NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:30 Party With The Ponies 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m
Solid tempo anticipated with Burleigh and Miss Ellaneous pressing forward with Just My Lot not far away. MISS ELLANEOUS (11) has threatened in much better races and needed the first-up outing in a strong form race at Geelong. She missed a whisker at Ballarat at her only second-up outing, and John Allen is a positive jockey engagement. Maps well, and this is a suitable assignment. BEAU STRADA (7) performed well enough on debut and then improved sharply, beaten a nose at Traralgon, leading from start to finish. Will likely get a dryer surface today, but stays down in the weights and has solid each-way claims. BURLEIGH (1) brings country placings to peak and has scope for more improvement. Was backed off the map at Ararat last time, and Coffey rides from the inside barrier. Has been kept on the fresh side and deserves another chance. Wary of CLEVOR TREVER (3), who debuts for the Paynes. Has been well educated and just missed in a recent Caulfield Heath trial. Egan sticks with that and can use the inside barrier. SWOBODA (14) has a wide gate but went well at Ararat first-up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Miss Ellaneous.
2 02:00 bet365 Same Race Multi Maiden Plate 1100m
Kings Commission should lead at a strong tempo. Tricky and the race day betting will be instructive. INSAIN HARRY (17) resumes and has switched barns. Placed 6/9 in a deep initial preparation, and he's looked sharp in his two Flemington jumpouts. Riordan sticks aboard from those, and he maps well enough. He's been nudged out in stronger races and shapes as the one to beat. DYNAMITE DANCER (3) had prepared well and found a place at Warrnambool on debut. He's sure to keep improving and can make the finish with average luck in the run. SALIZOU (14) debuts and won her most recent jumpout. Yendall rides and will give her every chance from an inside gate. KINGS COMMISSION (2) creates interest resuming off a long break for the Hawkes yard. He has the ability, but has been very much a work in progress. He's been gelded, and his recent jumpouts suggest he's on track. Has a low gate, and the betting will tell plenty with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Insain Harry appeals most.
3 02:30 John, Ruth & Leo Roberts Memorial Maiden Plate 1400m
Moderate tempo with Texture leading the way. TEXTURE (9) went close at Ballarat on debut and then won a Flemington jumpout before improving his numbers, beaten 3L at Sale. He's been freshened and kept up to the mark with another Flemington jumpout. Has the tongue tie on for the first time, and that may be the key. SO REGAL (12) is dead-set honest and just missed in the country last time. She may push forward from the awkward gate today and can feature if that's achieved economically. GRAN PARADISO (6) didn't do a lot at Seymour on debut, but his recent win in a Geelong jumpout suggests he's going to return much improved. Hurdle sticks from that and will give him every chance from an inside gate. ANALYTICAL (1) resumed over this distance and needed the outing. He maps well enough and has pieces of form that would see him right in the finish. Quick improvement is anticipated. PRINCE MAGNETITE (3) is an improver from the Hawkes yard who should be around the mark.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Texture.
4 03:00 The Cally Hotel Maiden Plate 1600m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Gottacookacurry. BIG SISTER AVA (11) missed 1L over this trip at Kilmore on debut and then raced favourite again at Ballarat, beaten 2.2L. Will have taken further fitness and learning, and John Allen goes aboard. In the premier stable, and is suited to this grade. KINGSFORD (3) didn't miss a beat, narrowly beaten at Warrnambool first-up. Has the inside barrier, and Yendall and the step up to the mile is ideal. Has been kept on the fresh side and is a serious player. VEGAS DANCER (14) resumed improved beaten a nose at Swan Hill over this distance. This is a bit tougher, but she has plenty of scope for improvement and should get every chance. THE TORONADO KID (7) resumed over a short sprint and needed the run. He's going to be much more competitive with that under his belt and with the step-up to the mile. Look for him to hit the line late.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Big Sister Ava.
5 03:30 Peter Armytage BM56 Handicap 1600m
Solid tempo with several going forward headed by Gift Of Oratory. Tough. PLATINUM DESTROYER (6) has been mixing trips and threatening a win. Has a wide gate, but the mile is his sweet spot, having won 2/3 at the trip. Has Yendall aboard today, and he knows his way around here. LUCKETT (4) resumes and is right up to this if presented forward. He's proven fresh and kicking off at the mile won't bother. His jumpouts have been sharp, and Egan rides from the inside barrier. THE DAILY PLANET (17) has been beaten 1L as favourite in his last two and should appreciate the step up in trip. Meech stays aboard, and he can feature with average luck in the run. MY UNCLE DID IT (11) won her Maiden here first up and was expected to deliver again at Ararat following, beaten 1.7L. May not have been suited to the tight circuit, and from a wide gate, she'll get plenty of space here to finish it right off.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Platinum Destroyer appeals most.
6 04:00 Duncan Equine BM56 Handicap 2200m
Nicoffhome and Cousins Day have good gate speed and can pave the way. Competitive. SQUANDER (15) missed a whisker here and then at Ararat, both at this journey. Finally draws a low barrier and will get every chance to go one better. REBADGE (1) would be in the finish at best and third up is sure to show more. Has a couple of gear changes and he won't know himself back to 56 level. DANZAGRUNT (4) was on pace winning this grade at Tatura over 1980m. Has a wide gate but a sharp course striker is aboard, and the gelding is still shy of his best. COUSINS DAY (9) can show more third up and was vet cleared after he folded badly from the speed over 2000m at Warrnambool last time. She has more to give, and Yendall sticking aboard is a positive. Not sure of the riding tactics today but she has claims. TORBELO (16) ran an improved race, placing at Ararat in the Squander race. Needs a good ride but is in the mix at a healthy price.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Squander appeals most.
7 04:30 Taylor Toyota BM56 Handicap 1400m
A strong gallop is likely with Jessup and Shooter Mcgavin taking up the running, closely attended by Royal Inference and Emmcee. MATROOSHI (9) was backed off the map at Warrnambool in longer and then came back to this distance, placing at Ballarat. That stacks up, and Meech rides today and will push forward. With average luck, she can go one better. SHOOTER MCGAVIN (2) resumed off placings on the synthetic and charged home from the back to just miss an unlikely win at Ararat. He's much improved and draws low today. Presents fitter and the longer sprint should be right up his alley. JESSUP (3) has raced favourite twice since his easy win at Traralgon at this level. Comes back in grade with a handy 3kg claim and the speedy gelding is sure to give a big sight. HE'S GODSPEED (1) draws awkwardly but won't know himself in a 56. Has Egan aboard today and must be considered.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Matrooshi.
8 05:00 Fox & Lillie BM56 Handicap 1200m
Hughie, Doubt In The Sky and The Wizard King to take up the running at a decent tempo. DOUBT IN THE SKY (12) just missed first-up and then was on speed when winning a Maiden at Dunkeld. She did it well, and doubt this is much harder. Strips fitter and can take the next step. HUGHIE (5) is free running and has been unlucky not to have broken through. He gets in well with the 3kg claim and will go close with average luck skipping across from the awkward gate. THE WIZARD KING (1) rates up to this but has an outside barrier to cope with. Has a handy 3kg claim in easier company and will go close if things work out. BOURBON ROAD (4) peaks and has been knocking on the door. Coffey is reunited, and he's fit enough to manage the longer sprint. He's in the mix as well.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Doubt In The Sky.
