Slick tempo with Canadian Express to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. The speedy CANADIAN EXPRESS (5) led but was swamped late and missed the frame over this distance at the Sapphire Coast recently. Gets some weight relief today and Penza replaces an apprentice. Three key scratchings rob this race of a lot of quality so he gets his chance. VALSPAR (1) has been in the quinella at all four runs this prep. Box-seated last start and tried his heart out but found one better last time out over this trip at Corowa. Huge chance with blinkers on for the first time. SUN 'N' SAND (6) found the line with gusto to salute on debut recently over 1200m at Queanbeyan. Looks ideally placed over the extra furlong so another big run is expected. THE IMPECKABLE (3) continued his fine form of late with a closing second over 1300m at Moree a fortnight ago. Sure to be about the mark again. LIQUOR TALK (8) is up in grade but capable of featuring with the blinkers back on. SUGGESTED PLAY: Canadian Express each-way.
