NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:25 Ladbrokes Switch Maiden Plate 1400m
No surprise if the debutants played a key role in the tempo of the race with little speed on paper. LA REINA VEGA (8) looks well placed off a good debut at Seymour. She was well supported there and only missed a long neck in second after covering ground. Up to 1400m with that run under the belt and drawn ideally, she can go one better. LADY PUISSANCE (9) made nice improvement second up at Seymour when beaten a head over this trip. She's coming along nicely and will be hard to hold out late. THE REGENT (5) is a So You Think gelding on debut for the Hayes yard. He looked very handy coming away to win a recent jumpout and can win first time of asking. MS PORT MELBOURNE (10) debuted in a strong race at Caulfield and wasn't disgraced in sixth. She can figure with upside. SOULSEASE RIVER (4) next best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: La Reina Vega to win.
2 01:00 Become a Southside Racing Member Maiden Plate 1200m
Tricky one to map with a number of debutants but over this trip there is good speed anticipated. SOMETHINGS BURNIN' (11) resumes. He ran third in a feature maiden on debut at Newcastle with stakes form out of that race before tackling a G3 Baillieu himself next time out and finishing down the track. He should be an improver this time around and has jumped out well leading in. IN'KANTOSSTAR (3) resumes having just found one better on debut at Moe back in December. Off the long break and drawn very wide here but is a well-related type who can take holding out. KOKO (6) is struggling to break through but ran well last time here over 1000m when getting into second. Tough draw but will roll forward and give a sight. SEALAND (7) was okay fresh at Pakenham Synthetic and should be fitter onto turf here. YELLOWKNIFE (16) held ground on debut at Seymour and was in the market. Look for improvement.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Somethings Burnin' to win.
3 01:35 Down Syndrome Victoria Maiden Plate 1500m
Not much early pressure but Bellabama, Hakusan and Roxolani can take up forward spots. BELLABAMA (9) made considerable ground in the run home to finish second here last time out over 1400m, continuing her good form this time in. An extra 100m now is in her favour and she can break through. ROCK CATCHER (11) ran on strongly only to just miss as favourite last start over 1700m at Awapuni Synthetic in New Zealand. Comes across the ditch now off a let-up for the Eurell yard and is worth keeping safe. HAKUSAN (14) has not raced since his debut on March 25 over 1400m at Sandown-Lakeside when he finished seventh, beaten 6 lengths. Can improve this time around, watch the market. DUKE OF OMAN (5) turned in a nice run last time to finish second over 1217m at Moe. Still lightly raced and should be fitter again from a soft gate, consider.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bellabama on top.
4 02:10 Pinker Pinker Tickets on Sale Now Friday 9 October Handicap 2580m
Good early pressure with Omamori or Batoka Chief likely to take up the running. Open staying race. OMAMORI (1) is racing consistently this time in without winning, the past two in town. Two back he was fourth to Nearco Frod who has since won in better company and last time behind the in-form Shultzy. This suits from an ideal draw. BATOKA CHIEF (6) is going quite well and did narrowly beat Omamori home last time when they clashed. He maps nicely as well and should be right there. THREE REEL ROSES (11) is coming off a solid win at Moe in similar company and can measure up. PRESSURISED (5) was good at huge odds last time in handy 3yo company at Caulfield. A repeat of that has him in the finish. AMAWASHA (7) got home well behind Three Reel Roses last start and is in the minor mix again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Omamori to win.
5 02:45 Hygain Edge Handicap 1000m
Pace a scorcher, headed by Mr Assertive, Nordic Strike and Foxenberg, closely followed by Grouse Mountain and Room For Bingo. Open 1000m race with plenty of speed. NORDIC STRIKE (3) is race-fit and going well, just finding one better last start at Sandown Hillside when taking a sit. Jabez Johnstone sticks and he should take plenty of catching again. MR ASSERTIVE (4) resumes. He was racing in good form last time in and some of his 1000m form reads well for this. He's speedy but tactics from the wide gate will be interesting. BLISS BOMB (11) was poor last time at Sandown Hillside but is better than that and is lightly raced. Onto a better surface here should see improvement. NICEREINE (8) just found one better first up at Sale, just his third career start. Zahra goes on from a soft gate and he'll take holding out. LOGAM (10) can bounce back similar to Bliss Bomb out of the same race.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Nordic Strike on top.
6 03:20 Combined Steel Unity Handicap 1400m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Steadfast. ALIEN ANGEL (3) clearly on top. She's a progressive mare who won nicely here fresh having also been well backed on debut last time in. She'll need to take a step forward now to BM62 grade but this does look fairly winnable against a few that haven't won in a while. TAN TAT DELIGHT (6) is one of those. She's threatened this time in but hasn't won one, okay in a BM64 last time out at Sandown Hillside when beaten 2.25 lengths. She draws low and can take holding out. ATAEGINA (2) tackled a much stronger race at Flemington last time out and was well accounted for but the effort two back at Bendigo reads nicely for this and she should take beating. VIENNA VIXEN (1) was poor last time but had been coming along well prior in some good races and back to that form she should be right in the mix. GAME PLAN (4) is in the each way mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Alien Angel to win.
7 03:55 Prestige Event Hire Handicap 1600m
Anticipating a strong tempo with plenty of speed engaged. FINANCE SHOGUN (1) goes on top. He's going okay without winning but really put the writing on the wall here last time in a similar race over 1400m, running in a fast race and sticking on well for second. Up to 1600m looks okay and he'll kick up from the inside gate. QUEENSBURY (2) continues to race well without winning, placing in his past four, runner-up in three of those. He tried hard at Moe over this trip last time and won't need to do much more to be going one better. RUSSIAN DUCHESS (9) presents third up and ready to fire. The second-up effort here was solid behind Finance Shogun and she should be fitter. OSHIMA (3) improved quickly at start two to win the maiden. Now onto turf but looks progressive. NGONGOTAHA (6) broke through for a maiden win at Moe at short odds and is in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Finance Shogun to win.
8 04:30 Vale Billy Boy Canteen Handicap 1200m
Genuine pace with Bella Pietra taking up the running ahead of Fly By Light and Illuminance. CASTELLITO (9) goes on top first up. She's off a long break but did win first up last time in before being well backed at Bendigo in a good race, pulling up with issues. She's clearly got good ability for the Begg yard and draws for every hope. FLY BY LIGHT (3) was kept safe in betting first up at Caulfield in a good race and didn't fire. He'd shown promise prior to that and might be a quick improver with Zahra taking over. FARAWAY DREAM (2) has two runs under the belt this time in and has been solid. She'll be better for those and can roll forward from out wide. ILLUMINANCE (7) is another drawn very wide but was close up here last time and should be fighting out the finish again. PARIS WINDS (12) struggled fresh but can be a quick improver.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Castellito on top.
