NUM TIME COMMENT
1 05:29 Myles Baker Electrical 2YO Maiden 1100m
Entire field on debut. Expecting the juveniles to go keenly. 2-year-old debutantes and the late betting moves will be instructive. ARISTOPOLOS (1) brings a 6L trial win from Hobart and has the rail to guide him around. Has a high striking hoop aboard, and on what we've seen is the one to beat. MOMENTSLIKETHESE (7) showed enough in her Hobart trial to suggest she can feature. The premier jockey takes the mount, and she'll get every chance. BRUTAL EMPIRE (2) has had three trials and won the latest easily at Longford. Loses the rider to Aristopolos, and Pires is engaged. TOO POETIC (9) has also trialled well. She has to manage the outside barrier, but may be good enough regardless.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Aristopolos on what we've seen.
2 06:04 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Packages on Sale NOW! Maiden 1200m
There should be a bit of pressure with Mister Manihi and Up To Tori pressing forward in advance of Bad Alibi and Vabuiagi. Tricky. On what we've seen, VABUIAGI (14) will be hard to beat. Followed a Hobart trial win with a half-length defeat here on debut over 1000m. She will carry just 52kg with the in-form apprentice aboard, and maps for the race. MEGALITA (6) finished it off well enough here on debut, and the extra metres are sure to suit. Has a wide gate to contend with, but expect him to hit the line hard. The speedy SH'BOURNE RISING (11) debuts and creates plenty of interest with Newitt booked. Missed a nose in her latest trial, and she can enjoy a soft run in transit. VORTISTAR (8) resumes and has switched from a Victorian yard. Went well in the recent trial on the synthetic, and he has a plum gate. The Byrne Burke-Trinder linkage is potent. Has enough ability and looks ready to go.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Vabuiagi each way.
3 06:40 Cressy Chaff Cutters Longford Cup 1st January Maiden 1600m
Genuine tempo with Beau Warrior leading the way. ROUSING LEVI (6) stepped up to this distance at Hobart, beaten 1.6L. It was a good effort, and he should be presenting at his peak. Has a handy 2kg claim today and is ready to win. NORTHERN CHILD (5) strips fitter for two close-up efforts at Hobart over 1200m. Has the outside gate, but the step-up to the mile is sure to suit. He will be finishing hard. STRIDING BAY (4) has been plainer at Hobart his last two but just missed here prior over this distance. Gets a gear chance and Newitt rides from an inside gate. On song, he'd be hard to beat. LADY BE COOL (11) is in good hands and up to a mile, quick improvement won't surprise. TIMMIE LAD (8) did nothing last time after a promising debut over 1400m at the track. Has the inside gate and may be worth another chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Rousing Levi.
4 07:10 Play Summer Swheeps 10th Dec to win heaps C1 Hcp 1600m
Eaglefurther to take charge ahead of Thin Red Line at a strong tempo. An open contest. CORSA VELOCE (5) is third-up and stepping up to a mile is ready to fire. Missed a lip here last time over 1400m, and has plenty up her sleeve. It's hard to risk the potent Byrne Burke-Trinder linkage. ZANZI (4) was on speed and improved sharply when winning her Maiden by 2.3L here over 1400m. A talented 3kg claimer stays aboard, and the extra 200m looks well within her scope. THIN RED LINE (11) dropped out at Hobart last time, but his two prior efforts at this track would have him right in the finish. Uses the rail, and the premier jockey rides for the first time. COOL CONQUEST (9) has been narrowly defeated in his last five starts. Carries just 51kg with the claim, but he draws the outside. Goes in but will need everything to go her way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Corsa Veloce.
