Optimal and God Has Drifted to battle for the lead ahead of the small field. PRIDE OF HALLOWELL (6) wasn't disgraced on debut before being scratched at the barriers on October 16. She was spelled following that and she resumes today without a trial. Suspect she's come on over the break and she can run a big race with no weight on her back. OPTIMAL (1) has been knocking on the door for a little while now and went under when favourite at the mile here most recently. He has been placed over this course and distance previously and Faithfull remains with the gelding. Can continue his good run of form. SCENERY (2) pulled up lame in his only run last campaign and has been given a quiet trial since then. He draws nicely today and he can run a good race on resumption. LATER ALLIGATOR (5) is the new kid on the block with all the upside. Nice trial coming in and he has winning claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Pride Of Hallowell can return a winner. |

PLANTAGENET MAIDEN 1500m
Moderate tempo expected with Quick Cookie likely to find the front over Mai Fire and Great Deal. COCOON GIRL (6) rattled home on debut at Mt Barker to miss out on victory in a photo finish. She gets onto her home track now with a rise in trip looking to suit. She looks to have plenty of class and with improvement likely, she shouldn't be a maiden for much longer. QUICK COOKIE (7) disappointed last time out at Bunbury after a strong second-up effort. She'll find this a little easier than her recent efforts and she should be close to the speed from a nice barrier. Can bounce back to form and make her presence felt. BLING BEACH (3) resumed in good order at Mt Barker when behind Cocoon Girl and she should be better for that effort. Draws well again today and with added fitness on her side, she should be in the finish. GREAT DEAL (2) is lightly raced and looks on the way up. Good run over the mile here last start and he won't be far away. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cocoon Girl can shed the maiden tag. |

JERRAMUNGUP HANDICAP 1500m
Moderate tempo headed by Missijay. MISSIJAY (4) led the field last start and ran away to win impressively over the mile at this track 20 days ago. She should be able to roll to the front from the barrier and the form out of her last start has been franked. She will prove hard to run down from the front. BEST OF THE GODS (2) steps right out in trip today after closing off well over 1100m at Mt Barker last time out. He has only been over this trip once before, but he's a fit galloper and he's back on his home track. Should land in a good position and will get his chance. WILEY GIRL (6) wasn't far away at Mt Barker last start after some good efforts at this track previously. It's been a while between drinks for her, though she hasn't been far away of late. Worth including. MISTRESS OF EXCESS (5) was too good when running over the top to win impressively last start and she now steps up in trip. That looks to suit and she won't be far away. SUGGESTED PLAY: Missijay can bring up back-to-back wins. |

TAMBELLUP HANDICAP 1920m
Moderate pace with Jack In The Black taking up the running ahead of I Dreamed A Dream and Brave Contender. I DREAMED A DREAM (2) comes back from Ascot where he's been very good, winning two back before a narrow defeat over 1800m last time out. This may be a little easier for him and the form out of his last start has been franked. Racing well and looks the one to beat. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE (3) just missed over the mile at this track last time out after a good effort at Ascot over 1800m prior to that. Drawn well again today and stepping up in trip looks ideal for her. Not far away last time out and she looks well placed in this event. BRAVE CONTENDER (1) has been racing at a higher level this campaign, going around in Saturday company most recently. He's a course and distance winner previously and if he runs up to his recent figures, he won't be far away. MAGIC MIKEY (7) is better than he showed last time out and can improve. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on I Dreamed A Dream. |

CRANBROOK HANDICAP 1100m
Expecting a strong pace from the outset with plenty of speed engaged. AVOIDANCE (2) comes back in grade after contesting the Fitzpatrick Plate two back and a Saturday race at Ascot most recently. He jumped favourite in the Fitzpatrick and coming back to 1100m is no issue. Can be on the speed from the barrier and looks the one to beat. FRANTIC WAR (5) capitalised on his good run of form with a 0.4L win at Mt Barker last time out. This is a tougher race today, but he drops plenty of weight and Derrick is 2/2 when partnering. Sure to be up front in the run and will make his presence felt. AGENT JAY (3) is looking for the hat-trick after back-to-back wins in this grade, with his most recent coming over 1500m here. He's right back in trip today, though he sprinted well two back and he has to be included. MORGS FREEMAN (4) is better than he's shown his past couple and getting back to 1100m is a big tick for him. Can run an improved race. SUGGESTED PLAY: Avoidance looks hard to beat. |

GNOWANGERUP HANDICAP 1230m
A solid tempo on the cards with Sailoralong taking charge. HOT CHATTER (4) is better than she showed last time out when tiring from the front, beaten 5.5L. She was in good form prior to that and she now steps out to 1230m. Derrick knows her well and a return to her best form would see her hard to hold out. SONG STORY (5) showed good improvement last start when sitting on the speed and finishing just 1.3L off the winner. The form out of the race has been great and getting out in trip looks to suit. Expecting a bold effort. WARRALEA LASS (3) is an interesting runner dropping back in trip after a solid return at Mt Barker. She does perform better over further, though she may still be sharp enough second-up. Has class and can run over the top of them late in the race. SAILORALONG (2) was only fair last start at Mt Barker but he was a strong winner here fresh. Worth keeping onside. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hot Chatter makes the most appeal. |

ALBANY HANDICAP 1500m
Moderate tempo headed by Vonsnip, Madam Kisses and Mr Mt Walker. VONSNIP (2) was slowly away at Mt Barker and never really got into the race when 4.3L away at the finish. She was in better form prior to that and she loves this course and distance. Faithfull has a great record when riding her and she can get back to winning ways. MAGNABURMA (7) will appreciate getting out to this trip again after getting a long way back at Mt Barker most recently. He was in solid touch at this course and distance prior and he can make his presence felt from a good draw. MADAM KISSES (1) steps out to this distance for the first time and drops right back in grade after contesting a couple of strong races recently. The 2kg claim of ZJP comes in handy and it wouldn't surprise to see her return to form. MAKIN PROPHETS (8) is racing well and looks beautifully placed at this track and trip. MORE LIKELY (4) can go on with the job following a good win here last time out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Vonsnip in the last. |
