NUM TIME COMMENT
1 02:46 Happy Retirement 'Jacko' Handicap 1200m
Good early tempo with several going forward, primarily Omoplata, Bold Tropic and Ginger Creek.  KIKUYU (4) was a beaten favourite last start on this track and it was reported after the race that he had been inclined to hang out during the run for some reason. He is back down in class here and with a couple of gear changes, he can make amends. Follow your money. OMOPLATA (5) bolted home to win in the same race as the top pick last start when fresh up from a spell, scoring by 7 lengths. She is up 2.5kg but that should not be enough to stop her from going close to winning again. QUICK RETURN (2) is racing his way back into form and was a solid runner-up here a fortnight ago after racing close to the pace that day. He will be spot-on with his fitness and can go one better this time. ZASCEED (1) has changed stables since last racing at Bendigo in June and should have no trouble measuring up in this area. The markets will be an important guide.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Zasceed each way.
2 03:16 Alice Springs Family Dental Handicap 1200m
Just a small field but Valley Prince, Talent Quest and Ornamental Lady can ensure the pace is genuine.  TALENT QUEST (1) has been well-placed to win all 3 starts this prep and got up by a nose to win here 3 weeks ago over 1000m. He only has to carry an extra kilo this time and should win again. VALLEY PRINCE (2) made it 10 wins on the track when scoring an all-the-way win here over 1200m by a nose 3 weeks ago. He is likely to set the pace again and can easily go back-to-back. DELAGO LAD (3) seldom runs a bad race around this circuit and in this grade. He was third in a tougher field last time out and should be right in the finish again, especially with the advantage of the pole position. ORNAMENTAL LADY (4) has found it hard to win recently but is racing well and gets another chance to break her track duck in this. Don't risk her. TANGO STEPZ (5) has been racing in higher grades than this recently and did win over this trip 4 starts back by half-a-length. She adds to the puzzle.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Talent Quest to win.
3 03:56 Watertank Caf Maiden Plate 1100m
Sizzling pace from the outset from Jackset, Piccadilly Hero and Oneofthesenights locking horns ahead of All Frosted and Magic Defense. ONEOFTHESENIGHTS (9) did not fire when racing out of her rightful grade here 3 weeks ago and is much better placed in maiden company. She was runner-up here in her penultimate start after setting the pace and will try and take them all the way in this. Stick with her. JACKSET (3) is resuming from a spell and has Jarrod Todd in the saddle which is normally a good lead around this circuit. The market will be a good guide to his chances and he is good enough to win a maiden race at least. MAGIC DEFENSE (8) has been placed in 5 of her 9 starts in Victoria and was fourth as favourite at Pakenham on the poly track there 5 weeks ago. That sort of form makes her hard to beat in this. Follow your money. OLD MATE SMITHY (4) is also in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Magic Defense each way.
4 04:32 Ladbrokes Racing Club Handicap 1100m
Plenty of pressure on from the outset.  GARRUCHA (4) has continued to get better all year and resumed from a winter spell with an effortless win here by over 5 lengths a fortnight ago. He has an even better record over 1100m and gets to carry 2.5kg less this time. A good draw will help and he will be looking to take them all of the way again. RED WRAITH (1) was back in winning form here 3 weeks ago when leading all the way to score by nearly 4 lengths in this grade. He cops a 3kg penalty but is always hard to beat around this circuit. KICKATORP (3) is another consistent local gelding who has the front hoof pads off for his resuming run which is always a good sign. He has winning form fresh-up and should make his presence felt. FLYING START (2) is racing consistently and will make full use of the pole position. Jarrod Todd is in the saddle for the first time and the pair merit healthy respect.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Garrucha to win.
5 05:05 Derby Day November 2 Handicap 1600m
Plenty of speed runners engaged including Filthy Rich and Mi Mijo. SUPREME GOAL (5) just battled over 1400m last time out and is probably looking for a mile. He was sharp enough to win his maiden before that very easily over 1100m and should race close to the pace from the pole position this time. He has 1.5kg less to carry and is worth another chance. KIEFFER (1) made up some late ground when finishing fifth here as favourite 2 weeks ago and will relish the extra furlong on offer. A good draw will help and he should be right in the finish this time. Follow your money. MI MIJO (10) made up a nice slice of ground late when fresh-up here a fortnight ago and is straight up to a mile. He is usually thereabouts and is good enough to figure in the top 3 this time. THE GIRL'S BOY (2) likes it here and has won 2 of his last 3 starts including his most recent run here 2 weeks ago when scoring by over a length. He tries the mile for the first time and is worth each-way consideration.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Supreme Goal each way.
