Strong tempo with Desert Grit and Spirit Meister leading from Olympic Korchnoi and Seventies Hit. OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (7) just missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 1800m at Gordonvale, beaten only 1.75 lengths after being in the firing line on the turn. Meets some better types this time but another big run is on the cards. The well-related ARMOUR FORCE (1) (half to G2 winner and G1 placed Bella Martini) hit the frame two starts ago at Mt Garnet but ran below par last time when sixth and beaten 2 lengths over 1400m at Townsville. Ideally placed and is sure to give this a mighty shake. DESERT GRIT (8) is a locally trained gelding who turned in a good effort when narrowly defeated last time at Mareeba over 1210m. Should be in the finish again. STADIUM OF LIGHT (4) was unplaced two runs back then just missed the frame last start over 1800m at Mt Garnet, beaten 6 lengths into fourth. Capable of featuring prominently. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning towards Olympic Korchnoi.
