1 09:50 Maiden Race 1800m
CUMBERLAND (13) held on well to finish third when first-up from a break last time out over 1800m at Chukyo Dirt after leading for much of the way. Well placed and will take catching. IT'S NOTHING (8) is close to breaking through after two consecutive placings, the latest coming when third over 1700m at Fukushima Dirt. Sits handy in the run. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. FAIENCE (14) improved last start when second, beaten 1.3 lengths, over 1800m at Nakayama Dirt. Speedy beginner who can overcome the wide barrier. Expected to give a great sight. SOKYU (3) raced below her best last time when ninth over 1800m at Nakayama Dirt, beaten 11 lengths. Well placed and should be thereabouts.
2 10:15 Maiden Race 1200m
SANDORO NIGHT (13) resumes from a spell of 12 weeks. Looked close to a win before that break, finishing off with a minor placing over 1200m at Kokura. Rates on top and is a great chance to break through. BOURBON QUEEN (4) gave a great sight last time, leading into the lane and boxing on well for a close third over 1200m at Fukushima when well supported. That made it three minor placings from three runs this preparation. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Best form puts her right in this. MIKKI CANDLE (15) was in the firing line on the bend and finished third last start at the first run back from a spell over 1200m at Fukushima, beaten 2 lengths. In the right race and is a key runner. VASILOPAIS (12) was in contention on the corner and finished second last time over 1200m at Fukushima when resuming from a spell, beaten one length. Will trim down second-up. Capable of another bold effort.
3 10:45 Maiden Race 1800m
BEL BEST RUNNER (1) did a good job last start to finish third at Nakayama Dirt over 1800m, beaten 1.3 lengths. No excuses from this draw; leading player. REGATTA (2) ran below expectations last time at Chukyo Dirt, finishing fifth and beaten 10 lengths starting at $7. Likely improver with strong prospects. KITSUNENO YOMEIRI (7) resumed from a spell last start with a sound third over 1700m at Fukushima Dirt after being in contention on the bend. Placed to advantage so expect a forward showing. MIRAIENO CALL (12) was a long way back last start but hit the line well to finish sixth, beaten 5.5 lengths, over 2000m at Fukushima. Should prove tough to hold out.
4 11:15 Maiden Race 2890m
JIRO (11) was unplaced first-up in a maiden steeplechase (2860m) at Kokura. Improved and found the frame last start, beaten 0.8 lengths, in a maiden steeplechase (2750m) at Fukushima. Sure to prove hard to beat. TEN MAJOR GIRL (10) finished sixth two back in a maiden steeplechase (2860m) at Kokura. Bounced back last time to fill a minor placing, beaten 1.75 lengths, in a maiden steeplechase (2750m) at Fukushima. Close to breaking through. KITANO BLADE (3) did fairly well when he finished second in a maiden steeplechase (2860m) at Kokura two runs back. Less effective last time when 18 lengths away in eighth in a maiden steeplechase (2770m) at Fukushima. Expect a return to form. JUNE YOSHITSUNE (9) could only manage to finish sixth 14 days back in a maiden steeplechase (2770m) at Fukushima. That result followed a solid third in a maiden steeplechase (2860m) at Kokura two starts ago. Will be tough to beat.
5 12:05 Maiden Race 1800m
LUX MAVERICK (4) went forward and gave a great sight before finishing second last time out over 2000m at Chukyo. Drawn to take a nice trail just off the speed. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. DIGA LEGEND (9) has recorded three minor placings from three runs this preparation. 2.25 lengths from the winner in third at the latest outing over 2000m at Chukyo. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. COLLEGIUM (3) raced once in the maiden preparation when sixth at Hanshin over 2000m back on December 2. Will be better for that run and is expected to go well. OMEGA IMPERIAL (13) was close to a maiden win before a nine weeks break, finishing off with a placing over 1800m at Kokura. Has a wide gate to overcome. Has ability and must be included in calculations.
6 12:35 Allowance Race 1800m
MEISHO COUGAR (8) raced on the speed last start and battled on well but found one better over 1800m at Hanshin Dirt. Yuji Nakai has been in the money at the last six rides. Leading contender. CONTAINER JUNIOR (10) met with solid support last start over 1900m at Chukyo Dirt when fifth, beaten 6 lengths. Well-placed to make amends. LUXE STEEL (15) is yet to fill a placing in two runs since resuming from a spell, the latest when sixth over 1700m at Fukushima Dirt after he was in the firing line on the turn. Cherry-ripe now and will be tough to beat. FLIPPER (1) returns from a spell of four months. Was safely held at the only appearance last prep when seventh over 1800m at Nakayama Dirt. Makes plenty of appeal.
