THANK YOU KARLA MCDIARMID COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
Thread Fighter has the rail and may jump and lead. CROWN LEGEND (1) switched from a sharp Victorian barn and just missed at Orange first-up heavily bet. He's still well shy of his best efforts and the 1200m suits. Fitter and can get the job done. FEIMAZUO (2) settled back resuming in the same contest and made ground beaten 3.3L. She will also appreciate the longer sprint and the first-time blinkers are applied. She's been unlucky not to have broken through and Heywood in a key jockey engagement. NICCOLINA (6) led and missed 1L this track/trip and then didn't finish it off on a heavy track at Nowra. This suits better and she keeps the handy 3kg claim. POLENS (7) got too far back at Gilgandra but threatened here and at Dubbo prior and is in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Crown Legend. |

NEXT MEETING 10TH FEBRUARY MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
Although a few sit handy there won't be a great deal of early pressure. BENAMERA (3) went close at Goulburn and again at Orange following. He will position forward from the inside barrier and is well-placed to break through. KAFFIR LILY (11) resumes for a top Sydney stable and gauge her ability on the 1.3L defeat at Canberra on debut. She has two metro trials under her belt and will be naturally improved. Draws awkwardly but is hard to risk. Ditto stablemate HINUNE (10) who held on the place at Dubbo first-up. Her Kembla Grange effort on debut was promising and she can also come back better. The betting will be key with this pair. HERAION (9) peaks and comes back to country level. Maps well and has trialled at Hawkesbury since last seen. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Benamera. |

Time Ruler and Geostorm can set a genuine tempo. I'M SCARLETT (5) made ground beaten 1L at Cowra in a CL3. Maps well and just has to hold the form to take beating. TIME RULER (2) stepped up to this trip at Tamworth and spiked his figures leading all the way in this grade. Carries more weight but is good enough to repeat the dose. GEOSTORM (4) led and won here at this level and then found a 66 too rich at Orange. He has a handy 2kg claim today and is sure to give a sight. VAQUERO (9) has been busting to win. He will push forward and coming back 200m is likely to suit. MAGNACE (1) resumes with a 4kg claimer aboard. He has won fresh and keep onside. SUGGESTED PLAY: With I'm Scarlett. |

MOORHEAD CRANES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m
Release The Spirit is the likely leader at a slick tempo. ARTIFACTX (1) was quickly back on track winning a Maiden at Kembla Grange. He'd just missed at Wyong three back and the form is good from a country CL1. Maps well and has been briefly freshened. Day stays aboard and he can take the next step. LIGHT INFANTRY (2) has been beaten a whisker here x2 and keeps improving. Draws a little awkwardly but Gallagher stays aboard and the speed-bred gelding is a live chance. EILRAHC (6) is also third-up out of the same races. He showed plenty early doors and jumps from the inside gate today. He's ready to show more. PRORATA (4) resumes in easier grade and has been gelded. Maps well and JVO is a positive jockey engagement. No surprise to see him race well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Artifactx. |

NIGEL FRISBY PAINTING & DECORATING MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Always plenty of early pressure in sprint races such as this with a large representation of first starters. Tricky. BATTLE HYMN (4) debuts and the Baker yard is flying. It's had 355 runners here for a strike rate of 30%. Well bred and the recent Warwick Farm trial was sharp. Brodie Loy has been off the scene for almost a year and is an interesting jockey engagement. Stablemate VARAZZE (12) resumes and went close at Scone on debut. Placed in a recent Randwick trial but has the outside gate to overcome. INDIE MAE (9) wasn't beaten too far in town on debut and was immediately spelled. She's sure to have come on and the betting will be key. Ditto with the Pride-trained stablemate COTTON GIN (5) on debut. He owns a Warwick Farm trial win and will likely be quick enough to manage the awkward gate. SUGGESTED PLAY: Battle Hymn on what we've seen. |

DONNELLY CONSTRUCTION GROUP BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 1100m
Solid tempo likely from the outset with a number of speedy beginners engaged, most notably Stratified and Siovy Dane. STRATIFIED (15) deserved the easy CL2 win at Gilgandra improving again. He draws well and races handy. He can go on with the job. PLAZA (8) switched from a sharp city stable with immediate effect winning a CL1 at Moruya. She hasn't missed a beat and Heywood is a positive jockey engagement. DUKE OF CAMDEN (13) would be a winning chance at best and third up should be primed to show more. Has the first-time blinkers applied and JVO stays in the saddle. CAPITAL MAC (6) is certainly good enough but has been off the scene for 664 days. Won a recent Dubbo trial and the betting moves will be interesting. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Stratified over Plaza. |

BATHURST PLUMBING & GAS FITTING COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m
Hope And Glory, Chookster and Quick Onyx to battle for the early lead at a slick tempo. MAYBE MAUREEN (7) resumed off a Forbes Maiden win with a near miss at Moruya. She presents fitter and JVO goes aboard replacing Cahill. The longer sprint should suit and she can go back-to-back. RAILWAY AVENUE (8) spiked his figures winning at Cowra this grade. Cahill stays aboard keeping it a family affair. Just has to hold the form to be a chance. COMMANDO JACK (2) resumes well supported in a CL2 at Orange but looked a run short. He is proven second-up and jumps from the inside gate. Gallagher stays in the saddle and will give him every chance. CHICO CASINO (9) found a place at Orange on debut and can build on that. Draws wide but Heywood is booked offsetting the disadvantage to an extent. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Maybe Maureen. |
