Keith has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. SOUL TAKER (4) has been about the mark at both runs this prep, the latest offering a close fourth over this distance at Canberra. Improved sharply at the third run back when last in work to score over a mile at Tamworth. Has a nice sense of timing. SAINT LOFT (5) got a long way back and never looked a chance in a Class 2 over 1400m here 13 days ago. Down in grade today and is looking for the mile. Big chance with the help of the inside gate. MAYFAIR HOTEL (7) did her best work late to get up for fourth over today's journey at Wagga recently. Up in class but drops 6kgs with the claim and should be peaking after two runs back. DOWNTOWN'S ABBEY (3) led but failed to run out a strong 2200m at Dubbo last start. Won a Class 1 over this distance at Cootamundra three starts ago - big chance on that form. KEITH (1) has a fine record at the mile and goes well here. Likely leader who will be tough to catch. SUGGESTED PLAY: Soul Taker on top in a competitive race.
