Expecting August Rush to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. SLEUTH (7) returns from a 15-week spell and is having his first run for the Peter Cheers stable. Yet to fire when fresh but he has largely contested races in town and at the provincials. Big step down in grade to launch this prep - definitely good enough to stretch this line-up. AUGUST RUSH (2) is the one with the most upside. Has raced just twice and placed on both occasions, albeit on heavy surfaces. Capable of taking this out if that form can convert to firmer footing. OL' MATE COOP (6) raced handy and boxed on well for second when resuming on a heavy track over 1200m here recently. Drawn to get the ideal run and will be tough to hold out over this slightly longer journey. BOBBY (9) hasn't threatened in his five runs to date, although the latest effort at provincial level was an improvement. Market watch with the blinkers going on for the first time today. FRENCH RIVIERA (8) has been edged out at her last two and on a seven-day back-up makes plenty of appeal. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sleuth to win but little separates the top handful.
