Scotchmans Hill Maiden Plate 1012m
Plenty of pace from the outset with Done Leavy and Cabaret Queen leading the charge. Interesting way to start the day and DONE LEAVY (6) looks to have struck a nice race after an adequate debut, where she finished fourth over 1200m at Yarra Valley. Knocked up late that day after leading, so drop in trip suits and kept up to the mark with a recent Flemington trial placing. TOROKAWA (10) missed the frame on debut, beaten 2.75 lengths when fourth over 1000m at Cranbourne, but will be better for that experience and there's probably not as much top-end class here. CABARET QUEEN (5) stuck on well last start to finish second over 1000m at Pakenham after showing good early speed. That was an improved effort on the first-up run and she could go on with it here. UYUNI (11) is resuming from a spell and having her first run for Matt Jenkins. Comes into this off a second placing in a Cranbourne 1000m trial, so should be primed to go. JASMINA (4) disappointed in two runs last prep but has changed stables since and was a nice recent trial winner. SUGGESTED PLAY: Done Leavy to win. |

Tobin Brothers Maiden Plate 1625m
Genuine tempo with Phantom's Chase leading the way. Look to be three key players here. BLING BABY (7) is a four-start maiden who resumed from a spell last start and was beaten 3.5 lengths when fifth over 1400m at Pakenham. That was a good platform for this and suited up in trip. MONSUN'S PRIDE (3) showed good early dash last time out and led for most of the way before being claimed late to finish 1.3 lengths away in third over 1400m at this track, where it can often be an advantage to be on-speed. Should be ready to 1600m third-up. ENCHANTED LASS (9) is racing well and is close to a win, the latest effort a solid third at this track over 1600m. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run and Dan Stackhouse a big edge. PHANTOM'S CHASE (5) raced consistently last campaign and while most starts were in races longer than this, it looks a suitable kick-off after some solid jumpouts. DUNLEER LAD (1) will be better for the first-up run, suited up in trip and will appreciate firmer footing. SUGGESTED PLAY: Bling Baby each-way. |

Evergreen Turf Maiden Plate 1625m
Pace only fair with Genomic rolling to the lead ahead of Just Curious and Half Scotch. Not a bad maiden this. GENOMIC (3) is closing in on a win after two consecutive minor placings, the latest when third over 1400m at Ballarat in a strong $75k maiden on Discovery Day. This looks a good progression and should be ready for 1600m now, but there a few who will make him work for it. Namely MELEYS (12), who has been in the money at both runs this time in, the latest effort a second over 1350m at Donald. Straight up to 1600m but that shouldn't bother the daughter of Fierce Impact. CAMELOT TIME (2) hit the line nicely to finish second, beaten a head, on debut last start over 1350m at Donald. Will relish the extra distance, the big question is how big a start he will be spotting them from the wide draw. HIMALAYAN (9) improved up to 1400m last time, so might even be better off at 1625m. SUGGESTED PLAY: Genomic to win. |

O'Briens Refrigeration Maiden Plate 2238m
Strong tempo expected from Sweet Little Mary, Explain and Egyptian Legend. ANGEL FEET (7) is in the country's top stable and had been building to something heading into last start, when he was beaten a long way, but by a horse who looks to have an exciting future. Might even be better suited back slightly in trip. ZIKRON (6) placed on debut then could only manage eighth last start, beaten 9 lengths over 1850m when he stayed at the same trip. Was probably looking for further that day and he gets that here. CERTAINLY QUIET (11) has put together back-to-back placings, the latest when 5.5 lengths away in third over 2000m at Pakenham when she was handy all the way. Peak fitness now and draws to be prominent again. EGYPTIAN LEGEND (12) should also be at peak fitness and getting within 3-1/4 lengths of Arabian Prince two back reads well for this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Angel Feet to win. |

Global Turf BM62 Handicap 2238m
A pedestrian gallop without a recognised on-pacer engaged. MORTHAN EFFICIENT (6) progressed nicely last start when he did his best work late to finish a close third over 2200m at Donald after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Race looks to have fallen in his lap after a couple of keys scratchings. WARCHIME (1) raced below his best last time when sixth over 2000m at Ballarat, beaten 3.5 lengths, but has the talent to return to form back in grade here. LUCKETT (3) progressed nicely last time out to finish just 1.3 lengths from Quite The Lass and that form looks pretty good now after Quite The Lass was narrowly beaten at Pakenham last night. THINK YOUR AMAZING (4) has only had the two starts but looks to have more upside than most of them. The form from the maiden win was franked to a degree last weekend when the horse he beat, Shotaro, broke its maiden in style. SUGGESTED PLAY: Morthan Efficient to win. |

Roderick Insurance Brokers BM56 Handicap 1625m
In a race without an obvious leader, either One More Star or Lucky Compass can roll them along. EVERY LITTLE THING (5) raced below her best last time when sixth over 2042m at Ballarat, beaten 8 lengths, but hasn't been in 56 grade since the win here, over this trip, four runs back. That made it two from two at the track, so she obviously loves the place. MORISU OJO (1) hasn't started since the G1 VRC Oaks and while she failed to beat a runner home there, earlier in spring she was beaten just 1-3/4 lengths in an 1800m Listed event the start after breaking her maiden over 1600m. This looks a suitable first-up option. ONE MORE STAR (4) is back from BM70 grade and while beaten 9 lengths that day, she was not far off the runner-up and looks much better placed here. LUCKY COMPASS (8) held on well to finish second last time out over 1512m at Geelong after leading for much of the way. Well-placed and worth including. PARVATI PARTY (3) is yet to place in 7 first-up runs but is in new hands and did win a recent trial, so might be an improver this time. SUGGESTED PLAY: Every Little Thing each-way. |

Picklebet's Pickle Perks BM56 Handicap 1425m
First Tosen and Paint Me Red to take up the running at a strong tempo. SEETHRU (1) is spotting race fitness to a lot of rivals here, but it looks a suitable kick-off for the gelding who was a narrow runner-up in a Sandown BM70 last prep. Trialling like he can run a race. THUNDER HAWK (4) has been in the market at her last couple of starts but hasn't made an impression. This is much easier, however, so an improved showing would not shock. YOU NEVER CAN TELL (6) was in contention on the corner and ran a better race last start to finish a close third over 1512m at Geelong. Might have to do some work from the gate, but good enough with the right run. BOW RIBBON (7) wasn't disgraced first-up then caught the eye late last time out when beaten less than 1.5 lengths at Seymour. Looks ready to peak. SUGGESTED PLAY: Seethru to win. |

Corio Waste Management BM62 Handicap 1012m
Plenty of speed from Mosquito Award and Nasraawy. SEVEN OCEANS (7) is a filly who's always had a bit of a rap on her and she's gone close in this grade before. Probably found the class a bit too rich last time out but has had a break since and the jumpouts have hinted she'll be ready to go first-up. DOC'S NIPPER (3) stuck on well last start to finish second over 1000m at Pakenham when camped just off the speed but he finds a more suitable race this time. Shouldn't be lacking for fitness now third-up from a spell. MOSQUITO AWARD (5) is a sister to Swats That who had a brief but fruitful debut prep and has trialled like she'll pick up where she left off. TESORO MIO (4) has been kept fresh since winning over 900m at Corowa but was kept up to the mark with a recent Bendigo trial placing. SUGGESTED PLAY: Seven Oceans to win. |
