SELECT EVENTS 2YO HANDICAP 900m
Many of these step out for the first time so a frantic pace is likely early on over this sharp trip. LIGHTHOUSE LASS (8) two-year-old filly by Capitalist from Shining Eagle on debut for the Cassandra Stummer stable. Has looked sharp in all three trials and will take catching over this trip. COMONGIN (3) Showtime gelding out of Burbie on debut for the Robb stable. Spaced his rivals when a slick trial winner 860m at Dubbo on January 14. Will come out fast from the low draw and play a leading role. IT STAYS IN VEGAS (4) is a gelding by Shalaa out of Lass Vegas on debut for the Singleton stable. Had the first of two trials last September and was not asked to do much when fourth in a recent 900m trial at Scone. In a leading country yard and worth plenty of thought. JASIRA (7) Cosmic Force filly from Pierro mare Cinderella Miss. Fitted with the two good trials and looks ready to go. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lighthouse Lass to take catching. |

LION BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 900m
Expecting Sunday Bell to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint trip. FULD'S DOUBT (3) returns from a lengthy break with an okay fresh record. Failed to stretch out in the heavy going when a dismal fourteenth over 1200m at Randwick in Highway grade last June. Looked forward in a recent trial and gets in light with the 3kg claim. VANDELIGHT (8) sat on the fast tempo in the heavy conditions when a narrow third over 900m first-up. That form looks good enough in this contest. PRIDE TO FOLLOW (5) drops in class today after resuming with a fading eighth over 1000m at the Gold Coast. Go on her earlier wins when assessing her chances. Best form is good enough to take this out. EXECUTIVE DECISION (7) knocked up late on resumption after sitting on the solid tempo when seventh over 1250m at Taree. Lone win came over this trip and gets his chance from the gate. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 3,8,5,7. |

EMIRATES PARK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1600m
A solid tempo on the cards with Taipan Legend heading them off. GREAT POINT (3) underrated mare who comes out of a strong Highway after drifting back early and failing to get into the contest when twelfth over 1600m at Randwick on January 4. Has a solid record on her home track and expected to bounce back with Small's 3kg claim. HAMMOON THUNDER (2) relished the extra trip second-up with the 61kg when stalking the speed for a gritty third over 1500m at Muswellbrook. Reece Jones rides again and worth noting he's undefeated over the mile. TAIPAN LEGEND (5) rewarded for his consistency at start fifteen when shedding his maiden status in C1 grade this trip at Dubbo. Up in weight and doesn't have to improve much to play a leading role again. CORPSMAN (6) stretches out to the 1600m for the first time after charging late in the heavy conditions when an eye-catching second over 1450m at Muswellbrook. Can race closer today and has genuine each-way claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Great Point to win. |

COOLMORE BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 2200m
Expecting Lady Tino and Don Quixote to contest the early tempo. JACK OF ACES (5) win record hardly excites but looks placed to advantage in this easier contest. Had mixed luck on the provincial circuit this prep and backs up quickly after finishing out of the money at Wyong on January 26. LADY TINO (2) has solid credentials this track and trip failed to live up to expectations when a disappointing seventh over 2150m at Gunnedah on January 20. Finished in the minor money at his four prior runs and drops sharply in weight with the claim. Can bounce back. YORIKIRI (9) was trapped off the track and liked the way he attacked the line late when a close-up fourth over 2000m at Port Macquarie. Down in the weights and his best figures measure up nicely. DON QUIXOTE (1) country form had been exceptional prior to rising in grade with a fading eleventh over 2300m at Newcastle. Blinkers stay off and will appreciate the 3kg claim. Good enough to take a hand in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 5,2,9,1. |

ARROWFIELD COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Three of these step out for the first time so a frantic pace is likely early on over this sharp journey. CROWN LEGEND (4) first run for the new yard stalked the good tempo as favourite when a fighting second over 1000m at Orange. Strips much fitter for this and brings the right figures to take this out. NOR NOR WEST (2) lightly raced gelding who shouldn't be a maiden for long. Improved again at the second run back when came out fast before knocking up late to run fifth over 1200m at Dubbo. Finally draws a low gate and he looks one of the major players. SCATHINGLY (9) only the two career runs and expected to have matured from the five-month break. Ran on late at this course and trip on debut and not asked to do much in a recent trial. Winkers go on and should race closer from the better gate. BONNIE DUBAI (10) returned from a lengthy spell with an even on-pace fourth over 1000m at Tamworth. In a strong country stable and can add value to the exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Crown Legend to win. |

DARLEY 3YO & UP MAIDEN HANDICAP 900m
Atoka to make good use of the inside gate at a moderate tempo. SHAROHA (6) Shalaa filly resuming from a lengthy break and now in the Nathan Doyle stable. Offered little on debut when seventh over 1100m at Pakenham last February. Given time to develop further and her two recent trial placings have been full of merit. Finds a weak maiden to kick off. STRAAND CARE (1) was well supported late in betting to start fav on his debut when no match for Puerto Banus over 900m at Newcastle. Returns from a let-up with the winkers going on. Clearly has upside and this looks much easier. SEE YOU THEN (5) Magna Grecia out of Heavens Touch filly on debut for the Northam stable. Impressed in her lone trial here and stays in the calculations. CUP OF AMBITION (9) freshened up and drops back in trip after mixing it up at her last couple of runs. Will add value to the exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sharoha to sprint well fresh. |

MITTYS SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m
Xerxes is expected to cross from a wide draw and lead. MAJOR LOOK (1) Lonhro gelding who gets his chance to salute at start nine after resuming with an eye-catching sixth over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast on January 4. Ran some solid races at the provincials last prep and he finds a winnable race. BULLFIGHTER (3) Capitalist gelding who was snagged back in the heavy (9) conditions at second run back and failed to get into the contest when a dismal thirteenth over 1100m at the Gold Coast on January 11. Extra trip and firmer deck can see him improve sharply today. THE MANAGER (5) frustrating gelding who resumed with a handy third after covering ground from the sticky gate when third over 1200m at Dubbo. Further improved from the low gate and not without each-way claims. APACHE JACK (8) consistent gelding due for a change of luck. Has finished in the minor money at his last three outings and drops 4kg in weight after finishing third at Tamworth last start. Keep safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Major Look to win. |

TAB COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m
Expecting Tea Or Coffee to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint trip. ARAMBYS (12) trained locally and has had genuine excuses at his last three outings. Snagged back and was never comfortable on the firm going when a disappointing ninth over 1300m at Gunnedah in harder company last start. Well drawn for this and his best form is good enough to take this out. UPWARDLY MOBILE (14) progressive filly resuming after shedding her maiden status by a big space over the 1300m here two back. Fitted with a smart 900m trial win and the winkers go on. Wide draw the slight niggle. GIRRAWHEEN (11) returned well, and a win looks imminent. Charged late from well back when a gritty third over 1200m at Dubbo. Hard fit and expected to play a leading role. TEA OR COFFEE (5) strengthened up over the break and kept fresh for this after having no luck from the wide gate when a tenacious fourth over 1280m at Orange. Fitted with a tick-over trial and will give a ton of cheek from the inside barrier. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 12,14,11,5. |
