SPECIAL X (3) is racing well this preparation, including a last start win over 1200m at Monbetsu to bring up three wins from five runs in the campaign. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Among the leading chances. STEEL ACTOR (12) finished second two runs back then improved last time out to score by 4 lengths as favourite over 920m at Nagoya. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he deserves plenty of thought. TAGANO ESCORT (7) was in contention on the bend and finished second last time over 1400m at this track, beaten one length. Going up a level this time but he cannot be ruled out. FERN HILL (8) finished seventh when first-up from a spell last start over 1200m at Ohi after racing on the pace for much of the way. Fitter and cannot be underestimated.
