NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:53 HEINEKEN HANDICAP 1200m
No place for the faint-hearted with Miss Firehawk and Industrialist getting along early. MARYWEKA (7) is a class riser resuming. Win chance here for sure. IN DISGUISE (6) is well drawn and looks a genuine hope. Course proven. CANNY MAN (4) is back from a spell of three months. Scored a good win at his final run last campaign at Te Rapa over 1400m. Has switched to the Jenn Sheridan yard. Definite top-three chance. BUOYANTSEA (1) is a six-year-old having his first run in this area for his original Sabin Kirkland barn. Group 3 winner. Hasn't raced since he finished 13th over 1400m at Caulfield 12 weeks ago. Proven fresh up.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
2 01:33 ILT FOUNDATION MAIDEN 1200m
Tricky one to map with a large contingent of unraced runners but over this trip there is certain to be plenty of early pressure. SHORT (5) resumes from a spell of three-and-a-half months and is having his first outing under new trainer Anna Hewitson. Finished seventh at Arawa Park over 1400m at the opening run last time in work. ICE COLD GOLD (1) failed to figure again last time over 1200m at Phar Lap Racecourse, beaten 3 lengths into fifth. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Expected to be in the finish. CHANCE (2) wide draw but gets a senior rider on. Not out of this. OSO SPIRITED (14) is a chance fresh up and drawn the ace again.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
3 02:11 SOUTHLAND HONDA HANDICAP 2200m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Koyama leading the way. VINO VALENTINO (5) is a win chance in this line up. He handles it dry and wet. THE ADVISOR (7) progressed nicely last time out to finish just one length from the winner in second over 2100m at Oamaru. Nicely placed to give this a mighty shake. BELLA ROSE (12) has been out of the winner's list for a long time, last start finishing seventh at Riccarton Park Synthetic over 1600m. Placed to advantage and can run a better race. HE'S TUNZA GRUNT (6) is well drawn. Trifecta and first four chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
4 02:48 GROUP ILT HANDICAP 1400m
The speedy Hasstobeyou should find the front with Lochnaberry and Balzano on her heels. ALBATROSS (3) is in great form, lifting strongly to score last start over 1600m at Oamaru to make it two in a row. Hard to knock and should go well again. HASSTOBEYOU (2) finished 1.5 lengths away in fifth last time out over 1200m at Oamaru two weeks ago. Steps up in journey today. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Will give backers a great sight. LOCHNABERRY (5) has won second up. Course proven. Has won on dry and wet ground. THE GREY GOOSE (4) lines up for the first time since April 13. Looking to emulate her win at Gore at the beginning of last prep. Has never tasted defeat when fresh from a spell in two attempts. Has found the right race and is worth including.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
5 03:20 MARQUEE & PARTY HIRE MAIDEN 1400m
Plenty of early pace with Gene Ween and Hasstobereel to vie for the lead, pressured by Gollymolly and The Architect. HASSTOBEREEL (5) is an improver after fresh up run for a new yard. Can win drawn well. SAVIOUR (1) returns after 11 weeks in the paddock. Closed the last campaign with a sixth over 1400m at Oamaru. Has ability and is a solid chance for a new stable. THE ARCHITECT (2) finished 4.5 lengths from the winner in fifth last start over 1200m at Oamaru, an improvement on his 12th at Wanganui the run before. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot find winning ways. REPROBATE (6) could only manage to finish ninth, beaten 9 lengths, after being in the firing line on the bend at his latest appearance over 1600m at Woodville. New yard now. Expected to feature in the finish this time.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
6 03:56 NIGEL ROBERTSON BUILDING HANDICAP 1400m
Strong early tempo likely with several going forward, headed by David Moss and Sunset Express. ME LIBEREZ (1) didn't make an impact at his last run before going for a spell on June 29 finishing 12th and beaten 8 lengths over 1600m at Ruakaka. Now under the care of new trainer Jenn Sheridan. Looks a winning chance. STIMULANT (2) he won his Maiden fresh up. Wide draw. Chance still. BELLA RAGAZZA (8) has been racing well in last two runs. Definite winning chance. THREE NINETY (11) has not won for a long while. Last raced on September 22 when beaten 5 lengths into sixth at Oamaru over 1400m. Placed to advantage so expect a bold run.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
7 04:28 SOUTHPORT HANDICAP 1600m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Gintys Girl leading the way. PAR TEE (2) closed off strongly last start to get up for third, beaten half a length, over 1600m at Wingatui when resuming after a break. Has a solid record at this circuit. Should run well today with added fitness. LOCHNABERRY (1) returned from a spell two weeks ago when she was beaten 3 lengths into fifth over 1600m at Oamaru. Will enjoy a partial drop in class so she will prove hard to beat. THEODEN (3) is a course proven. Has won at the Mile. SMOOTH OPERATOR (4) has shown enough ability in the past to take this out.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
8 05:03 MCCALLUMS GROUP MAIDEN 1600m
Gene Ween and Breezylexus possess good early speed and will set a genuine tempo. PETE'S PRIDE (1) ran below expectations last time at Phar Lap Racecourse, finishing eighth and beaten 2.25 lengths starting at $5.10. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot find winning ways. ZABORACI (2) isa top tier chance here fresh up no matter the footing. TIPSY TART (6) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 1400m at Oamaru, beaten 5 lengths. Fitter so anticipating a better run this time.BEAVER FEVER (8) finished 6 lengths adrift in sixth last time at Oamaru in a disappointing performance. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run this time.  SUGGESTED PLAY:
