NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:20 LISTEN LIVE AT SPORTNATION.NZ MAIDEN 2200m
Warrior Boy is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. WARRIOR BOY (1) will get no better chance to win a race than this, and he was a brave runner-up last time out despite being galloped on during the running. Clearly on top for us. KESSEY (3) resumed over this trip here 4 weeks ago and finished third. She strips fitter and is the main threat to the top pick, if there is to be one. AVIVA (4) battled away well enough to finish fourth here nearly 2 weeks ago, and that is good enough to see her in the top 3 this time. LIQUID BLUE (5) bounced back into form when finishing third here over this trip last start, and she has similar claims here. GASGAL (6) is just making up the numbers in a 5-horse field.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Warrior Boy should start the day off on a winning note.
2 11:52 CANTERBURY EQUINE CLINIC MAIDEN 1200m
Forseti to take up the running with Shafted and Chekhov close at hand. FORSETI (4) has plenty of speed when fit, and she will be the likely leader here, but her last 200m is normally her weakest, so you won't quite know you are home until she passes the post first, but in this field, we put her on top. OGUN (1) has fewer convictions than most in this, and he was a game third as a hit favourite here last timeout. With a little more improvement, he can take this out. CHEKHOV (3) has 3 starts in the North Island without threatening the placings, but he will be stronger now after a spell, and the company down this way is more suitable for him. Follow any market leads. TACTIC (5) needs to improve on what she has done so far, but she can do so in this field. Include. HARLOWS PRIDE (6) is the best of the rest by way of drawing in the pole position. She is as good of a top 4 chance as any in this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Forseti and Ogun to make the quinella.
3 12:24 3F AT WEST FITZROY APARTMENTS MAIDEN 1400m
A solid tempo on the cards with Globalist taking charge. GLOBALIST (2) is a lightly tried 5YO gelding heading in the right direction with his form, and he was only a length from the winner in second-place at Oamaru last start. He has poly track form, and from the pole position, he is set to go one better. CALL TO ARMS (1) ran on nicely late when finishing fourth fresh up off a wide gate at Oamaru in the same race as the top pick, and he will continue to improve with more racing. Each way. OUR SALLYANN (5) has gone really close to braking through for an overdue win in 3 of her last 4 starts, and she will be among the hardest to beat again. GOTA HUNCH (3) put in some big strides late when finishing runner-up last time out at Oamaru, and from a superior gate this time, he can figure in the top 3 again. WHITE PALACE (7) will be having her third start in the South Island, and she did enough fresh up here to allow her another chance in this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Globalist can win this.
4 12:56 RANGIORA VET CENTRE EQUINE MAIDEN 1600m
In a race without an obvious leader, either Gap It or Noivern can roll them along. UNSHACKLED (5) has looked a lot better this prep, and whacked away solidly enough when finishing runner-up here nearly 2 weeks ago. This field is no harder, and her first win is not far away. THEE AULD TRICK (6) took some time to reach her peak after being bought out of the North Island, and she was less than a length from the winner when finishing third here last time out. She is peaking at the right time, and would only need to improve a little more to be winning this. NOIVERN (2) was a warm favourite when finishing fourth here over 1400m last start, and the extra 200m is the key for his peak run this prep. Stick with him, and follow your money. GO PRO (3) seems to battle away without threatening in his races, and he draws in the pole position for the third time in a row. Include in all combos just to be safe. RUFUS (1) was much better when finishing third here after settling a fair way back in the field early on, and he will continue to build off that effort. Top 4 value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Thee Auld Trick each way.
5 01:33 NAUTICAL INSURANCE GRAND NATIONAL AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP 2200m
El Ultimo should lead and control the tempo. BAGGIO (1) broke his maiden in outstanding fashion, after years of trying, when demolishing his rivals by over 11 lengths in his penultimate start, and he than got to be within a nose of repeating the dose when finishing second last time out. He is perfectly placed at the amateur rider's level, and he should be hard to hold out again. LITTLE THIEF (6) was back on the flat over a mile here on Saturday when warming up late to finish eighth. He tries the poly circuit for the first time, and will relish the step up to 2200m. The Myers stable is too shrewd not to be respected, especially at this meeting. Each way value. CORRECTION (5) has been thereabouts over this trip in his last couple of starts, and he can run into the top 4 here. WREN (4) sustained a long run off a smart ride here last start when scoring by a nose. She can be hard to catch, but a similar effort will have her right in the finish again. EL ULTIMO (2) has excuses at Ashburton, and he is worth another chance in this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Little Thief each way.