7 01:05 Allowance Race 1400m
CALLING YOU (8) was last at the races when she finished second over 1200m at Kokura on March 2. Now under the care of new trainer Taiki Chaki. Goes well fresh and will be tough to hold out. SOUND LAYLA (12) turned in a good performance last time over 1200m at Fukushima, finishing 1.75 lengths from the winner in third after she was always up in the leading division. Won't be bothered by this longer journey. Among the leading chances. SATONO WILLE (14) last appeared when he finished fifth over 1600m at Tokyo Dirt on November 5. Has found the right race and is worth including. HECTOPASCAL (3) returned from a spell eight weeks ago when she was beaten 1.3 lengths into sixth over 1400m at Chukyo. Likely improver with top-three prospects.
8 01:35 Allowance Race 1800m
HAWAIIAN TIME (11) is a promising type still in first campaign but off to a great start to career. Put together five wins on the run in easier company before finishing in the minors last time when second at Tokyo. Key chance and expected to go close. SUPERMAN (6) finished 1.2 lengths from the winner in fourth last start over 1800m at Nakayama, an improvement on his fifth at Nakayama the run before. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot find winning ways. SUCCESS PULSE (4) is yet to fill a placing in two runs since resuming from a spell, the latest when sixth over 1800m at Nakayama after he was in the firing line on the bend. Has further improvement to come and is expected to do much better. DELICIEUX REINE (7) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 2400m at Nakayama Dirt, beaten 9 lengths. Strips fitter and should be thereabouts.
9 02:05 SAKIHANA TOKUBETSU 1800m
AULOS (6) was on a winning run of two races but last time out finished second over 1800m at Kyoto Dirt. Can find winning form again. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Sure to be in the finish. METEOR LIGHT (12) finished third last time over 1800m at Nakayama Dirt when resuming from a spell, beaten 2.5 lengths. Finds a tougher race but a big run will not surprise. OSHIGE (15) ran below expectations last time at Hanshin Dirt over 1800m, finishing fourth and beaten 2 lengths. Goes well at this trip, recording five minor placings and deserves respect.
10 02:40 SHUMPU STAKES 1000m
ECORO REGINA (3) finished second over 1200m at Kokura at her most recent appearance on February 25. Yet to win fresh but won only try at the track and trip. Strong chance to kick the campaign off on the right note. BOUKEPHALAS (14) missed the placings first up recently but was not too far from the winner when fifth over 1200m at Nakayama. Races well when second-up. Expected to feature in the finish. SANTEE TESORO (8) was safely held when resuming last start over 1200m at Nakayama, finishing 15th and beaten 7 lengths. Has good early speed so should take up a forward position. Will be in this for a long way. KAFUJI TETRAGON (15) last appeared on February 25 when a good sixth over 1200m at Kokura, beaten 2.75 lengths. Makes plenty of appeal.
11 03:20 THE NIIGATA DAISHOTEN 2000m
LEBENSSTIL (15) is a grade 2 winner resuming. Didn't make an impact at his only run last prep on December 10 finishing eighth and beaten 12 lengths over 2400m in the G1 Longines Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin. Should settle just off the speed despite the draw. Much better placed this time and expected to be in the finish. YOHO LAKE (1) showed good early speed when resuming last start before boxing on well and finishing third, beaten 6 lengths, over today's trip in the G2 Kinko Sho at Chukyo. This is an easier assignment and can take this out. KING'S PALACE (13) built on a nice third when fresh from a spell two starts back at Nakayama with a win as favourite over 2000m at Nakayama five weeks ago, getting home by a neck. Must raise the bar but another big run will not surprise. BRAVE ROCKER (8) found the line nicely last start to get up for second over 2600m at Hanshin. Settles back early but winds up late. A big run is expected.
12 04:00 Allowance Race 1200m
HULK BAROWS (2) comes here off a break of five months. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a spell last time in work over 1200m at this track. Doesn't win often but has the ability and gets chance. SEKITEI O (3) also finds it hard to win with just one success from 19 starts. Again tasted defeat last start when fifth over 1150m at Fukushima Dirt, beaten 2.75 lengths. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run. SCHWARZ GEIST (4) is back from a break of ten weeks. Raced below par at his only appearance last prep when seventh over 1200m at Hanshin Dirt. Has found a suitable race and is worth including. REGINA ROSE (10) finished second last start over 1150m at Fukushima Dirt when she worked home well, beaten 1.3 lengths. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run again.
