NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:20 STACKS LAW FIRM BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 2000m
Only a small field so a moderate tempo is on the cards. FIGHTING MAGNUS (3) won here over this trip two runs back then went within a whisker of going back-to-back when he chimed in late but missed in a thriller at Port Macquarie last time. Up in grade but so are all of these. Looks the one to beat. KING CORNELIUS (1) is a risk at the trip but the likelihood of a modest tempo helps. Raced handy but didn't quite finish it off over the mile at Coffs Harbour last time. Might lead today and if left alone could be tough to catch. IDOL SHOT (6) is a consistent mare who had her first try at 2000m last start at Port Macquarie and was beaten under two lengths in a commendable effort. Should take a lot from that run fitness-wise and is right in contention. MY SONNY'S FAITH (7) was easily accounted for in the same race as Idol Shot last start at Port. One to pop in for fourth in the first fours. LAMPKIN LANE (8) has been going okay in shorter races but is a risk at this distance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Fighting Magnus.
2 01:55 TURF BISTRO @ MVRC COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m
Solid tempo headed by Zoona Than Later and Acireale Jayne. KING JERRY (2) raced wide in a small field but still found the line with purpose to get up for third last start over 1250m at this track. Beautifully placed out to this trip at his third run. Further improvement is in store and he looks ready to win. CRASHMYPLAYA (6) led in a new role for him but folded up badly last time out over 1200m at Port Macquarie. Should race handy again from the inside gate and with less pressure over today's trip he can offer a lot more. EINSTEIN'S THEORY (1) settled a long way back then worked home in good style to be beaten just 2.6 lengths recently over 1300m at Coffs Harbour. Has only raced twice so over the extra trip he is one to keep an eye on. ACIREALE JAYNE (3) has been about the money at all four runs this time in work. Finding the line well so the step up in trip looks a good move. NIKODY'S DIEGO (7) backs up four days after a modest effort over this distance at Grafton. Has had plenty of chances but can sneak into the frame without surprising.  SUGGESTED PLAY: This looks perfect for King Jerry.
3 02:35 LUNAR YEAR OF THE SNAKE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
Tosmian is the likely leader at a keen tempo. TAKE A BREAK (11) has been handy enough in running but failed to finish off in his two runs this prep, both over 1200m at Port Macquarie. Gets a few gear changes and drops a massive 7kgs after the claim. Can turn things around. TOSMIAN (3) was easy in betting but ran boldly to finish runner-up on debut over this distance at Port Macquarie four weeks ago. Tricky gate but with natural improvement she comes right into calculations. CLEVER ILLUSION (4) returns from a 110-day break and has transferred to the Peter Cheers barn. Best Victorian figures stack up so he is one to keep an eye on in the betting. FULL REGALIA (8) made a decent return from a long spell last start and can build on that performance with 4gs less under today's scale. KUSHOMA (10) has been about the mark this prep but finding it hard to break through. A better draw and blinkers back on may turn things around.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Interesting race - leaning to Take A Break.
4 03:10 RAY WHITE TAREE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m
Anticipate Just On Fire, Hell Of A Lad and Kayz Time to set a strong tempo. HIGHLY TEMPTED (1) has caught the eye in his two runs since returning from a short spell, the latest a barnstorming second over 1200m at Port Macquarie. Can race a bit closer over the extra 100m from a better gate. Ready to win again. HELL OF A LAD (3) raced on the speed and battled on well but found one better when resuming over this trip at Muswellbrook last time out. Lightly raced three-year-old who was runner-up in a $50k maiden second-up last prep. Sure to give a great sight. KAYZ TIME (4) was lining up for just the second time when she led all the way and blitzed eight rivals over 1000m at Port Macquarie recently. The extra 300m is the query but she deserves the benefit of the doubt. REBEL ONE (6) recorded a soft maiden win at his twenty-first attempt when resuming over 1200m at Port Macquarie twelve days ago. Won't get carried away by that - each-way hope. Market watch on the sparingly raced JUST ON FIRE (2) first-up from a 20-week break.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Highly Tempted.
