Plenty of runners but a dawdling affair is on the cards. EDGE OF MIDNIGHT (8) made it three wins from his last four runs when he stormed home to just arrive in time over 1250m at Taree last start. Stepping up in grade but drops a substantial 5.5 kgs. No reason he cannot add to this fine recent record. VOLCANIC LOVE (5) returns from a six-month break. Didn't come up last prep but his form in the campaign prior to that was excellent, including a win in a Class 4 at Doomben over Mintaka Lad. Winning hope if he is forward enough. GOLD CARD (1) led all the way to win a similar race here recently, relishing the heavy conditions. Adept in all going so cannot be ruled out. HEIR APPARENT (4) ran a nice race in town last start and should be cherry ripe now at the fourth run back from a spell. SUGGESTED PLAY: Edge Of Midnight each-way or 1 x 2.
