MESSALINA (2) tried hard when finishing a long neck second of eight over 1400m last time at Turffontein Standside. She has placed in all of her last three starts and rates well as a leading chance. GREEN STREET (1) set the pace over 1400m last time out when well supported but found one too good on the day. Jumping from an inside draw may be hard to peg back. GIMME A CALL (7) has run two fair races to date. She finished third of eight last start and it must be noted that the horse that finished third in that race has since come out and won. She has scope and with a bit of luck in the running can finish in the money., |

He is racing in top form having won three of his last five starts and placed second in the other two. Jumping from a good draw of four looks well placed to go back-to-back. QUANTUM THEORY (5) ran a good race when second of nine over 1160m last time. He has won once and finished second four times from eight starts on this course. Jumps from an inside draw and should be finishing in the first three. MOUNT PILATUS (6) is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1160m at Turffontein Standside. He resumes from a spell and having won fresh-up over 1200m at this track is well worth considering. ICE STAR (4) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1000m at Turffontein Standside when finishing eighth of 12. She races well over today's trip and jumping from an inside draw looks well placed in this line-up to return to form. |

Has been freshened up since that last start run and with Gavin Lerena taking over the reins rates well as a leading chance. WILD INTENT (2) is better than his last start run when finishing ninth of 11 over 1800m would suggest. He finished third in his only previous run at this track and racing over 300m less in distance today should be fighting out the finish. CALANTHA (6) is racing in strong form this prep having won once and placed three times from her four starts, including last time out over 1400m when finishing third of eight at Turffontein Standside when well supported. Jumping from an inside draw and over a longer trip has winning claims. PEACE TREATY (7) hit the frame two starts back at Vaal but disappointed last start when finishing sixth of seven over 1450m at Vaal when well supported. Worth another chance. |
