Not a big field but many line-up for the first time so the pace should be genuine. ZAHARIAS (4) has been a beaten favourite in both of her starts to date, and now steps up to 1200m for the first time. She was only a short-head off breaking through at Riccarton 2 months ago, and she should be the one to beat now that she has had the experience. IMPERIAL ROSE (5) set the pace before being run down late on debut at Te Aroha on a heavy track there 8 days ago. It is always a good sign when the juveniles are backing up so quickly, and she has the draw to go on better here. PEGGY SUE (8) is bred to get over more ground, and she was close up in her most recent of 2 trials. She has the coveted pole position and is sure to be thereabouts. SINGLETARY (3) has been showing plenty of talent at the trials, and his trainer is not here for the scenery. SUGGESTED PLAY: Zaharias each way.
