NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:40 ELITE SAND AND SOIL BOOT PRELUDE- 2YO HANDICAP 1100m
A field full of debutants which strongly suggests they will travel keenly. 2yo newcomers. BLAZING COURAGE (5) is at home and won a trial here by 8.2L. Draws a little awkwardly, but the nicely bred filly by Farnan is going to take plenty of beating. WORDS OF FIRE (4) is a colt by Outreach, and he went close in a Wyong trial. Jumps for the outside gate, but looks to have good ability and can fight out the finish. Ditto I'M A BEAUT (7), a first-starter by Exceedance from Katisam, who has produced a high percentage of winners-to-runners. Just missed in a recent trial at Kembla Grange. SIMPLY SONNET (8) is a two-year-old filly by Exceedance and has been fitted out with two provincial trials. Profiles well enough to consider. BIG LON (1) brings a near miss from a country trial and has the inside gate.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Blazing Courage appeals on what we've seen.
2 01:15 THE CASTLEREAGH HOTEL CLASS 1 & MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE 1600m
Expecting Himeros to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. Competitive. LAGOON (8) got off the mark over 1600m at this track last start, scoring by a long neck. Van Der Hoven retains the ride and the mare is a big chance to go back-to-back. THE BENTLEY (5) broke Maidens over 1400m at Tamworth last start and maps for a soft run. She won't have to improve much to make the finish. ALARTHILL (9) was a Muswellbrook Maiden winner two back and that stacks up. MAXIMUM RIDE (2) was outgraded at Scone but won his Maiden over 1400m at this track prior. Has the inside gate and the blinkers on for the first time. NUGGET SMART (3) made good improvement over 1400m at Tamworth and keeps the handy 3kg claim. Fitter again and consider.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Lagoon appeals most.
3 01:50 MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE 1400m
Despite the outside draw Narmer can take it up in what looks to be a low-pressure contest. NARMER (5) went close at Orange on debut before a 1L defeat at this track over 1300m. Will need some luck pushing forward from an awkward gate but he's ready to win. MISS MAVERICK (11) finished just ahead of the above in the same contest and was beaten 0.7L at Tamworth and Orange the two prior. She also draws wide but settles back in the running anyway and will be hitting the line hard. CASTRO (1) peaks and reckon his chances on his head defeat here two back over this trip. Was plainer at the track last time over a mile as a $2F. Deserves another chance. NIGHTWALKER (6) brings narrow defeats at this venue and maps for the run of the race. Keeps the 2kg claim and is in the mix. FORTIANS (2) won't be far away.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Narmer.
4 02:25 DUBBO CITY & GILGANDRA TOYOTA BENCHMARK 66 SHOWCASE HANDICAP 1600m
Sipping Shamus to take charge ahead of Yorkel at a strong tempo. Canberra-trained STRAIGHT FIRE (5) peals off a narrow defeat over 1600m at the Sapphire Coast. Placed at Wagga prior and from an inside barrier and with some weight relief, is well placed SIPPING SHAMUS (3) bounced straight back into the winners' stall, winning over 1400m at Scone. She will lead or box-seat from an inside barrier and will get every chance to see out the 1600m. CROWN LEGEND (4) peaks and is racing well. Did a good job from a wide gate at Mudgee last time, and he's won this course/distance. GREEN RUN (8) always puts in and won't be far away. Appeals dropping back to a Benchmark 66.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Straight Fire to win.
5 03:00 ARROWFIELD 3YO & UP SHOWCASE SUPER MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Solid pace with Hanuman showing out while Finest Art will also work across from an outside gate. HANUMAN (1) resumes for the new yard and brings strong form from Victoria. Has placed 2/2 fresh in better Maidens and the blinkers are applied for the first time. JVO is engaged and he'd only have to be near best to take this out. ZOYSIA (5) was expected to win here first-up but looked a run short. Has switched rom the Waller yard and is sure to have come on. Draws low and Nestor sticks. Has claims at a decent price. CAPTAINTHUNDERBOLT (6) debuts and has showed enough at the trials to suggest he's a chance. Has the blinkers on for the first time but a wide gate requires managing. SUNDAY LEMONADE (14) resumes and the local showed enough at the track on debut to consider naturally improved. MR GUNNA DO (3) went close this track/trip 9 days ago and include at a big price.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hanuman to win.
