SCHWEPPES HANDICAP 1200m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a genuine tempo. Waller runners dominate this race. Lloyd goes aboard LEONESSA (9) who gets the nod on the strength of good Saturday form, that being a close fourth over this trip at Rosehill when fresh from a spell last start. Drawn to enjoy the perfect run and when presented can quicken over the top of these. QUEEN'S GAMBLE (8) is the best chance to upset the premier trainer's grip on the race. Made up a stack of ground to finish second over today's journey when fresh from a spell here last time out. Didn't have the best of luck that day and is nicely placed to put the record straight. YOSHIDA (1) debuted over this course and distance on the same day as Queen's Gamble's last run and finished second, running a slightly slower time. Plenty of scope for improvement so don't rule him out. PHANTOM MAJOR (2) just missed on debut at Newcastle recently. McDonald goes aboard so it is the stable's preference. Betting watch on LAVA FLOW (6) who is trialling in great style for Bjorn Baker. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Leonessa each-way. |

TROPICUS @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP 1550m
Small field in which Glissando can find the front comfortably at a moderate tempo. NAMASTE (1) gave away a big start on the bend then closed in good style to be beaten under two lengths over 1500m at Kembla last start. Competitive in Sydney Saturday company last prep so this type of race is well within reach. Blinkers back on a strong sign from the Baker camp that he is ready to fire. VIVA MAURICIO (5) failed on a heavy track at Rosehill recently after a strong first-up win at Hawkesbury. Can bounce back on firmer footing. GLISSANDO (7) dominated at Kembla last start at just her second appearance. Must be respected with J Mac in the irons. SALOON PASSAGE (3) raced at Rosehill on Saturday and struggled in a BM72 over 1500m. Maiden winner the run before at midweek level. Capable of a better effort today. The other runners make little appeal. SUGGESTED PLAY: Namaste on top. |

HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP 1100m
Solid tempo with The Little General leading from Gambler and Sandbi. THE LITTLE GENERAL (6) scored a game win first-up at Hawkesbury then started favourite and led again here a fortnight ago over this trip but looked in bother a fair way out and was beaten four lengths. Very little quality in this line-up so with that extra run under the belt he can turn things around. FAMOSO (7) has been strong through the line in his two runs this prep, both on the Canberra Acton track. Yet to prove himself in town but won't get too many softer targets than this. Strong contender at the third run back. HARRY'S EVIDENCE (4) is back after a three-month spell. Popular in betting through last prep but tended to be hot and cold. Trialled well recently so he looks ready for a bright return. Veteran KING GUTHO (3) can bob up on his return to midweek company. GAMBLER (2) is fitter for two runs back from a spell and from the inside gate looms as a genuine hope. SUGGESTED PLAY: Giving The Little General another chance. |

ASAHI SUPER DRY HANDICAP 1900m
Dubai Warrior has enough early speed to find the lead at a decent clip. AETHELWULF (6) is an exciting prospect and possibly the most interesting runner on the card. Has recorded two massive wins at the provincials this prep, with a flop at $1.28 in between - that was on a heavy track so he can be forgiven. Goes from 1600m to 1900m which can only help. Ready to take on these better horses now. MICHELANGELO (8) finished midfield in the Queensland Derby two back then had an eight-week break before a fair effort over 1800m at Randwick last time. Fitter for that run and is a threat to the top pick. CASTAGNOLA (7) led for home but couldn't quite hang on at his latest appearance over 1500m at Hawkesbury. Lightly raced and gets beyond a mile for the first time. Likely improver. DUBAI WARRIOR (5) has raced well all prep at the provincials and still has more to offer at just the fourth run of the campaign. Prepared to give KAPAKIRI (2) one more chance at the fourth run back from a spell with McDonald to pilot. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Aethelwulf. |

IRRESISTIBLE POOLS AND SPAS HANDICAP 1100m
Solid tempo with Miss Emma, Dee Dee Express and Brown Sugar going hard, closely attended by Raskol. RASKOL (6) has been at single digit odds at her last three outings but failed to deliver, most recently here at this trip a fortnight ago. The scratchings have turned this into a very modest affair - will not get a better chance to bounce back to form. MISS EMMA (15) led and battled on bravely for a close third over 1200m here last start. Races well at Canterbury and should prove tough to catch coming back to 1100m against this lot. BROWN SUGAR (2) lines up for the first time since late December. Opened the maiden campaign with a couple of wins over 1000m then led the Gosford Guineas field for home before knocking up at the only other appearance. Promising mare who should give a great sight. The lightly raced STUBBORN EMMELIE (14) is back after a four-month spell. Showed ability in the first prep and from a nice gate should get all the favours. The speedy DEE DEE EXPRESS (11) scored at Moruya last time. Finds a tougher assignment today but should be prominent for a long way. SUGGESTED PLAY: Raskol can win this. |

Strong tempo assured with Clear Proof and Rimbaud leading the way over Silencio Porfavor. RIMBAUD (4) drops back a trip after battling away to finish second over 1400m at the Farm three weeks ago. Has been in the money at six of nine runs at or around today's distance. Should race handy and give a good account again. SILENCIO PORFAVOR (10) stepped up to Saturday grade and was only beaten 1.6 lengths last time out over 1200m at Rosehill. Beautifully drawn and gets in nicely after Grima's claim. Poses a serious threat. SNACK BAR (1) twice placed at Group 3 level as a younger horse but cannot recapture that glory. Loomed to win but couldn't finish the job at Rosehill last time. Must be considered dropping back to this level. CLEAR PROOF (6) ran the talented Watson to a head when they clashed at this track a fortnight ago. Cherry ripe after three runs back from a spell and is more than capable of testing this field. USEAPIN (11) wasn't pushed out in the same race as Clear Proof here last time. Best form stacks up so this is not out of the question. SUGGESTED PLAY: A small investment on Rimbaud. |

CATANACH'S JEWELLERS HANDICAP 1550m
Plenty of pace with Doradus and Conchiero leading from Standard Deviation. LET'S FLY (6) convincingly won a BM64 here at this distance two runs ago. Tackled Saturday company last start and did a fine job to hang on for third after leading the field for the judge over the Randwick mile. Gets all the favours from gate one and back in midweek company appeals as the one to beat. DORADUS (12) led and tried bravely but found one better when resuming over 1350m at Wyong last time out. Ran some nice races in town last prep so this class rise is not a concern. Fitter and can play a key role out to this more suitable distance. TENDERIZE (5) dashed clear and looked home only to be nailed on the line in a comparable race to this here a fortnight ago. Consistent veteran who will give a good account again. SISTER DAAE (11) is in a rut of finding the line with gusto without winning, extended last time out when a slashing third over a mile at the Farm. A must for trifectas and first fours. STANDARD DEVIATION (7) first-up with J Mac to pilot cannot be left out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen to be with Let's Fly. |
