NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:47 JOHN MCGRATH AUTO GROUP PLATE 1000m
Expecting Wild Romeo to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. BIVACCO (1) just missed here fresh before a 2L defeat at Gosford last time out. Third-up now and back to this level which looks ideal. He can roll forward from the draw and further improvement is in store. WILD ROMEO (2) stretched to 1200m last start at this track but couldn't hold on when setting the tempo, finishing 2.5L behind a good winner. Back to 1000m and an inside draw are both big ticks. Heywood remains in the saddle and a forward showing is expected. CHEEKY SORT (6) jumped favourite in both runs last campaign and has shown promising signs at the trials leading into this. The fresh rating last campaign from Kembla Grange stacks up and she can return on a positive note. BONDI STELLA (5) has been sound at the trials leading into her debut and an inside draw can help her chances. XCEPTIONAL SPIRIT (7) was impressive at the trials coming into this and she's not to be discounted.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bivacco can shed his maiden tag.
2 01:23 GR1 MEDIA HANDICAP 1300m
Red Light Rachel should lead at a slick tempo. SILVER TOUCH (2) is a beautifully bred filly on resumption after being heavily backed on debut. She was left with far too much to do there, but did close off nicely behind the winner. Heywood's booking signals intent and she boasts a nomination for the Derby and Oaks this autumn. Can make a statement on resumption. REDOLENT (8) stuck on well behind a good maiden winner here last start, though she did have every chance in the run. Up slightly in trip may hold the key and she drops 1kg with Guymer hopping on board. Can improve second-up. ASTOUND BEAUTY (4) has shown enough at the trials coming into this on debut and makes plenty of appeal. Ford has options from the draw and getting out to 1300m on debut looks a good move. Wouldn't surprise to see her in the finish. GAELIC GEM (5) jumps straight out to 1300m but the gun for hire Boudvillain is booked. Has to be included. RED LIGHT RACHEL (6) was solid on debut here a fortnight ago and can't be left out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Silver Touch looks the one to beat.
3 02:00 TBC DISTRIBUTION HANDICAP 1600m
Tricky, given the lack of early speed. FALCON LAIR (4) got back and hit the line nicely on resumption over the 1300m journey there and this looks a beautiful setup for him today. He gets straight out to the mile, draws the inside and the form out of his last start has worked out well. Guymer rides now and he can get back to winning ways. BRAZEN CRIME (3) was just awful in the Highway last start, getting a long way back and never looking a winning hope. He did close soundly however and getting back to this level is a big tick. Expect Heywood to be a bit more aggressive on the gelding and he can improve drastically with the blinkers going on. STAR BLING (7) sat back but rounded up her rivals with ease over the mile at the Sapphire Coast last time out. Has hit her straps in recent events and maps nicely here. Can feature again. MISS STALWART (6) steps out to the mile for the first time. Rarely runs a bad race and has to be included. FLASHY ICON (5) is racing well and won't be far away.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Falcon Lair on top.
4 02:36 KENNARDS HIRE PLATE 1600m
In the absence of noted leaders, Autumn Winter and Velia may be the ones to set a moderate tempo. ARTIE STEAMER (1) won running away from his opponents at Gosford last time out, turning in an impressive performance to score by 2.6L. He lands in a CL1 here on the back of that effort and Boudvillain's booking is a big push for his chances. He looks set to go back-to-back. YES I WIN (5) was just fair at Newcastle on resumption, but he had trialled well going into that run. Back to Country level here is a big tick and jumping straight out to the mile looks a winning move. Wouldn't surprise to see him improve sharply. RULE OF FAITH (8) won well two back before closing nicely from last at Newcastle last time out. She drops back a level here and getting up to the mile looks a good move. Wouldn't surprise to see her bounce back to winning ways. ARISTOCRAT (3) missed last start on a Heavy deck at Nowra, but if he can run up to that effort back on top of the ground today, he won't be far away. VELIA (6) is next best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Artie Steamer can win again.
5 03:11 CASINO CANBERRA CANBERRA GUINEAS PREVIEW 1400m
Triptolemus should find the front with Spread The Love and Zoufield on his heels. SPREAD THE LOVE (6) showed plenty in his debut campaign, missing on a wet deck before the break, but he didn't lose any admirers. His recent trial coming into this was strong and that form was franked earlier this week. Should get every chance to punch his ticket to the Guineas. WOLF ISLAND (5) looks targeted towards this race with the booking of Cahill a big push for his chances. He closed nicely last time out over the 1300m journey and now he looks ready to peak third-up into the campaign. Can take the next step. ZOUFIELD (2) gets the blinkers on today, as well as the ultimate gear change coming into this on resumption. Costin takes the ride first-up and he did show good ability in his debut campaign. Can play a leading role. TRIPTOLEMUS (3) disappointed last time out, but his fresh win suggested he was a gelding on the rise. Can bounce back. CASHBOOK (1) is not to be discounted.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Spread The Love can return a winner.
