Slick tempo with Gattina to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. PAX MUNDI (2) set the pace when making her South Island debut here nearly 2 weeks ago, and she only blew out of condition late, finishing sixth. The Terri Rae stable usually get immediate results with similar horses, and with a drop in class from the pole position, she can take them all the way this time. POWEROFPERSUASION (3) is a stablemate of the top pick making her South Island debut and she has won a recent Ashburton trial. She may already be looking for more ground, but watch for her to be steaming home late. CELTIC BLING (6) has found it hard to win another race, but she is holding her form well, with a bunch of fourth place finishes in similar fields. A wide gate is no help, but she is well worth including in all top 4 combos again. NOVELETTE (7) is another consistent filly who has held her form since winning her maiden at Ashburton in March. A good draw and having Bruno Queiroz in the saddle, make her one of the toughest to beat again. RED STAR SOOT (4) has top 4 claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Pax Mundi can win this, and Powerofpersuasion for the quinella.
