Just a modest pace in store without noted speed runners engaged. Siding with HEDGED (2) in our feature of the night. He resumes for a new stable, now with Gavin Bedggood who is excellent with tried horses. He didn't manage a win in three runs last time in but ran well, including a narrow third in the Hareeba to The Instructor and an unlucky War Machine. At his best, he's the one to beat and trusting the new camp to have him right to go. DAGGERS (8) was backed off the map first up at Moonee Valley but the plunge went astray as he could only manage third, beaten fairly by CHARCOALS (6) who notched up another win in the streak. Both have claims but Daggers could have more improvement to come. KLABEL (4) ran well fresh in a strong BM100 at Caulfield when third and 1200m should suit better. JIGSAW (3) won this in 2022 and was sound fresh. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hedged to win.
