XXXX GOLD CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1900m
Distinct lack of speed here in the small field. GYPSY WISH (7) was in the money two starts back at Gold Coast but couldn't back it up last time when sixth over a longer journey. Perhaps didn't run the trip last time, so happy to see her dropping back. Won't find this as tough. CLASSIC SHIRAZ (4) was a dominant winner two back then made good ground late after turning a mile off them at the Gold Coast. Ticking along nicely and rates the main danger. FRICTIONAL FORCE (8) did well last start but found a couple better over 2245m at Grafton, beaten only 1.3 lengths. Strips rock-hard fit now and should be making his presence felt again. KISS'N DANCE (1) has been warming nicely late without threatening. If he can settle closer to the action from the inside pillar he's right in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Gypsy Wish gets the nod. |

TAB VENUE MODE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
Babe Roth has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. Thin maiden. LYRICAL GANGSTER (1) is a Deep Field gelding on debut for the Lee stable. Has shown enough in his lead-up work to suggest he can make a bright start in what looks a thin maiden. NEW BEGINNINGS (3) only just missed in testing conditions on debut. Is yet to go on with it but doesn't find a deep maiden, so is worth some thought. BABE ROTH (2) didn't get involved on debut but is open to improvement with that run out of the way. Can sneak a minor spot with improvement. ECCASDASH (5) returns and looks best of the rest. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lyrical Gangster to win. |

VIVA RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m
Navy Kiss to take charge ahead of Legin at a good tempo. NAVY KISS (1) started favourite last time over this trip at Beaudesert but found one better, making it two minor placings from three career starts. Gets his chance to break through. MONTE CARLO MISS (4) showed good early dash and raced on the speed last start before fading to finish back in fifth over this journey at the Gold Coast. Fitter and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside pillar. Bold showing anticipated. LEGIN (3) showed good early dash before weakening to finish fifth over 1590m at Ballina last time out. Is better than that last run suggests and is a chance to fill the frame fourth-up. STRENUOUS (10) struggled to get through the heavy conditions at Ipswich fresh. Better with that run under his belt and gets in light with the 3kg claimer engaged. Not dismissing completely. SUGGESTED PLAY: Navy Kiss to win. |

NORTHERN RIVERS CONCRETING BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 1300m
Solid tempo with Spills leading from Devious Mind and Prestige Gundy. PRESTIGE GUNDY (4) progressed nicely last time out at the second run of the campaign when he made late ground to finish less than a length away from the winner at Ipswich. At his top now and can find winning ways. HERALD ANGEL (8) drifted well back when resuming last start before winding up strongly to just miss when second over 1010m at Murwillumbah. Strips fitter and will appreciate the added trip. SCOUNDREL (5) didn't fire a shot fresh when tackling much tougher company at Doomben. Much better placed dropping back to this level and should improve with that run under his belt. HE'S A COPY BOY (7) caught the eye late when resuming at Grafton. Better for that and is among the better hopes. SUGGESTED PLAY: Prestige Gundy to win. |

WESTPAC RESCUE HELICOPTER SERVICE BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 1000m
Dizzy Dee and Bad Forest possess good early speed. WINCHMAN (1) has returned in good order this preparation. Opened with a narrow second at Ipswich two starts back then scored last time out over this trip at the Gold Coast. Gets an important 3kg claim and can repeat the dose. DANCE GAVIN DANCE (6) never posed a threat two back in the G3 Gold Coast Guineas but was much better placed last time when finishing third at Murwillumbah. Gets weight off with the slight rise in grade and will appreciate reuniting with Peisley. BAD FOREST (5) didn't threaten at Doomben last time out after a gutsy win the start prior. Mixing his form but is one to consider. BRING ME SAKI (4) has been below his best in his last two but has earlier form that measures up. Draws the A1 and is worth keeping safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Winchman gets the nod. |

OATENS COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400m
Strong tempo with Dark Stratum and Fred's Memory leading from Permission Denied and Gaming. LOFTY MACSPORRAN (2) got home strongly as favourite last time at Grafton but ultimately left himself with too much to do. Still lightly raced and has more to offer. ANDROS (6) flashed home to just miss last time at Grafton after making the turn near last. Can settle closer from the kinder draw this time and is a genuine winning chance. MONARCH EXPRESS (3) was much better last time when chasing gamely into fourth. Keeps an important 3kg claim and is in the mix. SECRET KEEPER (5) battled on gamely into second when resuming at Port Macquarie. Better for that and is right in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lofty Macsporran to win. |
