Genuine tempo with the speedy Hughie leading the way. REGINA D'ORO (8) showed nice speed to break the maiden in emphatic style first-up and was then stepped straight up to 62 grade, which she found beyond her. This is a much more suitable assignment and she has the speed to take up a forward position, which can be advantageous around here. SURPRISATIC (11) is another who was unplaced after a good maiden win but hit the line well last start, so the extra distance suits and he shouldn't get as far back. SOPHAST (1) was scratched from Geelong on Friday to be saved for this but connections would have been dismayed to land the outside alley. Can still play a role with the right run, though. ERMINIA (12) probably needs to lift on recent runs but gets the chance to do that from the inside alley and will be nearing peak fitness. THE WIZARD KING (2) will give himself every chance on-speed, as he always does. SUGGESTED PLAY: Regina D'oro to win.
