Good early pressure anticipated with a large representation of first starters. VANAKKAM (4) is better than her last start run would suggest. Her two efforts prior to that outing were encouraging. The drop to 1000m may suit her well and she gets the services of the 1.5kg claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew. If putting her best foot forward, she may be the one to beat. BELLIGERENT (1) made the expected natural improvement when fourth over 1200m at Greyville last time. She is a progressive type and if jumping on terms, she should throw out a big challenge to the top selection. ENGELANDPARK (3) was in need of her debut effort over this distance at Kenilworth last start. She would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement needed to finish in the money. PERFUME POWER (7) ran a fair race when fourth over 1200m on this course last time. The 4kg claiming apprentice Jacey Botes retains the ride and she may have more to come.