5 03:45 MVRC WINNING POST FUNCTION CENTRE MAIDEN PLATE 1250m
Tomcat Flowers to go to the lead at a genuine tempo. The speedy TOMCAT FLOWERS (3) returned from a month off the scene with a game second last start over 1375m at Cowra, leading until the dying stages. Strips fitter and is nicely placed coming back in trip. Will give them something to catch. BOMBINATE (6) settled midfield then found the line well to get up for third last time out over 1000m at Port Macquarie. Has only been to the races twice and gives every indication he needs this sort of trip. SIR TOM (2) registered an astonishing seventeenth minor placing from twenty-six starts when beaten favourite over five-furlongs at Port Macquarie recently. Placed 4/5 here and 5/7 at the trip so each-way all day. BYE GONE DAZE (10) has been safely held in his two runs this prep. Strips fitter and draws a nice gate so worth one more chance. UNCLE MOONLIGHT (5) was strong through the line over a shorter journey last start. One to watch for late in the piece.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Tomcat Flowers to lead all the way.
6 04:25 HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1600m
Pressure on from word go with Artelimar and Wolf Dancer going hard ahead of Wing Nut and Cats Quarters. The consistent WING NUT (3) backs up seven days after a gutsy third over 1509m at Port Macquarie where he raced on the speed and wouldn't lie down. Beautifully in with the claim and he won't mind this slightly longer trip. Sure to give backers a great sight. TOOTSIE (1) picked up impressively from midfield on the bend to collect a similar race to this when second-up at Coffs Harbour 19 days ago. Placed 2/2 third-up and is yet to miss the frame at the mile. Key contender again with the help of the inside alley. CATS QUARTERS (10) defeated Wing Nut to collect her maiden win two back then didn't run a strong 2000m at Port Macquarie last time. Back in her right race today so despite a horror draw she is a definite contender. WOLF DANCER (4) staged a form reversal to score last start at Port Macquarie. Will runs this trip right out so must be respected. TALMA I LOVE HER (2) returned in fine fettle last time and he does have a better second-up record. Wide gate the negative.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Wing Nut gets the nod in an even race.
7 05:05 SKY INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW- CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1250m
Plenty of early pace from Onepointsevengone, Oakfield Pinto and Bantarki primarily. ENSIGN PARKER (6) was easy in betting but led all the way and proved far too good first-up over a similar trip at Muswellbrook. Meets a deeper field today but drops 6kgs and strips fitter so he can run boldly again. The lightly raced SHOW 'EM HOWL (9) made it two-for-two this campaign when he thundered home to score over 1200m at Port Macquarie last time out. Eligible for easier races but he is full of potential and draws a good gate for the first time this prep. ZARU (3) took charge a fair way out and went on to easily take out a BM66 over this course and distance recently. Has a remarkable fourteen top three finishes from fifteen runs here. Must go in the numbers. SIGSWORTH (10) has been very good at both runs this prep, the latest offering seven days ago when a game third at Port Macquarie. Gets out to this trip for the first time which is the only query. BANTARKI (2) is a good fresh performer back at the races for the first time since March 2024. Keep an eye on the market.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ensign Parker each-way in a very open affair.
8 05:40 LUCKY NUMBER 8 BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000m
From their good gates Without, Pee Dee and Golden Galaxy will likely vie for the lead in a keen early contest. DAYU (6) raced handy and had his chance but may have needed the hit-out when resuming over 1100m at Port Macquarie last start. Best form comes at this trip so despite a tough draw he looks well placed to take this out. NAZARE'S IMPACT (3) wasn't far away in the first two runs this prep then got the job done by the barest margin last time out in a comparable race to this at Port Macquarie. Very fit gelding who just needs luck from the wide alley to be right in the thick of things again. The speedy PEE DEE (7) led but wilted over the final stages in a 1200m BM58 most recently. Loves racing here and five furlongs is his thing so watch for a better run. EDGE OF MIDNIGHT (2) lacked a turn of foot under a big weight last start. Gets some relief with the claim this time so he is one to consider. EXOREALM (9) has been freshened up and drops back to his pet track and distance. Likely improver.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Dayu each-way or 1 x 2 in a challenging race to close the program.
