Pace a scorcher, headed by Sun Calypso, Mana Hoku Lani and Gerel, closely followed by Ryuno Dragon and Aiyo Towani. GEREL (7) got home by 5 lengths on dirt at Morioka Dirt two starts ago. Disappointed in another run on dirt last time at Mizusawa over 1600m when 5 lengths from the winner in sixth. Toshiya Yamamoto who has scored on her four times retains the mount. Sure to play a big role. RYUNO DRAGON (12) turned in a disappointing run last time out over 1400m at Mizusawa after a nice win the start prior. Nicely placed to turn things around. AIYO TOWANI (5) is poised to win after placing at her last three outings, most recently when second over 1400m at Mizusawa. Finds a tougher race but another big run will not surprise. YUYU SOUPLEMENT (10) finished 27 lengths adrift in seventh last time over 2000m at Mizusawa in a disappointing performance. Looks well placed so expect a better run this time.
