TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1100m
Tactical. Clinton Taylor-trained HONOURBEFORE GLORY (1) trialled sharply before leading and winning a Maiden easily on debut. He was backed off the map and fitter can take the next step. SARAQAEL (3) debuts and owns a 4.2L trial win. Jumps from an inside barrier and a bold effort is likely. LUNA READY (7) trialled well enough to go onto the trifecta. OUR EAGLE ROCK (5) needs to show more but keeps the 3kg claim and has the first-time blinkers applied. SUGGESTED PLAY: Honourbefore Glory with the race fitness and experience. |

GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1100m
Fast pace assured with Greylist, Catmiss and Power Of Katie leading the charge. RUN AWAY RENEE (6) spaced the Maidens on debut here as expected and was immediately spelled. Resumed off a trial win at Mackay and was nudged out as a $2.20 favourite and could have had better luck. She has been kept on the fresh side and Stanley sticks aboard. Fitter and tough to beat. ASK ME MATE (1) brings strong form to resumption and should be further improved. Jumps from the rail and Butler replaces Stanley in the saddle. He should be right in the finish. POWER OF KATIE (2) spiked her figures winning this grade at Mackay. She carries more weight but runs along and has scope for further improvement. CATMISS (5) is also third-up and brings a heavily bet Maiden win. Loses Stanley but should be around the mark. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Run Away Renee. |

ST PATRICKS DAY TICKETS ON SALE Maiden Plate 1100m
No noted leader on paper so the pace looks moderate. DREAM STEP (1) resumed here much improved beaten 1L. He's been freshened and has trialled well at the Sunshine Coast since. He won't have to improve to go close. SUPER TALON (5) resumes and is sure to have come on. Maps well and Stanley is a key jockey switch. Has genuine claims. LONG PLAY (7) debuts owning a 3L trial win here over 900m. That effort demands attention. SIDESHOW FRANKIE (4) surprised the market just missing at Emerald first-up and won't be far away. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Dream Step. |

NUTURF OPEN Handicap 1100m
Hellish to take charge ahead of Just Super at a strong tempo. HELLISH (3) resumes and has won five on the trot. Won a recent trial here comfortably over 900m and jumps from the inside barrier. Tumbles in weight in this grade and it's hard to risk the potent Stanley-Taylor linkage. JUST SUPER (5) was solid first-up for the Walsh yard and has switched to the Sigvart establishment on a 42-day return. Maps well and gets in light with the 3kg claim. Flies first-up and at this course/distance. LEADERSHIP SPILL (4) has been racing well without winning. Carries 4.5kg less and can't be ruled out. Ditto KING JESTER (2) who is racing well and should get favours in the run. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Hellish |

BECOME A RJC GOLD CLUB MEMBER QTIS Class 3 Handicap 1100m
Cracking tempo looks assured with many of these capable of pushing on early. ALLOUTATIME (4) led and prevailed easily here second-up building on the first-up win. Started a $2 favourite and keeps the handy 3kg claim. The promising galloper can go on with the job. DIDDLEY SQUAT (1) resumed in the same race following a switch to the sharp Clinton Taylor yard. Found the above 1.8L too good but he'd been off the scene for 341 days and is sure to have come on. Keeps Stanley and he's still well shy of his best. The likely threat. Stablemate TRICKETEER (2) won the CL2 at Mackay as expected and Butler replaces Stanley. He's in the mix along with MORE STYLISH (8) down in the weights. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Alloutatime. |

HARDCORE AND PINK LILY SANDS Class 6 Plate 1500m
Smashed by scratchings and it will be tactical. ACROPHOBIC (1) bounced straight back winning an Open here over 1400m. He's on a 7-day return and races forward. Tough to beat. BRASCO (6) was back in the winner's circle delivering a 70 at Townsville. The extra metres should help and he can form the quinella. GENERAL WOLFFE (8) may have had excuses here last time but missed a whisker prior in a 68 over this trip Has the inside barrier and isn't out of it. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Acrophobic. |

BOOK VALENTINE'S DAY TRACKSIDE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1300m
The pace looks even at best without a noted on-pacer engaged. DIVINE PURPOSE (2) is a well-performed former Victorian having her first full preparation for the Clinton Taylor yard. She's won 2/5 first-up and has been unplaced once. She's trialled sharply here and Stanley's booking suggests she's pleasing and ready to go. Stablemate VIENNAWAITSFORYOU (1) resumes and brings strong form from $75,000 Qualities. Kicking off at 1300m suits and she placed in a recent trial behind Hellish. Has the inside gate and the 2kg claim brings her into it. SUNDARA (6) belted the 55 graders by 4L spiking her figures. Butler is reunited and she has some weight relief in stronger. MONEY MAN (7) improved beaten 1.4L here in a 60. He will carry just 53kg with the claim and is also in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Divine Purpose. |

MP SECURITY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400m
Although a few sit handy there won't be a great deal of early pressure. BOYFRIEND MATERIAL (2) has to manage a wide gate but there was a lot to like about the easy Maiden win heavily bet. He is still shy of his Victorian best and the in-form Butler rides for the first time. Peaks and looks capable of taking the next step. ACEDROD (6) returned to form beaten 2L in an Open 3. He's capable of using the inside barrier and making the finish. THE HAIRDRESSER (5) has been heavily bet her last four and has been within range without winning. Needs a good ride but Stanley sticks aboard and she gets another chance. MR GREY (8) hit the line hard placing at Mackay. He's been briefly freshened and is well in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Boyfriend Material. |
