NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:43 RACECOURSE VILLAGE Maiden Plate 2040m
From wide out More Elements can slide over and set up a genuine tempo. COUNTER (2) was a beaten favourite fresh up in his first start in Queensland and then tried hard when running third here a week ago. He is ready now third up for a middle-distance and should go close to getting the job done this time. LUISANA (12) has been trying to win a race for a while now and found all sorts of trouble at Ipswich last time out before finishing third there nearly 3 weeks ago. She only needs some better luck this time to break through for an overdue victory. FISHERMAN'S BEACH (4) is a former Irish gelding making his local debut. He has only been lightly tried and has the blinkers on for the first time fresh up. He is first up over a middle distance so he has done the lead-up work and has to be respected in this even lineup. The markets will be your best guide. MIDORI MOVER (15) is improving at each run back from a spell and will relish the step up to a middle-distance here. Each-way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Fisherman's Beach each-way.
2 12:13 TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 3 AUGUST QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1110m
Anticipating a stack of early pressure over the sprint course with many of these lining up for the first time. MATISSE (12) raced 3 times in Melbourne earlier in the year while still in his first prep and was third in the first 2 of them. Her recent spell would have done her the world of good and she has the right draw to make her presence felt fresh up. A market watch is advised. WANGANEEN (6) is nicely bred and has been given plenty of time to mature before making his debut. He has improved in each of his trials and with Vlad Duric in the saddle, he can figure in the finish. Watch for market moves. WARRIOR HEAD (7) finished second on debut at Ipswich and can improve quickly with the blinkers on for the first time. Each way. SURPRISE HONEY (18) made her debut on this track in Stakes company nearly 5 weeks ago and can improve sharply back in maiden grade here. Include in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Matisse to win.
3 12:43 CASCADE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200m
Plenty of early pace to be established by Petticoat with Fitzpatrick close at hand. THE HAMO (1) franked his recent trial win when dropping back into maiden company and scoring by nearly a length here a fortnight ago. He won't find this much harder and with only an extra kilo to carry in weight, he can repeat the dose. FITZPATRICK (2) won his maiden on the Sunshine Coast poly track by over 6 lengths and then ran third on the turf there last time out 17 days ago. He is perfectly drawn for this assignment and is going well enough to be hard to beat again. SAVOUR THE DREAM (7) was a beaten favourite on debut here a fortnight ago but did well to finish third after missing the start. He is drawn in the pole position here and a win would be no surprise. PETTICOAT (9) is a consistent juvenile who has not been far away in 3 starts since winning her debut. Each way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: The Hamo to win.
4 01:18 XXXX Maiden Handicap 1200m
Taking Flight should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep him honest. ADDITION (6) put together a couple of handy efforts earlier in the year when starting her career and was sent for a spell after a last start third at Eagle Farm. She will be a lot stronger in this prep and from a good draw, she will be hard to hold out. GLOWLIGHT (9) is an experienced maiden mare who is racing her way toward her first win. She ran on late to finish third here a fortnight ago and has Blake Shinn riding here. Can win. STEEL KING (5) won a trial here before finishing third as favourite on this track fresh up a fortnight ago. That was his first start in Queensland after shifting from Victoria and with the blinkers on for the first time, he will be hard to hold out. Follow your money. JUNGLE LAW (10) showed promise at the start of her last prep and will be a lot stronger this time in. She was second in a recent trial and can figure in the finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Glowlight each-way.
5 01:53 THE GIBSON BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 2040m
Matsuyama to set a strong early tempo. JUNGLE PRINCE (11) was left flat-footed last time out a fortnight ago and he was already looking for more ground. He has the winkers on for the first time and with 3-kilos less to carry this time, he will be hard to hold out. YET THE MOVES (9) has been thereabouts this prep in NSW and now joins the Queensland arm of the Chris Waller stable. He is rock-hard fit and has Vlad Duric in the saddle. Each-way claims. PERSEVERE (2) capped off some good form with a well-deserved victory at the Sunshine Coast 10 days ago. The extra furlong will only further enhance his each-way claims in an open contest here. COOL KAAP (13) is better than his form suggests and he should be at his peak fitness after 3 runs back from a spell. Michael Rodd takes the ride and he should finish a lot closer here. Include in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Jungle Prince on top.