5 07:40 BWS 3YO Trophy 1400m
Genuine tempo from Mazzini leading Daytona Diva. A good little race. CRACK THE SHUTTERS (2) delivered the hat-trick here in dominant fashion and is on an upward spiral. The step up to 1400m should suit admirably, and she's well placed to deliver again. DAYTONA DIVA (6) resumed further improved beaten 1L here, and then was heavily bet when belting the CL1 graders at Hobart by 3L. She's heading in the right direction and stripping fitter again is sure to make the finish. MAZZINI (1) is also displaying plenty of promise. Was plainer behind the top selection last time when fractious at the start, and has won a trial since. Impressed backed off the map first-up and is likely to control the race from the inside barrier. A gap then to WOLF JUNIOR (3), who can build on his first-up Maiden win.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Crack The Shutters rates to win again.
6 08:20 Book for the House of Arras Corporate Marquee Cup Day C2 Hcp 1100m
Expecting a strong pace from the outset with plenty of speed engaged. LADY GALADRIEL (2) is third-up and ready to win. Showed a stack of promise her initial campaign and can find those peaks today. Maps for a soft run, and she's well placed with the 3kg claim. FLUFFY'S GIRL (7) led first up just beating Lady Galadriel home. Presents fitter again and carries just 51.5 kg with the claim. May control the race and take pegging back. SIMPLY DEEP (3) resumes and his five starts have all been on the Devonport synthetic. He's displayed plenty of ability and won a recent trial on turf. Proven fresh and has Bingley's 2kg claim. Wary. OHSHE'STROUBLE (5) won the Lady Galadriel race, spiking her figures. Has been giving away starts but the 2kg claim is handy, and she can't be ruled out.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Lady Galadriel, who has plenty to give.
7 09:00 PFD Food Services Conquering Stakes 1400m
Expecting Sushi Express to set a genuine tempo after crossing from wide out. DURAZZO (5) is the clear top pick in the Conquering Stakes. Has placed 2/3 in Stakes grade and missed a whisker the other. Has been heavily bet and sharp both starts this preparation and the mile suits. Maps to get every chance. ALVARINHO (12) won a decent race first-up and then was beaten 2L behind the above in the stronger Newmarket. She's a quinella hope with the extra fitness. BANK MAUR (1) is a Group 2 winning Queenslander in the Laming yard. Has prepared for this with a first-up hit-out in the Cranbourne Cup over a mile. Wasn't too far away in the Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich three back. Has an awkward gate, but Newitt's booking suggests he's pleasing. Sure to have admirers. FIRST ACCUSED (2) resumed in the Durazzo race and looked a run short. Proved second-up and the veteran is a 3x Stakes winner. In the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Durazzo.
8 09:40 Craig Hanson Memorial BM68 Hcp 1600m
Solid tempo with Lovin' Bev, Lily Luella and Original Glaze going hard, closely attended by Fast Thinker. ELEGANTLY WRITTEN (7) had been threatening before delivering the win here at 60 level over this distance. The low gate plays to her advantage in this contest, and Newitt is a key jockey booking, replacing the 2kg apprentice. Solid each way claims. THE LONGEST YARD (5) rates strongly on the back of his deserved CL4 win here over 1400m. He's won at the mile, but the negative for him is the outside barrier. He's capable of winning, all the same. LOVIN' BEV (2) is free running and brings a heavily bet win in this grade at the track/trip. Gets in well again with the 3kg claim, and going back-to-back isn't out of the question. TUSKEGEE (6) wasn't beaten far in the same race and always puts in.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Elegantly Written each way.
9 10:10 Book into the Country Cup Marquee Longford Cup day BM64 Hcp 1200m
Stars In The Night is expected to lead at a slick tempo. Tricky. BAYSIDE (2) is lightly raced, and this is winnable if he's presented on song. His recent trial placing suggests he will be, and he won his only fresh outing. Impressed at Hobart when last seen, and the 2kg claimer can use the inside barrier to advantage. STARS IN THE NIGHT (3) was straight back into the winner's stall, leading and winning a 60 this track/trip. With the 3kg claim, she's well-placed to repeat. WITHIN SIGHT (5) was plain at Hobart, but his CL2 win here prior was good. Draws low today and will get every chance to bounce. WARICA (4) mixes the form, but has the ability. Carries 3kg less today, and the 1200m may suit better.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Bayside appeals most.
