Bendigo Mazda Maiden Plate 1000m
Good early pressure anticipated with a large contingent of unraced runners. Only three left in this post-scratchings which is a shame. Leaning to the newcomer in the form of SALAMANCA SIX (4), a gelding by So You Think on debut for the Dom Sutton yard. He looked good winning a recent Flemington jumpout and looks ready to run a big race. JUST RELEASED (3) is a gelding by Wandijna for the Johnstone yard who looked handy winning a recent trial here. Tactics in the small field will be interesting but he looked to handle the heavy ground at least. BRENIN (2) struggled on debut here in a decent maiden, doing a bit wrong. Comes back in trip and gets blinkers (and Damian Lane) on and could improve. SUGGESTED PLAY: Salamanca Six to win. |

Wild Plumbing Maiden Plate 1000m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a keen tempo. An upgrade on the opening race - we've got four to go around here. SECRET CROSSING (8) is a filly by Gold Standard on debut for the Shane Jackson yard who has looked handy at the Flemington jumpouts. She's from a good family and Damian Lane rides, she should go close. LONDON FIELDS (5) is a filly by Stay Inside who was an expensive purchase for the Maher yard out of a handy Irish mare. She's jumped out well and trialled nicely too, expecting a strong run. LADY MOLLY (4) was in the market in a handy maiden on debut here but dropped right out. Can do better but not sure another heavy track run helps. MADAME ADELAIDE (6) rounds out the quartet off a jumpout win for the Dale yard. SUGGESTED PLAY: Secret Crossing to win. |

Ranbuild Maiden Plate 1600m
Without a designated pacemaker it will probably turn into a dash home. As is the theme of the day, most of the main chances come out, leaving SHEISTHEBOSS (8) on top. She's lightly raced and was okay first up at Seymour over 1400m, finishing a three-length sixth. Fitter now and the rise in trip will suit having handled heavy ground well enough before. NEW PROSPECT (3) might be the danger. He was poor at Pakenham Synthetic last time but had been good prior on a soft 7 at Murtoa and draws for a good run here. ZHOU SHU (4) hasn't quite fired in two runs back but should be better for them and up to a mile suits nicely now. Can improve. TIGER FOX (11) is a query on heavy but unknown - up in trip looks suitable as well and he could sneak a place. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sheistheboss to win. |

Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Maiden Plate 1400m
Without an obvious leader, it may be left to My Alpha Sonic, Clux Star and Saint Fox to control the tempo. SAINT FOX (11) is a Frankel colt who ran well on debut at Geelong when in the market, sticking on nicely for third behind a smart winner. Better for that and 1400m will suit ideally. With scratchings taking away some key dangers he's very well placed. JUST LIKE JAGGER (6) has been good in three runs to date, handling heavy well enough on debut before a costly defeat at Mildura. Did a bit wrong last time at Geelong but is showing ability and will take beating. FARSIDE (5) wasn't beaten all that far first up at Seymour in a decent maiden. He'll strip fitter for that and maps well up on speed. CLUX STAR (8) backs up quickly and will be rock hard fit which helps. SUGGESTED PLAY: Saint Fox to win. |

Electric Elvis should spear straight to the front of the small field. Hard to go past the fit, in-form ELECTRIC ELVIS (2) who was well backed here last time out and proved far too strong sitting on a genuine tempo, coming away to score by 2.75 lengths. He'd been well backed in town prior too and with any luck from out wide he'll go close again. Into a very short quote now but it doesn't look unfair - he should win. MASTER OF THE AIR (6) resumes, now with the Bedggood stable (formerly Chris Waller). He was contesting strong 3yo races last time in and keep a close on the betting for the sharp yard. INVISIBLE MAGIC (15) and CINDY FALLS (12) were both beaten convincingly by Electric Elvis at their past start but have place claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Electric Elvis to win again. |

Written Glow is expected to lead at a keen tempo. COL KLINK (1) resumes having won his only start last time in, scoring a maiden victory at Geelong as the $1.50 favourite. Since spelled again but has won a jumpout and can make his presence felt, albeit heavy ground is an unknown. SHAPENAPIT (6) resumed with a nice maiden win as favourite here, settling just off the pace and getting the upper hand late. Has done little wrong to date and respecting the Begg yard. GOLDEN PULSE (11) resumes having shown ability last time in, a good winner on debut before tackling a strong 2yo race. Late betting will be key but respecting. GINA'S A STAR (1) has been good her past two on heavy and she'll be up on speed, tough to beat despite a gap between runs. SUGGESTED PLAY: Col Klink on top. |

Weapon Clear, Call To Glory and Cumboogle to take up the running at a decent tempo. DREAMZEL (1) won by the barest of margins last time at Sandown Hillside before another tough effort there when third in similar company. Still put up a good figure there and is very consistent at this trip. She'll land on speed and looks well placed to bounce back. CALL TO GLORY (2) disappointed here as a $3 chance last time out but had been going well enough prior and fresh for this can see him bounce back. WEAPON CLEAR (8) was behind Dreamzel last time but was in the market there and can improve again. ALWAYS ENUFF (3) resumes. She's a heavy track winner and an 1000m specialist who will be hard to hold out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Dreamzel to win. |

Blazing Sword and Zebra Finch will settle forward and can set a moderate tempo. ZORRO'S FLIGHT (7) can bounce back. He was firmly in the market in Saturday company last time at Caulfield Heath but didn't have the best of runs and finished near the tail. The win prior at Sale was strong and this is far more suitable back to a mile and back in grade. ZEBRA FINCH (8) led and won a four horse race two back, good again last time behind an in-form horse at Caulfield Heath. He maps nicely and can return to winning ways. LAKE VOSTOK (10) hasn't fired in three runs this time in but does typically like heavy ground and comes back a notch here. Shinn goes on and her best is good enough. RAGING BULL (1) will be strong late back in trip and that might not be a bad idea on this ground. SUGGESTED PLAY: Zorro's Flight to win. |
