SUNSHINE COAST   25 April 2024
NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:27 YOUNG VETERANS SUNSHINE COAST Class 3 Handicap 1800m
Strong tempo with Enterprise Lassie, Martedi and Prime Impact leading the way. WHO ORDERED DAFISH (8) dropped in class for an easy win at Ipswich last start. He will only be better over a middle-distance and if he strikes another wet track, he can win again. THESECONDATPORTSEA (4) won her first couple of starts this prep and then ran fourth at her last 2 starts in tougher company. She drops in class and has solid each-way claims again. PRIME IMPACT (1) is heading the right way as his fitness improves. He is only having his second start in Queensland and will relish the step up in journey here. He is ready to put his best hoof forward. MARTEDI (6) has finished third twice since winning at Ipswich at the end of February. He has 3.5 kilos less to carry this time and is good enough to take this out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Who Ordered Dafish to win.
2 02:02 ANZAC DAY Maiden Handicap 1200m
Good early pace from Pretty Little Liar and Peaceful Prince going forward to hold out some other speedy customers. PEACEFUL PRINCE (21) had 3 starts in Sydney for some handy results, including a second on debut at Kembla Grange. He has since changed stables and was runner-up in a recent trial. If the money is there, he will be hard to beat. MISS MOOV (6) is a stablemate of the top pick and finished a solid second on debut here on the poly track just over 3 weeks ago. Her trial form was good before that and with an extra furlong to travel this time, She can go one better. ANTILLES (15) did not help herself by making a slow start last time out and was sent back to the trials where she scored by a neck. She has a motor and if she can bring her trial form to the races, she will be right in the finish. DARE I SAY (12) is building her form and was a solid third at long odds last time out on this track. She has a better draw this time and is capable of taking this out. PRINCE OF PROPHETS (7) was a beaten favourite here last start in a heavy track. He is worth another chance. Follow your money.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Miss Moov each-way.
3 02:37 LEST WE FORGET BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200m
Wonderful Rayray to take charge ahead of Boom Boom Basil at a solid tempo. WONDERFUL RAYRAY (11) is back with his original trainers after a couple of starts at Morphettville earlier in the year. He is better at racing clockwise and has a great chance to return to his best form again. Follow any market moves. SELOUS (8) was running on late at Ipswich last start over 1100 metres and will be peaking third up. He might not get as far back from an inside gate and with the blinkers on for the first time he is ready to show some worthwhile form. Can win. THE LIONESS (7) just battled fresh up in her first run for the David Vandyke stable and should improve quickly second up at an easier level. She has a good track record and is not out of this. Each-way value. ANEMACORE (9) did not miss a cheque in his initial prep, winning 2 of his 4 starts earlier in the season. He will be even stronger this this time in and has had a recent trial to improve his fitness. This journey is well short of his best but he is likely to be charging home and should not be underestimated.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Anemacore each-way.
4 03:13 CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000m
Genuine pace from the outset. KING YOSHI (3) resumed with a big effort for fourth here on a heavy track just under a fortnight ago in a 100K contest. He will find this a lot easier and with James Orman retaining the ride, he is clearly the one to beat, especially following a few key scratchings. BOOM BOOM BELLA (12) never got into the race first up but a key booking with Maloney going aboard and she shapes as the main danger. CICCONE (8) has placed at this track before and has trialled well in the lead up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: King Yoshi on top.
5 03:48 MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1000m
Anticipating a stack of early pressure with many of these two-year-olds facing the starter for the first time. CRYPTOSTAR (4) has been a 2-time winner at Rockhampton this prep and won his last race there by over 3 lengths nearly 6 weeks ago. He has been kept up to the mark with a placing at a recent trial and despite a wide draw here, he is still the one to beat again. SUN WORSHIPPER (14) won by a neck on debut at Rockhampton nearly 3 weeks ago and will be even more focused second up with that experience under her belt. She even has a kilo less to carry this time and another win is not beyond her. PARETO (10) has displayed good ability at the trials and is expected to make his presence felt on debut.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Cryptostar to win.
6 04:25 HIGGINS COATINGS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400m
Strong pace as Eskimo pushes forward. GREY ICE (12) won her maiden at Pakenham nearly 6 weeks ago by 4 lengths and has trekked North to Queensland to remain under the care of his trainer. She looked sharp when finishing second in a recent Deagon trial and will be ready to run a race in this. BETTERLETMEDANCE (3) has improved in each of her 2 starts this prep that have been in tougher company and she will notice the drop back in class third up here. She has not missed a cheque in a couple of starts on this track and with the advantage of pole position, she will be ready to put her best hoof forward in this. Can win. ESKIMO (11) was not far away in Stakes company 5 days ago and was a bold third at Ipswich before that. He is still learning what it is all about but if his mind is on the job, he is capable of taking this out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Betterletmedance each-way.
7 04:58 WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400m
Just an even tempo anticipated. HALF CROWN (7) ran a bold race fresh up for third as favourite at Doomben before not firing last time out at Ipswich where he did have an excuse after being caught wide throughout the run that day. He looked sharp when running third in a recent trial and can bounce back in this. Each way. GALACTIC LEGEND (10) was an overdue maiden winner by a nose at Doomben when resuming and then fought on bravely for third on the poly track here last start. The extra 300 metres is ideal third up and he is worth including in all multiples. VEANDECHANCE (4) has improved since dropping back in grade in her last couple of starts and is not without first-four claims again. DEAL AN ACE (16) was runner-up when resuming here on the poly track and the extra 300 metres is ideal. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Half Crown each-way.
8 05:33 TAB Class 1 Handicap 1400m
With the aid of the inside gate Loose Unit has the speed to lead a race lacking genuine early pace. LOOSE UNIT (2) tried hard when resuming and only came up short by a narrow margin when finishing second on this track 11 days ago. He is finding it hard to win another race but has a lot in his favour second up, including the pole position and he could get the job done this time. LI'L WONDER (14) caught the eye with a late finish at Doomben last start, finishing sixth. The extra furlong is ideal and with a better gate to use this time, she can figure in the finish. CHANGE THE DEEL (7) gives his local trainer a strong hand in this race and he had no luck on the poly track here last start after being trapped wide throughout. He can make amends in this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Loose Unit each-way.
