Always plenty of early pressure in sprint races such as this with a large representation of unraced runners. VILLA ROYALE (12) worked hard to get handy last start at Echuca and fought on bravely to hold third, continuing her recent good run of form. She has copped another wide gate but is still on the up with her fitness and is poised to break through at short notice. ASPENADO (9) had put together a brace of second placings prior to failing in Group 2 company in her final run last spring. She is drawn perfectly for her return and will be hard to beat in her rightful grade fresh up. GOING NUCLEAR (4) had a couple of runs earlier in the season and made some good progress, with a second fresh up and following that effort up with a solid fourth at Sale. His recent spell would have done him the world of good and he is a winning threat fresh up. MEASURED (8) got too far back off a wide draw last time out at Bendigo and made up some late ground without looking like a winning chance. She can settle closer to the pace from a superior gate this time and is ready to put her best hoof forward here. SUGGESTED PLAY: Measured each-way.