6 03:40 XXXX CLASS 1 SHOWCASE HANDICAP 1200m
Bounding Bon and Wolf Bay to take it up. FEARED (2) was too good for a maiden field when resuming last start over 1200m at Tamworth, scoring by a head. Sparingly raced and has more to offer. Can go right on with the job now. CALL ME TERRY (5) was beaten 2.6 lengths last start at this over 1300m track and is down in weight this time. Has more up the sleeve and not to be discounted. BOUNDING BON (1) improved again missing by 1L here over 1000m. Had a tough run from the 12 gate and draws inside today. The longer sprint looks to suit. WOLF BAY (4) is third-up and made good improvement at Mudgee. He'd been off the scene for a long while and will be fitter again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Feared to win.
7 04:15 EVERGREEN TURF WRA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIER 1400m
Expecting Star Intrigue to take up the running with State Of Grace and Brutal Love close at hand. The rich country championship qualifier is very competitive. KRANICH (2) was doing his best work late, placing over 1200m at this track. Draws out but the longer sprint suits and he has 3.5kg weight relief at this level. Peaks and is still shy of his best. NIMBLE STAR (8) jumped a $2.1F in the same contest and was found to have an issue post-race. Made a big impression beaten a nose at Wyong first-up, and again had no luck finishing 2.5L adrift over 1200m at Randwick. He's on a 9-day return and definitely deserves another chance. BRUTAL LOVE (1) resumed here over shorter beaten a whisker and then recorded an easy win at the track in an 82 over 1200m as a short-priced favourite. Fitter again and he also has winning claims. POISEN POINT (13) resumes and races well here. He's right up to this at best and expect her to be ready for the occasion. A player low in the weights. MICRO MIKKI (7) has pieces of form good enough but has the outside gate to contend with.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Kranich.
8 04:50 GM SPECIALTY VEHICLES DUBBO BENCHMARK 58 SHOWCASE HANDICAP 1400m
Expecting Jason Darren to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. JASON DARREN (4) likes to run along and after a tidy return at Beaumont (Newcastle) the fitness gave out late at Taree stepping up to this distance. Has a low gate and more to offer. JVO is a key jockey engagement replacing the 3kg apprentice. STOCKHOLM (6) improved sharply to score by 1.3 lengths over 1300m at this track four weeks ago. Has a low barrier today and just has to repeat that effort to threaten. MRS BULL (2) resumed beaten 1.2L over 1200m at Wyong after she got a long way back in the run. Won't be bothered by this longer journey and has a handy 3kg claim in easier grade. Right in the mix. SIDENAY (5) just missed delivering a hat-trick over 1400m at Mudgee in a 66. The 3kg helps back in grade offset some of the weight rise and he could bounce without surprise. DIVINE SINNER (7) won as a short-priced favourite at Orange but will need luck in this line-up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Jason Darren appeals most.
9 05:30 INLAND PETROLEUM COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 SHOWCASE HANDICAP 1100m
Obsessive Nature has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. WATER LAD (3) settled well back from a wide draw first-up and wound up strongly beaten 2L over 1000m at Scone. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and looks suited. Rates the leading contender. MISS CAPRICORN (5) found one better here in stronger second-up and then didn't put in on a heavy track at Orange. Has been kept on the fresh side and winning rider Weir replaces the apprentice. Right in it at best. PRESS FORWARD (2) is better chance the form line suggests. He's been racing in better company and gets his chance drawn inside and with Stiff's handy 2kg claim. CANNY PROSPECT (4) was beaten 3.5 lengths into fourth in a 1000m contest at Tamworth at his latest appearance. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance. GREEN PINEAPPLE (7) resumes and wouldn't be out of it at best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Water Lad to win.
