NUM TIME COMMENT
1 05:45 Ladbrokes Mega Multi Maiden Plate 1400m
Carry Trade will stride forward but there are few debutants who can keep her busy. Some likely types engaged and it's competitive. PRIVATEER (6) is up and running and second-up led and was narrowly beaten over 1200m at Seymour. The speed bred filly has the blinkers applied for the first time and Ben Melham is aboard today. In a top barn and she should manage the longer sprint. ALL TOO SINGLE (1) settled back and dug deep to miss by a half-length over 1300m at Sandown Hillside. Hard fit and Newitt will give her every chance from the handy gate. Is sure to appreciate the extra metres. OTTOLENGHI (5) resumes and two back she was beaten just 1.3L at Seymour behind the handy Ruska Roma on a heavy track. Will race on the dry today but the form is there. Has jumped out well and maps for a soft run. SILENT ANSWER (8) and SEYCHELLES (7) both resume and have shown enough to take seriously.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Privateer.
2 06:15 9Mile Fresh Maiden Plate 1400m
No surprise if the debutants played a key role in the tempo of the race with little speed on paper. LIGHT MOVES (5) jumped out well but had no luck here over 1200m on debut. He was expected to feature and the blinkers go straight on. Ben Melham sticks aboard and with average luck he can fight out the finish. BALLISTIC ROMEO (4) resumes and his debut effort was solid enough. Has had three sharp Mornington jumpouts and race rider Jamie Melham was in the saddle the latest. Everything points to a bold return. TALKIN' STERN (9) finished 3.5 lengths back in fourth on debut over 1200m at this track last start. Out in trip and look for a big run. POWER PLAYED (8) didn't do much on debut but with the benefit of race experience now on board can feature.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Light Moves to win.
3 06:45 Beraldo Coffee Maiden Plate (Inglis Xtra Bonus) 1600m
Butterscotch should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. MR INDEPENDENT (2) tackled this trip second-up and was narrowly beaten at Sandown-Hillside. Fitter again and won't have to improve much to take this out. BUTTERSCOTCH (6) led and went close in the Mr Independent races and will be further improved. Keeps Craig Williams and is sure to give a big sight. ARDASHIR (1) resumes and the Irish import has his first outing for Ciaron Maher. Placed over a staying distance his solitary start, but he's had three jumpouts and may be forward enough. The race day betting should tell the tale. SHOTARO (4) wasn't far from the winner on debut last time out when finishing seventh over 1400m at Sale. Stretches out in trip and fitter can give this a shake.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mr Independent appeals most.
4 07:15 Superior Food Services Handicap 1000m
Barari and Viasain to take it up. TRAPPER JOHN (6) jumped out well and then couldn't have been more impressive winning a Sandown-Hillside Maiden after a slow off ($3.0F). Draws low again and Ben Melham will be looking to settle him closer. He's sure to have come on and can take the next step. VIASAIN (2) jumped $2.4F at Geelong and found a couple better. He was good on the Lakeside prior and has the blinkers applied for the first time. Peaks now and deserves another chance. BARARI (8) resumes for Ciaron Maher and has shown enough to say this is winnable. Led and won by a space in the country in her only fresh outing and was close up in town the two following. Won a recent Ballarat jumpout and Jamie Melham is a positive jockey engagement. LA ROUX (5) was well educated and ran a decent number when narrowly beaten at Moe on debut. Fitter and she has claims as well. VOLATILE (3) deserves consideration at a price.  SUGGESTED PLAY: The promising Trapper John can go on with the job.
5 07:45 Trusteel Fabrications Handicap 1200m
A solid tempo on the cards with Migliorare heading them off. DAMEHOOD (2) looked a run short at Caulfield first up in stronger. The gate is handy enough and Ethan Brown sticks and he's flying. The narrow defeat two back on the Lakeside reads well. KOKAKO (5) resumes with winning rider Jamie Melham in the saddle. Won this grade fresh at Bendigo two back and pulled up with an issue following. Has a soft draw and her Cranbourne jumpouts have been sharp. MIGLIORARE (6) disappointed second-up but led and won a Cranbourne Maiden easily prior. The tongue tie is applied for the first time and quick improvement is likely. ALLINTHETIMING (1) won well fresh at Mt Gambier over 1212m. Goes well second up and have to respect the ease of that win but this is tougher.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Damehood on top.
6 08:15 Ray White Pakenham & Officer Handicap 1400m
Moderate tempo with Insain Harry leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. INSAIN HARRY (3) has been saved for this and is a decent chance to deliver the hat-trick. Just missed as favourite here last time and on what we saw in that, the longer sprint will hold no fears. Has the blinkers on for the first time and is the one to beat. STAY SILENT (2) led and won this grade/distance at Sale and has more up his sleeve. Ethan Brown is a key jockey switch and he rates a threat. MOUNT SABYINYO (5) improved sharply leading and winning a Cranbourne Maiden by 3.3L as favourite and then held that figure on the Hillside. Is likely to present at peak fitness and can use the inside barrier. He can bounce without surprise. AXIOM (7) resumed here over shorter and found a place after a tough run. Steps up to 1300m here with a key gear switch and a soft gate. He can get into the money.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Insain Harry.
7 08:45 Stables Plus Handicap 2000m
It could be a trot and canter given the lack of pace engaged. MR BANNOCK (2) has been nudged out both starts this preparation and his latest over 1800m on the Hillside in stronger caught the eye. Has an awkward barrier but rates strongly and the step up to 2000m is ideal. CONVO (10) peaks for Ciaron Maher and is busting to win. Placed in a 66 this trip at Cranbourne last time and can fight out the finish with average luck in the run. CROSSOVERKID (6) resumed over a mile at Cranbourne and just missed as favourite. He's been kept on the fresh side and has placed 2/3 this distance and 3/3 second-up. Has more to give and the winkers go on again. A chance. Including MICKIDABEEL (1) at a price. Did a big job to deliver a Werribee Maiden over a mile and will be fitter. This is a lot harder but he will enjoy a soft run and will win more races.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mr Bannock to win.
