TAB COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE 1010m
Another Bling might not get things his own way up front with a few first starters lining up. Headwater filly PRESTIGE AUSTRIA (8) debuts for the local Lee stable. Won a trial at Grafton on 16 May after a quiet one here a month earlier. Draws the fence and looks a big chance in a race where the exposed form is pretty dismal. Another Lee runner in LAND SPEED (3) last raced almost a year ago when beaten a long way into fourth over 1100m at Hawkesbury. Can finish a lot closer in this far easier contest if forward enough. HERE'S BEAU (2) is a first starter from the John Shelton barn. Placed in a recent Grafton trial and looks good enough to make his presence felt. WASHIK (7) next best but it is hard to see her winning. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Prestige Austria. |

MULCAHY LAWYERS & CONVEYANCERS CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
Expecting a moderate pace headed by Listing Capital and Shamolatte. LISTING CAPITAL (8) led and was only nailed close to home when resuming over 1200m at Ipswich two back in soft going. Over-raced last start and dropped right out at the Gold Coast in a run worth overlooking. Can bounce back with the blinkers going on for the first time. DEVINE SQUIRE (5) made steady ground to finish third in a strong Gold Coast maiden over 1200m on 22 May. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and the addition of blinkers should liven things up. Will be hard to hold out over the extra 100m today. SENSE OF DUTY (2) is a gelding by Flying Artie on debut. Has been trialling well enough to be competitive on debut. COCCINELLA (3) wasn't beaten too far over a similar trip to this on debut so the distance drop may suit. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing the two with blinkers going on - Listing Capital and Devine Squire. |

HARTLEYS FRESH MARKET BALLINA FAIR F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
Without frontrunners engaged Escape Beach gets the chance to lead. Just two runners left in a race that has been hammered by scratchings but there doesn't look to be a lot between them so it sets up as in interesting match race. ESCAPE BEACH (9) comes off a sixth when resuming at Ipswich but will strip fitter for that hitout. The opponent is first up so it gives her the fitness edge and that may prove decisive. Her lone win came the only time she raced on a soft track. Happy to go her way. QUEEN OF LIGHT (1) makes her first appearance since January when she finished runner-up at Ipswich. May give away some fitness to her rival but she was readied with a city trial and that should have her ready to go. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Escape Beach. |

TAB COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1010m
Back On De Quo should lead at a strong tempo. DANCE GAVIN DANCE (1) recorded two comfortable wins over today's course and distance then was thrown in the deep end in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas last start and failed. Back in a more suitable race today and can return to winning ways. DEEP STEALTH (6) caught the eye when fresh from a spell over this trip at Port Macquarie last time out, making up many lengths to be beaten narrowly. Loves racing here and has placed at both second-up runs. Hard to fault the profile. BACK ON DE QUO (3) is a track specialist coming off an eight-week freshen-up. Must be considered carefully along with GOT THE SMARTS (9) who strips fitter second-up and is not out of calculations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Dance Gavin Dance. |

MCGRATH NORTHERN RIVERS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1550m
Pace only fair with Weekend Artist rolling to the lead ahead of Sinatra and Prestige Ice. PRESTIGE ICE (12) has put the writing on the wall at her last couple of appearances, the latest effort a close third over 1700m at Ipswich when coming off a 37-day break. That run will top her off nicely. Just needs luck slotting in from a tricky draw to end the run of outs. WEXFORD MISS (9) has been found wanting in her four runs this prep but on a quicker back-up today she could spring a surprise. TRIPLE TIME (5) is a new arrival in the Allan Chau stable and returns from a 14-week break. Betting holds the key. CALVARY (1) showed improvement to place last start. Strips fitter again third-up so may progress further. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Prestige Ice. |

LENNOX HOTEL LENNOX CUP BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 1200m
Cracking tempo looks assured with many of these capable of pushing on early. TOO HOT TO TORQUE (6) beat all but an in-form Dance Gavin Dance first-up at this track then repaid favourite backers when a tidy winner over 1206m at Port Macquarie last start. That run followed a five-week let-up so he should tighten up further. Hard to tip against. BRING ME SAKI (5) was 54 days between runs when down the track in a 1200m Randwick Highway last time out. Scored in a Class 2 the run prior at Grafton. Nicely drawn and in the right race to return to form. VIXENETTE (10) made some late inroads but was never a factor first-up over 1200m at the Gold Coast recently. Won't find this as tough so a better run is anticipated. PATRIOTICINTENTION (2) is in the mix again following back-to-back wins. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Too Hot To Torque. |

BALLINA RSL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
Expecting Storm Merchant to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. STORM MERCHANT (1) has led for the judge at both runs this prep but been overhauled late on each occasion, most recently over 1206m at Port Macquarie on a heavy track. Lightly raced three-year-old who is still improving. Has the gate speed to cross from out wide and should take plenty of catching. DECADAD (6) might be better off on the poly tracks but is racing in good style so is an each-way hope. RHETORIC (4) put the writing on the wall with back-to-back placings before delivering last start. In good form and could go on with the job. Last-start placegetter DARLING TAKE CARE (11) is capable of playing a role again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Storm Merchant to win the last. |
