 1400m at Warwick Farm. Best form is good enough to see her take a hand in the finish. JAEX (1) thereabouts in stronger company in town of late behind some handy types. Was a month between runs when holding on to run fourth over 1400m at Warwick Farm on January 27. Further improved with the claim in this easier race. Each way. IMPULSIVITY (2) returns from a 43-day let-up after taking good ground off Husk when third over 1200m at Warwick Farm. That form has since been franked and expected to see her closer to the speed. Ready to win. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 5,3,1,2. |

POLYTRACK PROVINCIAL-MIDWAY CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER (PROV/MIDWAY) 1400m
Magnatear is expected to cross from a wide gate and lead. HARLOW MIST (9) fitter now and gets the tempo to suit after taking good ground off Oh Diamond Lil over 1600m at Randwick in a solid rating race last time out. Senior rider on and good enough to finish over the top of these. HIGH BLUE SEA (2) in top form this prep and reunites with Nash Rawiller. Tried hard but no match for the classy Yorkshire over the 1500m at Rosehill. This looks more to his liking with the visors going on. OVERRIDING (5) underrated mare good enough to win this at her second run back. Surged late on resumption when a close-up eighth over 1200m at Rosehill. Has good second-up stats and looking for this trip now. RAPT (8) progressive mare who returns from a let-up. Massive run when snagged back from the sticky draw before circling the field when a slashing seventh in The Wave over 1800m on the Sunshine Coast. Watch for her late. The chances don't end there. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 9,2,5,8. |

CLARENDON TAVERN PROVINCIAL BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 2000m
Solid tempo with several going forward headed by Sunset Park. SUNSET PARK (7) lightly-raced UK-bred mare with a ton of ability. Bounced off her good debut first-up second, with a tenacious on-pace victory over 1600m at Kembla Grange in good time. Finds a fairly average field today and can keep raising the bar in her first prep. VIESTE (5) returned to form at her last two outings and indicated a win was imminent. Stalked the tempo and kept coming on the line when a gritty third to Oh Diamond Lil over 1600m at Randwick. Has won twice over the 1850m and no excuses today from the draw. Leading contender. GULF OF TOMINI (8) has been frustrating this campaign and go on his second three back when assessing his chances at Port Macquarie. Has a good association with Mollie Fitzgerald and drops nicely in the weights. Each way. MADAM RUPEE (10) stretches out to this trip for the first time after chipping away late when fourth over 1600m at Nowra. Latham sticks and she gets the gun run with the visors going on. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sunset Park to win again. |