6 03:46 ETS REFRIGERATION BLACK OPAL PREVIEW 1000m
Many of these two-year-olds step out for the first time so a strong pace is anticipated. BAR JESTER (1) led and won the Clan O'Sullivan in impressive fashion, with the form from behind her being franked in recent times. The inside draw should see him right on the pace once again for Keatings and they meet at level weights once again. Can repeat the dose. MUSIC TIME (3) couldn't get by Bar Jester first-up before bolting in here a fortnight ago. Drawing out there looked a big key to his win and he draws away from the rail again today for Boudvillain. Will be spotting Bar Jester a start but should be winding up late. THE WILDLING (10) looked good in a recent trial and her form through the G3 Gimcrack stands right out. Will need some luck from the barrier, but there's no doubt she possesses some talent. SOMERFORD (9) has shown promising signs at the trials and is not to be discounted on debut. PAULINE'S DREAM (8) turned in a sneaky good trial behind Spread The Love coming into this and represents some value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bar Jester can go back-to-back.
7 04:23 CIVIUM PROPERTY GROUP CANBERRA CUP PREVIEW 2000m
Not much early speed on paper and Captain Fenkel is the most likely leader. SCARLI JAPALI (3) got the job done in town two back before a 2.3L defeat most recently in stronger company at Canterbury. Keatings remains in the saddle as she returns to Country level and she's going better now than when she won this race 12 months ago. Can storm home in impressive fashion. BURGUNDY GIRL (6) has been ridden more aggressively in her past couple, ending her winning drought last time out at the Sapphire Coast. Suspect she'll be ridden similarly from a good draw again today and she carries no weight after the claim of Brookes. Can feature in the finish once again. CAPTAIN FENKEL (1) has form that ties in through Scarli Japali recently and wasn't far away last week at Canterbury. The in-form Ramsbotham takes 1.5kg off and another forward showing is expected. WINNING POINT (5) was unsuited by the tempo last start at Kembla but closed strongly. Won't be far away. SEMPER FORTIS (4) can feature in the finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Scarli Japali can get the job done.
8 05:03 TAB FEDERAL - NATIONAL SPRINT PREVIEW 1200m
With little in the way of early speed Acheson may well find the front. RINGAROSA (2) is on the quick turnaround after a 3.1L defeat at Canterbury last week. This looks a much easier race than the one she contested there and the winkers go on for the first time today. Ramsbotham's claim comes in handy and she can get back to winning ways. KEIKOKU (6) was very impressive over 1300m last start but couldn't fend off the winner who nabbed him late. He was off a short freshen there and will no doubt be better for that effort. Maps beautifully here for Martin and it wouldn't surprise to see him go one better. LOVE SHUCK (3) hits this third-up and ready to fire after doing some work early and tiring out of contention last time. Winkers replace the visors here and he'll be well-positioned from the draw. MY LAST HOORAY (4) stuck on well on resumption at the Sapphire Coast and will be improved for that run. Keep safe. CHASING A QUID (7) closed strongly last start and now draws inside. Can be in the finish again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ringarosa gets the nod.
9 05:43 ALAN RUMMERY BOOKMAKER - SHANE CONNOLLY MEMORIAL HANDICAP 1200m
Our Little Star has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. SHYAMALAN (1) is on debut for the Kelley stable following a 1.8L defeat at Wodonga 47 days ago. The blinkers go back on today and he'll find this a touch easier than what he was going around in recently. The inside draw is a big tick and he can make a statement. SHOWTIME MAGGIE (7) comes through a solid race here last time out over 1300m and that form may have been franked earlier in the card. She should get every chance from the good draw and she still possesses good upside. Can figure in the finish again. COSMIC ATTRACTION (6) had trialled plainly coming in and her fresh run left plenty to the imagination when beaten as the favourite. Blinkers go on now and she should be better out to this trip. Can improve. OUR LITTLE STAR (3) is racing in good order and won't be far away once again. NEFRADITE (5) won't be far away on the quick turnaround.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Shyamalan can win the last.
