The scratchings take the obvious pace out of the race. Jockey tactics crucial. RUBIQUITOUS (2) has raced well this prep in good quality sprints. Travelled on the pace and battled on okay to be beaten under two lengths over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last start. Should be right up on the speed again and with just 54.5kgs after the claim he makes plenty of appeal. VODKA MARTINI (8) struggled on a heavy surface last time out at the Sunshine Coast in a run worth overlooking. Saves his best for this track and he has won 3/6 at the trip. Can make amends. SITUATION ROOM (4) was seven weeks between runs when a solid third over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last time. Fitter this time and loves Doomben. Right in contention. HAKKAI MARU (12) is a better horse with some give in the surface. Boasts a fine record at this journey so with the featherweight she is an each-way hope. BOOM TORQUE (3) resumes. Was beaten under a length when fresh from a break last prep over 1110m here. Trialling in great style so keep him in mind. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rubiquitous each-way in a tricky affair.
