NZB Karaka 2025 Handicap 1100m
Expecting Crusader Kings to take up the running with Captain Link and Pocket Size close at hand. CAPTAIN LINK (4) resumes. He was a narrow winner on debut at Cranbourne before tackling a strong BM64 at Sandown Lakeside, in the market but struggling. He looks to have found a nice race here and can be an improver this time in. CRUSADER KINGS (1) was a solid winner on debut at Mornington over 1200m, settling on speed and proving too strong. Back in trip here but he should improve off that. LET'S TROT (5) wasn't far away behind a smart one fresh at Flemington in New York Lustre. This is far more suitable, look for improvement. MR MAGNUS (3) has been around the mark of late and can sneak into the finish. MELIDESH (2) ran well fresh over this route and has claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Captain Link to win. |

Bunyip Equipment Maiden Plate 1100m
Always plenty of early pressure in sprint races such as this with a large contingent of first starters. Tricky with all bar one on debut. STEADY ON (7) is a Written Tycoon colt who looked good winning a recent Bendigo jump out. He's well-bred and just needs to overcome the wide draw to give this a shake. ORGANICS (9) is a well-bred filly by Street Cry out of Resin on debut for the Cummings yard. She's won a Flemington jump out and drawn nicely. CLOISTERS (13) is the one with a run under the belt, sticking on soundly for second on debut at Cranbourne. May bump into some smart ones here but that experience counts for plenty. MCGAW (5) is a gelding by I Am Immortal on debut for the Browne camp who has won a jump out and gets Damian Lane on board. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Steady On. |

Community Bank Drouin & District Maiden Plate 1000m
Solid tempo anticipated with Under My Thumb heading them off. UNDER MY THUMB (6) resumes. She showed good promise in her debut campaign, placing in all three runs, only narrowly beaten on debut at Geelong in a handy maiden. She's been jumping out well in preparation and is sure to take plenty of catching. Wary. HOFF IS ENUFF (2) has placed in both runs back from a spell and should be at peak fitness now. WATCHING OVER US (9) is a filly by Cable Bay on debut who won her latest jump out. Watch the market. MOTCOMBS (8) has been around the mark in two runs back from a spell and has claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Under My Thumb to win. |

Sportsbet More Places Maiden Plate 2000m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Geemes. COURTING EMILY (1) has raced twice to date, beaten the barest of margins on debut at Bendigo over 1500m before perhaps being unsuited at Stawell when seemingly disappointing as a $1.55 favourite. Getting to 2000m on the big track here should assist greatly. GEEMES (11) has been good in two runs to date, sticking on for second albeit no match for an easy winner last time at Sale. Up in trip again here should suit, she'll take plenty of catching. WONDERING SPIRIT (9) ran a much better race at his second start, finding the line well here over 1600m and giving every indication 2000m would be ideal. Gets that now, will be hard to hold out. HE'S A TIGER (3) could be an improver. SUGGESTED PLAY: Courting Emily to win. |

Pro Lift Garage Doors Handicap 2000m
The ideally-drawn Kentucky Nick to set a strong tempo with Myers Reward and Maxxi Bon applying plenty of pressure. COTTON TREE (5) can bounce back. He was no match for The Western Front fresh at Geelong but still held down second before fading at Flemington when up in class to a BM70. Comes back to a BM64 here and up to 2000m having shown ability over the trip last time in. HIAWATHA (3) has only won one from fourteen but is racing quite well in NSW, not far away at Newcastle last time out and having also run well against some decent staying opposition in town prior. Rates a key chance. MYERS REWARD (2) ran well fresh at Warrnambool for second and measured up nicely at Flemington second up. Gets to 2000m third up and should be ready to peak. SOCIALLY SASSY (11) has run third in all three starts this time in and should be hitting the line again. GINGER SWEET (10) is knocking on the door and has claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cotton Tree on top. |

GG Engineering Handicap (Chute) 1200m
Plenty of early pace with Primal Spirit and Unique Bambino battling for the lead but there will be pressure from a few other on-pacers. NAUGHTY BENNIE (8) on top. He won well on debut at Moe, overcoming traffic issues to win with a sharp turn of foot, before another excellent effort at Cranbourne when held up and flashing late behind Judicial. Should get clear running here on the big track and looks nicely placed. STREET ELITE (3) is racing well without winning, placing in his past four. Tried hard at Flemington last start which reads well and a repeat of that has him right in the finish. ARIZONA ACTIVIST (2) won comfortably fresh in easier company, measuring up well over this route last time in a BM70. Back a notch here and looks well-placed. PRIMAL SPIRIT (9) resumes for a new stable. He's mixed his form but has ability on his day and could show up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Naughty Bennie to win. |

Sportsbet Future Stars Series Heat 7 1400m
Not a great deal of early pace evident so it may be left to one or more of the healthy contingent of first starters to set the tempo. HEY NOW HEY NOW (8) found the line nicely on debut at Cranbourne over this trip, in the market and hitting the frame out wide when beaten just two lengths. Better for that and looks to have found a relatively winnable heat of this series, drawn ideally in three. DASHER (3) has been solid in two runs back from a spell and rates an each-way hope with natural improvement. ACELUM (2) is a gelding by The Autumn Sun on debut. Damian Lake booked is a good lead. JENNI INTIBA (9) perhaps next best on debut. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hey Now Hey Now to win. |

Grant's Plumbing & Drainage Solutions Handicap 1400m
Although a few sit handy there won't be a great deal of early pressure. Tricky race. HURRICANE GEORGIE (8) resumes. She was solid on debut in a hot race won by Daggers, coming out and bolting in with her maiden (in a BM64) next time out which saw her start in the market at Listed level before a spell. She's won a jump out leading in and looks very well placed fresh. MAHSAY (10) ran a good race fresh at Seymour over 1422m, finishing fourth but only beaten a length. Fitter for that and should be hard to hold out. ELECTRIC BELLE (2) is a seven-year-old mare who has been sound in two runs back from a spell, with the rise to 1400m a positive. Each way. LOCHLORIAN (5) is racing well this time in and the horse that beat him at Sale, Porter, was a winner on Saturday. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hurricane Georgie to win. |