6 02:28 MULLINS LAWYERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200m
Plenty of early pace from Bohemian Lad and Spirit Of Mac primarily. BOHEMIAN LAD (3) probably should have won fresh up at the Sunshine Coast but had to settle for second, beaten by a short head after missing the start a touch. He is unbeaten on a soft track and will strip fitter second up. Hard to beat this time. HEYOKA (14) did not fire at Ipswich fresh-up and looked to be in need of the run. She has been back to the trials for a win since then and can make amends. Each-way value. JUKEBOX IN SIBERIA (8) is a promising filly who was third in a tougher field at Eagle Farm before going for a spell earlier in the year and with a trial under her belt, she will be ready to rumble in this. Include in all combinations. ACTION KING (6) will be peaking third up and will relish the extra furlong on offer here. James Orman in the saddle is a plus and he should be right in the finish here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bohemian Lad to win.
7 03:03 SKY RACING Class 5 Handicap 1200m
Solid pace likely with Amore Veloce prominent early on. SPACE TRACKER (1) fought on gamely when third fresh up and after having no luck in his next run on this track he was successful here 3 weeks ago when coming with a well-timed run to score by over a length. He won't find this much harder and with the same weight to carry, he can win again. AMORE VELOCE (8) ran out of condition when resuming at Ipswich and then was only claimed late after leading here a fortnight ago, finishing second, half-a-length from the winner. She is nicely weighted for this and will be peaking third up. Hard to beat. APRIL IN AUGUSTA (4) was only a short head away from winning at Ipswich fresh up and then had a tough trip when fading out of it in a tougher field at Eagle Farm last time out. She is better placed in this and from a superior gate, she is expected to bounce straight back into the money. MIO SORRENTO (11) did not have much galloping room here last time out and drops 4 kilos for this assignment. He is worth another chance. Each-way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mio Sorrento each-way.
8 03:38 MEKKA RACEDAY 17 AUGUST BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1350m
Denied is expected to cross from a wide gate and lead. DENIED (1) has raced her way through the grades since making the move from Victoria and has won 4 of her last 5 starts, including a brave all-the-way win here 3 weeks ago when clinging on to victory by a nose. She will have to be at her best again from a wide gate here but with the same weight to carry, she can take the next step. FIGHTING IDOL (7) capped off some good country-class form with a tidy win at Kilcoy last time out. He is still on the up with his fitness and won't be out of place at this level. Justin P Stanley sticks with him and so do we. SMOKIN' TOFF (14) ran out of condition when resuming here 3 weeks ago and finished near the rear of the field. She strips fitter and is capable of figuring in the finish this time. BRASCO (15) built steadily to a deserved win here 4 weeks ago when arriving late from near last to get up and score comfortably by nearly a length. He will get back again from a wide gate and drops 3 kilos in weight. He can win again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Brasco each-way.
9 04:13 LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI Class 1 Handicap 1350m
Sizzling pace from the outset from Free Carry, Fleur De Vie and Hit locking horns ahead of Mighty Judd and Ever So Clever. MALARINA (11) has yet to miss a cheque in 7 career starts, including a win during her last prep. She is improving with each run back from her spell and will be peaking third up. She is up to this grade and should be right in the finish again. CUNNAMULLA FELLA (1) is not having much luck with his draws this prep and had drawn wide again for this. He will be close to his peak fitness third up and only needs a touch of luck early on to put his best hoof forward. YALLA (9) was runner-up when resuming at Ipswich before not having the best of runs here last time out when finishing out of the money. She has a good draw third up and is worth another chance. Include in all multiples. RELEASE LE MISSILE (7) is likely to be running on and is capable of a top 3 finish here. Watch closely.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Malarina to win.
