The Mariner to take up the running with Bella Russian and Rip 'N' Rip close at hand. RIP 'N' RIP (4) fought on strongly to finish third on debut at Moe just over 3 weeks ago and will improve with an extra furlong to travel second up. A wide draw might not be an issue on a heavy track and with Campbell Rawiller stepping into the irons, he can improve again. Hard to beat. BELLA RUSSIAN (13) was a beaten favourite on debut at Mount Gambier but stuck to his task gamely to hold third. She will be better for that experience and will be suited by 1200 metres second up. Stick with her. GALLIC BOOGIE (2) pushed on to lead last time out on the Ballarat poly track and faded in the run home, finishing at the rear of the field. He will be peaking his fitness third up and is worth another chance on a heavy turf surface. KNUCKLE (3) ran his best race when fresh up in his last prep and after a couple more runs he went for a spell that would have done him the world of good. He has the pole position and bears close watching. Each-way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rip 'N' Rip to win.
