Invention should be able to comfortably find the front. EXCEL GRAND (10) met with solid support last start over 2000m at this track when fourth, beaten 12 lengths. Change of rider to Naoki Machida who has an excellent strike rate when in the saddle, including three wins. Among the leading chances. JUST THE VALSE (4) did a great job to score by 4 lengths over today's course and distance last start in a far better run. Facing a tougher assignment but she is up to the task. MEISHO TOWANI (1) doesn't win out of turn, scoring just six times from 68 starts. Again tasted defeat last start when fourth over 1600m at Funabashi, beaten 2.5 lengths. Each way hope. FANTA FESTA (9) went forward over 1500m at Funabashi last time but found a couple better. Will be handy despite the tricky draw. Not to be discounted.
