HOLE IN ONE GOLF TAUPO 1800m
Solid tempo anticipated with Prominere and In Tune pressing forward with Wave Ruler not far away. PROMINERE (6) has been game in defeat in her last couple of starts, and the step up to 1800m will suit her. She is poised to go one better in this. VADASHA (5) has been in sound form on the poly track at Cambridge, and she can carry that form through into this race providing that the track is not too wet. THE DARZI (4) ran a couple of big races through a winter campaign, and an improving track would do him no harm. He is capable of getting the job done here. RIPPIN ALONG (7) has been thereabouts through the winter over 1600m, and an extra 200m at this stage of her prep will suit her. Stick with her on an each-way basis. WAVE RULER (1) has not always had the best of luck this prep, and he can spice up any top 4 combos in this field. SUGGESTED PLAY: Prominere can win this, and Wave Ruler for value. |

ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES 1400m
Semra to find the front in the small field. FIAMMA (11) finished just over a length from the winner in fifth place at Te Rapa on debut, and with the natural improvement that is expected second up, she will be right in the finish here. SEMRA (9) had her last run in G3 company at Ruakaka, and she will be peaking at the right time for this. Stick with her for all top 4 combos. ARRAZOLA (2) made up late ground as the favourite when resuming here nearly 4 weeks ago. She strips fitter, and can take this out. ELLENDALE (12) makes her debut with plenty of trial experience under her belt. Michael McNab in the irons is a positive lead, and despite a tricky gate, she is sure to be well found in the markets. CARD SHARK (5) makes her debut as a 4YO mare off the back of a trial win, and with the aid of the coveted pole position, she should be ready to rumble. SUGGESTED PLAY: Arrazola each way. |

VS EQUINE EAST COAST CHALLENGE QUALIFIER 1400m
Expecting Kintaro to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. UNSWAYED (1) had plenty of trial experience prior to finishing second on debut at Arawa Park a month ago. He has to overcome a tricky gate, but he should still be very competitive. Stick with him. GUIDING LIGHT (4) is also entered in an earlier race, and she will be looking for some firmer footing. Respect the market. SCRITTORE (11) tried hard on debut, and he has won trials on either side of that performance. A good draw helps, and he can improve sharply. SINGE (6) has been given a couple of trials to prepare for her return, and she is capable of a bold run fresh. THE EXPLORER (13) makes her debut with plenty of trial experience behind her. Check the market moves. SUGGESTED PLAY: Scrittore each way value. |

WAIRAKEI GOLF AND SANCTUARY 1100m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a genuine tempo. GETUPOFFATHATTHING (1) makes his debut and was an impressive trial winner late last month. Michael McNab in the saddle is a strong lead, and the leading Walker/Bergerson stable are always to be respected with their first starters. STATE OF PLAY (2) is a stablemate of the top pick, and his trial form has also been sound, including a win at Avondale. He has the pole position, and will be ready to rumble. WHISTLEJACKET (3) is another gelding making his debut, and he has also won his latest trial. A good draw is an assist, and if 1100m is not already too short for him, he should be very competitive. IMPERIAL ROSE (6) showed plenty of talent as a juvenile, and she looked in good shape when winning a recent trial very easily. Race experience accounts for a lot, and she can easily upset the first-starters in this. ROSE AYE REIGN (7) will give the powerful Marsh stable a strong hand in this, and her tune-up trials have been good. She is not out of this. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Imperial Rose each way. |

Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. RISE TO POWER (2) needed the experience in his only run as a juvenile when finishing third at Woodville. He would have matured since that opener, and his breeding suggests that he will be targeting some richer options through the spring. THE QUEEN'S SWORD (5) made an encouraging start to her career when finishing a sound runner-up in her only appearance to date. She has the pole position, and with a couple of trials under her belt, she will be ready to rumble. RIP TIDE (4) has been showing plenty of promise at the trials, and Craig Grylls has stuck with him through his education. He has some breeding to live up to, and is sure to have plenty of market support. VIA FONTANELLA (6) is not to be underestimated fresh up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rise To Power each way in a very competitive contest. |

TONGARIRO RIVER RAFTING EAST COAST CHALLENGE QUALIFIER / NZB MEGA MAIDEN SERIES 1200m
They are sure to run this along with Tiago and Lassie taking it up from a few of the debutants. CAMILA (3) battled away bravely here nearly 4 weeks ago when finishing runner-up for the second time in as many starts this prep. She cops a much tougher gate this time, but would not mind a firmer surface. With the right run, and an extra 200m being ideal, she can go one better. TIAGO (1) resumed with a solid run fresh up when finishing just behind the top pick in third place. He has another good draw, and this lightly tried 6YO gelding can pick up his first win at short notice. RIO BENITO (2) made up up many lengths to finish third on debut at Cambridge-synthetic a fortnight ago, and he has trialled up on the turf. He will only get better with more racing, and the step up to 1200m will also be in his favour. Each way. LASSIE (4) resumes from a spell after showing promise during her 3YO season. She has trialled up well enough for her return, and if she doesn't need the hit-out, she can figure in the top 4.

Bodacious Kate has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. DUA DANCE (3) is a lightly tried 5YO mare who is resuming for the first time from the powerful Walker/Bergerson stable. She has had a couple of trials to get ready, and from a good gate, she should be ready to run a big race. Use any market confidence as a guide. ADMIRAL VOS (8) had one start as a juvenile before being put aside to mature. He resumes in a 5-horse field, and his recent trial placing will have him ready to run a big race fresh up. TURN IT UP (4) raced too keenly fresh up, and she will be a lot sharper for this assignment. She maps to enjoy a soft run early on, and is a top 3 chance in the small field. RISING WIND (1) is fresh up and will be fighting out the minor placings, with a 4kg claim being an assist. BODACIOUS KATE (2) has been helped by a bunch of scratchings, and if her mind is on the job, then she is capable enough on her day of figuring in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Dua Dance each way. |

TWO MILE BAY SAILING CLUB 1400m
Strong tempo assured from Rima Rua Toru and Bonnie Gem leading the charge. PRESTISSIMO (9) was unsuited by a muddling pace at Hastings last time out, and his nose defeat before that at Waverley is the guide to use. She is likely to be ridden more positively early on in this modest field, and she has a great chance to post another win. RIMA RUA TORU (1) has more upside than most in this, and his debut run on the Cambridge poly track was very good, before finishing fifth there in a tougher field last time out. He has trialled up nicely on the turf, and he is expected to be hard to hold out here. ANAROA (3) has been not too bad on the Awapuni synthetic surface, but a reasonable turf surface here would be more suitable. He has an improved draw, and is worth including in all combos. BONNIE GEM (4) should be peaking third up, and she has won a trial since her last run at Ruakaka nearly 6 weeks ago. Expect a lot better here. SUGGESTED PLAY: Prestissimo can win this. |
