HAPPY FORTUNE (5) produced an encouraging debut effort over this distance at Scottsville. She raced from just off the pace but found one too good on the day. She would have gained from the experience and if not too green around the turn, she should be the one to beat. YELLOW JACKET (1) should have finished closer to the winner last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has since been franked. She has cracked the pole position and should be hard to peg back. PANTHERA UNCIA (8) finished a nose behind the top pick last time out. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. CHAKPORI (4) has shown improvement in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this distance at Scottsville. She is having her peak run and can finish in the placings. Include in all combinations.

ARTIST'S MODEL (7) showed good improvement when second in his last start over this distance at Scottsville. He finished strongly but found one too good on the day. He is a progressive type and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, he should be the one to beat. DAPPER (6) has good form lines to his credit. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he was gelded. If not in need of this outing, he should throw out a big challenge to the top pick. HOODWINKED (2) was in need of his fresh-up run over 1200m on this course. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He will love the rise to the mile and should have a say in the outcome of this race. AMIGO (11) fought on bravely at the finish when third over 1950m last start. He should have no issues with the drop to the mile and with luck in running, he should finish in the placings. Each way value.

OUR LADY FATE (9) is better than her last start as her tongue was over the bit in running. Her penultimate run when fifth over 1200m catches the eye. She should be at home over this distance and in this field, she may be the one to beat. SYRIAN STEEL (7) fought hard in her last start here over 1900m on the poly track but found one too good on the day. If repeating that effort on the turf, she should be competitive. WALKIE TALKIE (12) finished third in the same race behind the second pick last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. GRAND OCCASION (11) raced from a handy position over 1750m last time and stuck on gamely to finish second. She should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and with luck in running, she should figure in the finish again.

RED WILLIAM (1) set the pace over 1950m at Scottsville last time and fought on to finish fourth. He tries the 2300m for the first time and if he sees out the extra distance on offer, he can take this out. FRENCH TRIP (3) followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1750m at Scottsville. He set the pace that day before getting outrun late and from a good draw he should go close to winning this. BLACKBERRY BREEZE (6) is having his first run for the Alyson Wright stable. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. If settled into his new surroundings, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD (2) has fair recent form lines to his name. The manner in which he has been finishing off his races suggests that he will be suited to 2300m. If Calvin Habib can get him to settle early on then he can figure in the finish at some each-way value.

CATS PAJAMAS (3) won a good race in Grade 2 company last time out. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is the best-weighted runner in this contest and should start the new season on a winning note. BUFFALO STORM CODY (4) was running on when second over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He finished sixth and not too far behind the top pick in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. COLD SHINE (5) stayed on nicely when fifth over 1000m at Scottsville last start. He would have come on from the run and should be involved at the finish. LUHAMBA PHAMBILI (9) should have finished closer to the winner last time out. He was super-impressive when winning on debut and is not to be underestimated in this.

PRITTI VICTORY (9) fought hard in her last start over 1000m at Scottsville but found one too good on the day. She returns from an 11-week break which would have done her the world of good. She won her only attempt here over this trip and if fit, she should be the one to beat. CAPTAIN'S CHRISTY (5) needed her fresh-up run over 1000m. She likes this course and will strip a much fitter horse today. She is one of the leading contenders. RUSSIAN DOLL (4) has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has won twice from three starts over this distance and will be mowing down the frontrunners. Each way value. CONVOCATION (6) is the stablemate of the top pick. She would have come on a lot since her last start and will love the rise to 1200m. Watch for her late.

PETIT VERDOT (4) was her own worst enemy over a mile here on the poly track last start when finishing a game third. Siphesihle Hlengwa steps back into the saddle and with the right run, she can return to winning ways. ESCAPOLOGIST (8) was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 2000m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has since been franked. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and with luck, she can double the dose. OFF LIMITS (6) raced wide around the turn on the poly track here last time but stuck on gamely to finish fourth. She has dropped in the ratings and should return to best form. VIHAAN'S QUEEN (1) should have finished closer to the winner last time when finishing fifth. She finished second in her only attempt on this course and from the pole position, she should be involved in the fight to the finish. Each way value.

SHOTGUN WILLIE (8) was running on when second over 1750m at Scottsville last time. He won his only attempt here over this trip. He does have an awkward draw to contend with, but Serino Moodley knows him well and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. On top. INGQWELE (2) followed up his maiden victory with a creditable sixth-place finish over this distance. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and if suited to this course, he should be competitive. Each way value. PONGOLA (5) was unlucky not to have won last time. He has a good record on this course and the 5-year-old gelding will strip much fitter. If keeping on a straight line, he can have a say in the finish here. HENRY HARVEY (14) was an impressive winner on debut. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. A wide gate is no help but he can remain unbeaten.
