NUM TIME COMMENT
1 06:15 Ladbrokes Popular SRM Handicap 1600m
A solid tempo on the cards with Itsukushima taking charge. ITSUKUSHIMA (1) finally broke through for a much-deserved win last start here having finished runner-up in five previous starts. That was a 0-66 and this is a slight rise in grade but it looks very winnable again and he can go on with it. PHINEAS (5) wasn't far behind Itsukushima there having won his maiden well here prior. He's still lightly raced and can continue to improve. SOTOMAYOR (4) has won two on the bounce, too good in a BM62 at Wangaratta last time out. This is a bit harder again but he should measure up. BLAKMAX (2) is going better than it looks. The placing at Pakenham in a BM70 two back reads well for this. AUSTRATA (3) can be working home late.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Itsukushima to win again.
2 06:45 Minuteman Press Narre Warren Handicap 1200m
A solid tempo anticipated with Lim's Bighorn and Celsius Star ahead of Capper Thirtynine and Highland Harley. LAA DE SHA (2) is racing well this time in having won nicely over this track and trip first up, following it up with two strong efforts in handy races, beaten a neck by Immortal Star in a BM78 at Flemington last time out. This suits an he should go close. GOLD MEDALLIST (5) won her first four races in a row, resuming as favourite at Sale when dropping out after a wide run to finish last. She's better than that and should be a quick improver. CAPPER THIRTYNINE (4) was just fair first up off a short break at Caulfield but wasn't beaten all that far behind a good one in Gallant Son. His best is good enough to figure here. CELSIUS STAR (1) likes to mix his form, poor in the Gallant Son race last time but good prior behind Immortal Star which ties in. LIM'S BIGHORN (3) was fair fresh and is in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Laa De Sha to win.
3 07:15 ACW Facility Services Handicap 1000m
Plenty of first starters engaged which muddies the map a little. It is fair to assume a solid tempo. DANCE THE BOOGIE (3) resumes having debuted in a two-horse field at Bendigo. She finished second (or last) there but the winner boasted stronger form than maiden grade. She's jumped out well and should be a quick improver this time around. FLASH OF CLASS (4) also resumes having run a sound race on debut at Flemington in the Maribyrnong Trial. She should take catching. SHY MISS (9) is a filly by Stay Inside on debut for the Moody & Coleman yard. She was a $400,000 purchase who won her latest trial and looks ready to go. SIMPLY STEFFI (10) was okay on debut in the Merson Cooper behind Eternal Warrior, working home fairly there in a bunched finish. She can do better here. HANDEE (5) is a filly by Hanseatic on debut who has been jumping out well and has claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Dance The Boogie to win.
4 07:45 Browns Sawdust & Shavings Handicap 1000m
Small field but expecting a genuine tempo with plenty of pace engaged. Tricky race. KATSU (1) resumes. He gave away 8kg to the winner at his only run last time in, his first and only run for the Hayes yard. He's trialled well leading into this and his best form when with the Begg yard would win this, even with the huge impost here. SPARRING (3) ran on well for second on resumption here over 955m, beaten a long neck. He should prove hard to hold out. ALWAYS ENUFF (4) ran a very good race at 100-1 in Listed company last time out, beaten 1.2 lengths into fourth. Have to respect off that. PHILOSOPHER (2) struggles to win but is going quite well for this and draws for a soft run. TOOKAY PETE (5) is flying in easier company and has to be respected.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Katsu to win.
5 08:15 Springvale RSL Handicap 1000m
Hot pace certain with Frostnip, No Limitation and Snapshot keen to take up the running. Tough. FROSTNIP (5) was well below her best at Pakenham second up but had run a very good race fresh at Geelong in a 3yo open affair when just finding one better. She may need her own way in front to settle and could get that here. NO LIMITATION (1) was dominant as a short-priced favourite two back over this track and trip in a Class 1, outclassed in G3 company at Caulfield last time behind Alpha Sophie. This suits much better, go close. BLETHYN (2) resumes. He was close up first up last time in at Moonee Valley and has the ability to be figuring late in the piece. SNAPSHOT (4) resumes having won both starts to date. This will take a fair bit more winning but she's progressive. NIGHT FLASH (6) next best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Frostnip on top.
6 08:45 Enterprise Stationers Office Choice Berwick Handicap 1600m
Genuine tempo from Trinity's D'oro leading Stage 'N' Screen. Looks a good race for STAGE 'N' SCREEN (1) to return to winning ways. She proved too strong at Sandown Lakeside two back in a handy race, running on well for third at Pakenham last time behind Paradise City who has since won in town on Saturday. She gets to a mile now which can suit and she should take a power of beating. INDIAN JEWEL (6) put in a much better effort last time at Sandown Hillside when just finding one better in a strongly run race. She can mix her form a bit but is good enough to win this. CAT NOIR (2) is coming off a win at Colac in easier company but this looks a nice progression. CHARMING DEEL (3) needs tempo on but has the ability to challenge if things go her way. TRINITY'S D'ORO (7) can figure on an each-way basis.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stage 'N' Screen to win.
7 09:15 Rhino the Wrecker Handicap 2025m
Moderate tempo with Thinking Gold leading the way. Keen on THE WESTERN FRONT (6) getting over a trip third up. Two runs back have been good, close up at Flemington fresh then strong to the line again at Pakenham when unsuited by the lack of tempo and staying at 1600m. He gets to 2025m now in what looks a winnable race and while drawn to get right back again he can round these up. ALL SO CLEAR (2) doesn't win out of turn but is building nicely this time in, on their heels at Kyneton last time out. He should get a nice run just behind the pace and go well. WARCHIME (7) won well two back at Seymour, close up again here last time out. He'll roll forward and give a sight. POWERFUL TORQUE (8) beat Warchime last time out, he'll just need a touch of luck slotting in early to be going close once more. SING FOR PEACE (1) will want further and hurdles but ran quite well fresh.  SUGGESTED PLAY: The Western Front to win.