6 02:09 BETAVET NATURAL SOLUTIONS OPEN 2200m
Only a small field with Possess likely to find a comfortable lead. PURPLE PROSE (3) has been thriving on the poly surface this prep, winning 3 of her 6 starts, including a nose second here last time out nearly 2 weeks ago. She meets a very competitive field in this, but is still the one to beat. PROSERVE (1) has gone back to back, including a last start win here 4 weeks ago when making a sharp early move to score by nearly 5 lengths. He is a proven weight carrier, and the hat-trick beckons. STAR BALLOT (2) chased the second pick home in vain as the favourite here last time out, and was runner-up again on the turf by a head before that. Stick with him. POSSESS (5) finished fourth as the favourite on a heavy turf track here on Saturday, and he would not be a surprise winner of this, so follow your money. KICK ON (4) finished a game fifth when back on the flat at Otaki nearly 4 weeks ago, and he has placed in his only start on the poly surface here. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Possess can take this out, but the field is very even.
7 02:44 THANK YOU MARTY FULLER RATING 60 1400m
Tears Of Victory is expected to cross from a wide gate and lead. HONOR MISSION (7) did not come up as expected earlier in the year, although her first 2 starts of that prep were solid enough. She has since being bought and sent South. Warren Kennedy picking up the ride is a strong lead, and if there is any market support for her, then she would be the one to beat in this field. ELEGANT EXPLOSIVE (6) has found it hard to win another race, and will appreciate the drop in class for this assignment. Each way value. LA VOISIN (9) needed her fresh up run here 4 weeks ago badly, and she is expected to be a sharp improver with that run out of the way. A 2kg claim will help her, and a form reversal is on the cards. LANIKAI (5) has switched stables after a disappointing prep earlier in the year, and resumes without a public trial. HIs best form is more than good enough for him to be a big top 4 hope here, so don't risk him. ROLLINS (3) will probably need this run as well, but if the tempo is genuine, then he could have the last say.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Lanikai each way value for us fresh up, and Honor Mission has to be respected.
8 03:19 HOTELIERS CHALLENGE RATING 65 1600m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Fah Rong. VOGUISH (7) lifted late to score by a head here 4 weeks ago when record an overdue maiden win, and now that the penny has dropped, she has the scope to go right on with the job. On top again. REKINDLE (6) was also an overdue maiden winner when getting the job done here by a length and a half nearly 2 weeks ago. She only needs a touch of luck from a wide gate to be an each-way threat again. WANDERIN SPELLE (1) has found it hard to win another race, but his form has been near enough lately. A wide gate won't make it easy, but he is still a solid top 4 chance in an open contest. BELLUTTA (13) was not too far away here last start when following on from a gritty fourth before that, both times over 2200m. All of her 3 career wins have been here over 1600m, so we are giving her another chance at juicy each-way odds. RED STAR BELLA (4) has held her form nicely since winning at this level here in May. Stick with her for all top 4 combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Voguish is good enough to win again.
9 03:54 POLYTRACK CHAMPIONSHIP 1200m
Holdem, Graeme John and Mr Fortrus to match motors but there will be other pressure. TUMUCH (1) capped off some solid form with a welcome return to the winner's circle at Oamaru just over 7 weeks ago. His record on this course is 6 starts for 4 wins and 2 minor placings, and he would have been specifically targeted for this race. He goes up in weight, but is still the one to beat for us. BOSS 'N' HIGHHEELS (5) lifted late after hitting the front early in the run home here nearly 2 weeks ago, scoring by a short-head, and she will appreciate the 2kg drop for this. She is as game as they come, and her usual honest effort can be expected. LA BELLA NERA (4) is still building up her fitness levels, and her last start third was full of merit. albeit in a 6-horse field, and from a handy gate, she can figure in the finish again. GRAEME JOHN (7) blew out badly when resuming from as spell at Oamaru 17 days ago. He normally improves quickly with racing, and is worth including in all top 4 combos here. ELUSIVE IMPACT (8)  SUGGESTED PLAY: Tumuch can win again.
10 04:29 RACECOURSE HOTEL & MOTOR LODGE RATING 65 1200m
Strong tempo with Sailor Girl, Eastandwest and The Fed Express going forward ahead of Driftin and Ayumi. AYUMI (8) was a beaten favourite in her first 2 starts since relocating South to join the powerful David Walsh stable, and then put it all together to demolish her maiden rivals by over 3 lengths here 4 weeks ago. Now that the penny has dropped, we think she can repeat the dose here. DRIFTIN (6) saw her form decline after scoring an upset win at Tauherenikau fresh up when last in work. She resumes with the advantage of the pole position, and it would be no surprise to see her take them all the way in this. Follow any market support. CAPTAIN ROY (3) has continued to race honestly since shifting to the South Island, and has been in the money either side of his overdue maiden win here in his penultimate start. Dropping back to 1200m will do her no harm, and he can figure in the top 3 again. THE FED EXPRESS (7) did not have much go right in 3 starts last prep, but he is better than that, and with a more time to mature, he can give this field a shake fresh up. PHAZED (9) is a top 4 hope.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Driftin each way, and add Ayumi in all quinella's.
