NUM TIME COMMENT

Several of these have good gate speed so a strong tempo is expected. SOMERSAULT (8) hasn't raced since finishing 2.25 lengths back in fourth over 1400m at Sandown on Jan 8. Placed in three runs at around this trip the three starts prior and has been trialling up well ahead of this. TAGAMATE (6) is close to breaking through after finishing third last start over 1200m at Sandown. Ideally placed and is sure to play a pivotal role. BRADFORD (2) resumes, having finished sixth over 1200m at Pakenham at the latest appearance on February 5. Fitter for two trials, placing most recently. Shapes as one to consider. CALEXPO (3) is a gelding by Mehmas who cost GNS 270,000 in the UK as a yearling. Spotting maturing to his Southern Hemisphere rivals, so might have more upside than a few of these and be better later but looks to have talent. BJORSON (1) is a local who's been trialling well and gets the all-important inside alley.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Somersault to win.
2 01:30 The Man Walk Geelong 2YO Maiden Plate 1125m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a genuine tempo. DELAHRA (7) Doubtland filly from Bulahdelah Miss on debut. Recent on-pace Caulfield trial win has her primed for a big debut. Can make an impact. GOLD CHALICE (4) is a $1m yearling by leading sire Snitzel from the stakes-winner Harlow Gold. Was given his most serious hitout at the latest jumpout and attacked the line nicely. Worth noting he's Craig Williams' only ride for the day. Well placed and everything points towards a big run. BOOM BOSS (1) might get run off his feet early but will attack the line if his last jumpout is any guide. Include. VIXEN VIBES (15) trialled well and then was a respectable second on debut at Morphettville over 1100m. Will take valuable race experience from that outing. In the mix. BOOM BOSS (1) is a colt by Spirit Of Boom out of Envy Of All making his first appearance. Progressed nicely to take out his most recent trial with today's rider Logan Bates steering. Among the leading chances.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Trifecta 7,4,1,15.
3 02:00 Geelong Financial Group 3YO Maiden Plate 1425m
Not a big field but many face the starter for the first time so the pace should be genuine. PRAY TELL (3) wound up strongly last time out to finish 1.5 lengths adrift in second over 1200m at Sandown on debut. It looks the right form, which will be tested earlier in the meeting with third placegetter Tagamate going around in the first. DE ASCOT (1) hasn't trialled as sharply as some from the Price/Kent stable, but they always need to be respected with first starters. SHADES OF STARDOM (4) returned from a spell three-and-a-half weeks ago when he was beaten 10 lengths into fourth over 1200m at Hamilton. Meeting a deeper field this time but he cannot be taken lightly with extra fitness under the belt. THINK ABOUT HER (8) didn't do a lot on debut five-and-a-half weeks ago, finishing eighth over 1214m at Moe. Plenty of scope for improvement. Expected to do more.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Pray Tell to win.
4 02:30 The Man Walk Torquay Maiden Plate 1425m
Expecting French Gift to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. FRENCH GIFT (5) returned last time with a solid second at Pakenham over 1400m after being in contention on the corner. The winner of that race won at Caulfield on Wednesday and he's proven on a Heavy track, so any rain would not hurt. AQUA STORM (2) ran well first up at Swan Hill and is probably better suited up to 1400m here, but that's now three starts for three defeats as a short-priced, so punters might be a bit shy going again. ZETHEROS (8) was beaten a long neck into second at Stawell two starts ago then finished 3.5 lengths from the winner in fourth last time at Donald. Not far off a win and rates highly on his best form. ALLUMEUSE (1) jumps to 1400m after a couple of runs at 1100m, so might improve.  SUGGESTED PLAY: French Gift to win.
5 03:00 RMBL Investments Rising Stars Race 1425m
Eleanor Dumont to take up the running at a moderate tempo. Heat of the Rising Stars Series for apprentices, which means the 3kg claim for Shayleigh Ingelse aboard ELEANOR DUMONT (1) might hold extra weight, so to speak. Been in great form this prep, draws well and is a Heavy track winner. ARIZONA LUCK (11) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when fourth, beaten 1.75 lengths, over 1200m at Swan Hill. Should be ready to go now. QUEENSBURY (2) turned in a nice effort last time out at the second run of the campaign and finished just 1.75 lengths from the winner in second over 1400m at Pakenham. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. DOBKINS (4) ran below expectations last start, finishing fifth at Casterton over 1200m. Suitably placed so anticipating a better run this time. Each-way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Eleanor Dumont.
6 03:30 The Abbotswood Motor Inn BM66 Handicap 2440m
Nothin' Wong Here can slide across and take up the running in a race devoid of early pace. GENRICHERO (6) settled well back last time out then found the line strongly to finish 9 lengths away in fifth over 2100m at Sandown. Look for another barnstorming finish. OMAMORI (8) has been building all campaign and only just missed last time at Moe. That was over 2400m, which will have brought him on for this. CUSTOMER SERVICE (3) improved last time out, finishing 4 lengths from the winner in third when he made late ground at the end of 2000m at Mornington. Ideally placed and is sure to be there at the finish. FERAGO (1) is back from a couple of jumps runs and still more than capable on the flat in this company.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 6,8,3,1.
7 04:00 Strength in Community BM62 Handicap 1733m
Plenty of pace from Caleana, Champagne Jenni and Ballon D'or ahead of Noble Steed. CALEANA (6) has put together back-to-back placings, the latest when half a length away in second over 1700m at this track. Tackling a deeper field this time but he is capable of running a bold race. CHAMPAGNE JENNI (1) ran a nice race at the first start for a new stable last time and has won second-up in the past. With a little improvement can take this out. CEREMONIOUS (7) got the confidence back at the picnics two back but backed that up in 62 grade here last start, when beaten in a photo. Include. IMPENDING SWAN (13) broke her maiden last start over 1620m at Donald, scoring by 1.3 lengths. Harder this time but still one to consider.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 6,1,7,13.
8 04:30 Right Mate 0-66 Handicap 1225m
Strong tempo assured from Whiskey Joe and Tori's Dee leading the charge. WHISKEY JOE (11) is a blueblood colt who looks the most progressive horse in the race and he rounded preparations for this with a nice Cranbourne jumpout win. IMPENDING WAR (1) hasn't really kicked on as a 3YO but the first-up run was in a tougher race than this and he won the Elvstroem Classic second-up this time last year, so deserves another chance. KAGEMUSHA (2) is also a second-up winner and the bold first-up effort suggests he'll carry on the consistent form of last prep. RIPROAR (4) wasn't disgraced in city class last time when finishing fourth at Sandown-Lakeside. Will find this easier than last start and is one to consider.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Whiskey Joe to win.
