NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:01 TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200m
Stylish Diamond to take up the running with Big Barry and Sport close at hand. DAZZLING GEISHA (6) came from a long way back when beaten 1.5L at Mackay on debut and then tacked the $151,000 QTIS 2yo Plate here and found that a stretch too far. Finally draws a low gate and is likely to settle a lot closer. In the premier local stable, this is winnable with the extra fitness. SPORT (3) resumed against the above at Mackay, bet into $2.4 favouritism, missing by 2L. Was beaten 1L this track/trip, following and will be better for that. Has winning claims. STYLISH DIAMOND (5) resumed improved, narrowly beaten in an Open 2 at Mackay. Comes back home, and she has claims with the extra fitness, positioning forward. FORMAL AFFAIR (7) raced at Ipswich on debut over a short course and she was in the market. Draws inside and can improve over the longer sprint. THE BARBER (2) debuts with the blinkers on, and his latest trial here was good. A betting watch.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Dazzling Geisha.
2 01:36 GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Handicap (QTIS bonuses applicable 2&3YO Only) 1050m
Tricky one to map with a number of first starters but over this trip there is good speed anticipated. BONNIE BOUQUET (6) has switched from a Victorian stable to Stuart Kendrick on a 34-day turnaround. She was beaten 1.5L over 1412m at Echuca when last seen, and following sharp jumpouts, she'd been well supported over 1170m at Wangaratta on debut. Has a handy 3kg claim, and this is winnable if she's presented on song. BOWDENE (3) was on speed and just missed here on debut. Resumes owning two sharp 1000m trials at the track and has plenty of scope for improvement. Draws out but has plenty of early speed. JOLLY JAPES debuts for the McCall yard and has been well educated. She can be very competitive on what we've seen. I WANT IT ALL (7) (8) is a local on debut and just missed in a recent 1000m trial here. Maps well, and she's also worth a betting watch.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bonnie Bouquet if the betting suggests stable confidence.
3 02:11 ROCKHAMPTON CUP TICKETS ON SALE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1400m
They should get along early on with plenty of speed on show. SARAQAEL (1) won and then placed here at this level, before tackling a $100,000 QTIS 3&4yo Classic at the track, where he folded up from the speed well-supported. This suits a lot better, and Satherley rides and trains. He's won 5/13 and 4x at the track and can add to that record. WAYNO (6) didn't manage the 13 gate here last time, but his form prior stacks right up. Tackles this distance for the first time, and it's likely to suit. BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME (2) was outgraded at Eagle Farm last time but went close over 1300m in a 70 at Toowoomba prior. Was narrowly beaten in a 68 at Doomben in January and can use the inside gate. Well placed, so expecting a strong run. LEICA FLAMINGO (4) is free running and followed a comfortable Maiden win this track/trip with a near miss at Mackay. This is tougher, but she sits down in the weights and will give a sight.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Saraqael to win.
4 02:46 ASHTON ENGINEERING BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (QTIS bonuses applicable for 3,4&5YO's) 1600m
Replace The Ace has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. SMART MISSION (3) scored here this grade first-up and then just missed over 1400m in a CL3. Has the inside gate, and Cormack stays aboard. Fitter again, and he's won over 1600m. He can bounce back for the premier local stable. BOLD BLAZE (6) was outgraded at Eagle Farm, but his form here prior stacks right up. Maps well and switching back to 1600m should go close. SAN JUAN (8) had been threatening here before delivering a Townsville Maiden win over this trip, backed off the map. Has an awkward barrier, but back-to-back wins can't be ruled out. BO BO BEWARE (4) raced well winning a 62 this track/trip, and then tackled 1800m at Mackay and placed third, well beaten. Maps well, and back home, he can get back on track.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Smart Mission to win.
5 03:21 CQ FASTENERS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1050m
Good pace with Neverenoughlego, Marellity and Rebelious Red prominent. NEVERENOUGHLEGO (5) brought strong form from a top Victorian stable and belted the Maidens here by 4.5L off a 58-day freshen. A senior hoop replaces the apprentice, and he has more to give. Nicely placed to double the win tally. TEN CARAT LUCY (6) peaks off three narrow defeats at the track, and she was heavily bet over 1200m the latest. Maps well, and the 2kg claim is handy. Comes back to the shorter sprint, and she should be right in it again. BLITZWATER (3) resumes and raced in a rich Quality at the Sunshine Coast when last seen on race day. Went close over 1200m at the Gold Coast in a 58 as a $2.6F, the one before, and owns a recent trial placing. Draws low and a bold return is likely. MARELLITY (7) was a bit plainer over this trip at Mackay, but her form prior was pretty solid. Tumbles in weight this grade with a 3kg claim atop, and that brings her into it.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Neverenoughlego can go on with the job.
6 03:58 CJB CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1050m
Loads of pressure, primarily from Universal Harmony, Dragon's Snip and Been A Secret. KING SPIRIT (1) missed a nose here in Open grade when heavily bet off back-to-back wins at the track. Then tackled a tougher Open at the Sunshine Coast, where he didn't finish it off. Gets in well with a 3kg claim in easier company and he can add to his impressive record at the track. UNIVERSAL HARMONY (5) is a leader who has a super record this course and distance. Was last seen winning a CL6 easily over 1200m at Mackay and he flies fresh. May control the race from an inside gate and 3x winning rider McIver is reunited. ELECTRIC BRAE (9) sits way down in the weights and has pieces of form that would see her very competitive. Has some gear switches for this. PRETTY SLICK (8) found won better this track/trip in a 64 and had raced in Open grade prior. Carries 4kg less with Stewart up, and has to be considered as well.  SUGGESTED PLAY: King Spirit to win.
7 04:38 KORTE GROUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1300m
From the outside draw All Business spears to the lead and sets a slick tempo. This is competitive. BETTER THAN WORDS (9) resumed with a comfortable CL4 win here over 1200m and then lacked finishing dash in easier under 60kg. She's won 2/2 third-up and gets in well with the 3kg claim. Strips fitter and she looks the testing material. DETERMINATION (7) was below his best last time in a 65 at Mackay, but his form here prior stacks right up. He will likely push forward and can bounce back into contention. SUJEED (11) found one better over 1300m at this track/grade, beaten just 0.7 lengths. Has been briefly freshened, and he always puts in. Settles back and will hit the line hard. VICTORY'S GHOST (6) went close here and then deserves his 65 win over 1200m at Thangool. Draws handy and races forward. In the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Better Than Words appeals most.
