NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:00 The Les Carlyon 1100m
Hot pace certain with Pondalowie, Sea Mist and Fallen keen to take up the running. HEARCOMESTHESTAR (2) was fourth to a smart mare on resumption at Pakenham over 1000m before atoning over the same circuit second-up with a smart win, coming away nicely when well supported. She showed good promise last time in against top fillies and can take this out. PEACE TREATY (1) has been below her best at her past two but looks far better suited back to benchmark grade here. Her wins prior promised plenty. Give her another chance. LINKS (4) is racing well, placing at her past two. No easier here but she should be competitive again. FALLEN (7) is a lightly raced type with some promise. D Lane taking the ride is a big plus. FAVANNA (10) won her maiden at Cranbourne last time out and could measure up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hearcomesthestar to win.
2 01:35 Flt Lt Peter Armytage Handicap 1100m
Plenty of pace likely from River Noire and Miss Mucinni battling for the lead from Niance. NIANCE (7) has won both starts since coming to Australia and under the care of Grahame Begg, winning dominantly over 1200m at Sandown-Lakeside last time out. She's got good speed and looks a mare that continues through the grades. LITTLE MISS KUBI (1) wasn't far away in a bunched finish first up at this track and distance behind a smart one. Fitter for that and back to her own sex here. Rates well. RIVER NOIRE (4) should be ready to peak with two runs back. She was close up at Caulfield last start and can figure. DAZZLING LUCY (2) resumes. She'll be better over a little bit further but has the class to get into the finish. I CHOOSE YOU (6) comes over from New Zealand with solid form and the ratings to be competitive.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Niance to win again.
3 02:10 William Newton VC Handicap 2500m
Teofilo Star should be able to comfortably find the front. DOUBLE CHERRY (3) comes through the strongest race here and looks well placed. He won well at BM78 grade at Wyong two back and then ran very well for 3rd in the G2 Chairman's Stakes behind eventual Sydney Cup winner Circle Of Fire. Will be very hard to catch. GARACHICO (5) stepped up to this trip at Morphettville third-up and just found one better. Should be at peak fitness and can give this a shake. SAMUEL LANGHORNE (6) has won two in a row in easier grade. No reason he can't measure up. PRISMATIC (7) can improve.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Double Cherry on top.
4 02:45 Colonel Sybil Irving MBE 1400m
Solid tempo anticipated with Liberty State taking charge. LIBERTY STATE (9) couldn't have been much more impressive in her past two starts, winning by a cumulative 12.5 lengths. Up in grade again but looks one that can continue through the ranks and win again. POIFECT (10) resumed with a strong run at Sandown-Lakeside, finishing second when beaten narrowly. Fitter for the rise in trip and her form last time in was very promising. INTREPID EAGLE (5) has run second in his past two efforts and the horses to have beaten him are strong benchmarks. Looks well-placed again and should be competitive. ZAMBORGHINI (2) is fresh for this. The third to Another Wil two starts back is very good form. This looks a good trip for him. HARD TO CROSS (4) can resume with a good run.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Liberty State to win again.
5 03:23 ANZAC Day Stakes 1400m
Strong early tempo with Yaldi and Feroce leading the way over Epimeles. RUE DE ROYALE (1) brings the A-1 form to this and if he's got more to offer he'll take beating. He struggled in the Golden Slipper last start but the run here prior in the G2 VRC Sires behind Traffic Warden was excellent. Back out to 1400m is ideal and Lane on from the good draw helps. YES LULU (4) is a maiden but has placed in all three runs to date behind some handy types. Now to 1400m but that looks to suit. Can break through. FEROCE (2) has won both starts to date, beating a subsequent winner last start at Caulfield. He'll roll forward again and take catching. BISDEE (7) has been good in two runs to date and should relish this trip now. EPIMELES (3) looks the pick of the last-start maiden winners and can measure up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Rue De Royale to win.
6 03:55 VRC St Leger 2800m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Ganbare and Plastic Dreams matching motors. On form, GANBARE (1) is clearly the one to beat. Two starts back he was 4th, beaten 1.3 lengths in the G1 Rosehill Guineas behind Riff Rocket. He struggled in testing conditions in the Derby but firmer ground will suit. He just needs to run the trip out and has a very good stable to prepare him for that. CHEROKEE BRAVE (4) has the right grounding for this. He was good in third last start in a good staying test at Caulfield. Will have no issue with the trip and should be hard to hold out. ALMA RISE (12) is the one with upside. Good on debut, she was dominant over 2000m at Pakenham last start, albeit in maiden grade. Lack of seasoning perhaps her biggest issue. AHURIRI (11) should have no issue with this trip and rates an each-way hope. IMPUNITY (5) next best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ganbare to win.
7 04:30 WGCDR Ian Bayles DFC 1600m
Pace on from the outset with Ziryab and General Assembly pushing forward. Open race. SPLASH BACK (12) is a progressive mare who won well first-up and backed it up with a strong placing in a handy BM78 behind Legacies over this trip last time out. Open to further improvement and can take this out. FURIOUS (3) should relish getting to this trip now having been very good in two runs back over shorter. He's always promised a bit and looks to find a nice race here. AMLETO (9) is a UK import with Ciaron Maher who was solid at his Australian debut at Yarra Valley. Fitter for that and can improve. OUR EMPRESS ZOE (15) should be ready to peak now third-up with Shinn going on. ZIRYAB (2) won at his Australian debut and can measure right up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Splash Back on top.
8 05:05 Auckland Thoroughbred Racing Inc. Trophy 1100m
Field Of Flutes and Elouyou to take up the running at a strong tempo. ELOUYOU (12) resumes. He won two on the bounce at Geelong prior to his first spell and looked very smart winning by over 3 lengths when going straight from maiden to BM70 grade. Talented horse who can measure right up with D Lane booked to ride. FLYING ON A LIMB (9) was good first-up before an even effort in a bunched finish at this track and trip last start. Won't need to improve much to take this out. DIRECT (1) comes back from a listed placing at Oakbank. Certainly up to winning this at his best. VELOCE CARRO (10) resumes. He's a consistent type who has form around some handy horses. Respect. ZION (11) can improve off a solid first-up run.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Elouyou to win.
