NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:45 GOSFORD AIR CONDITIONING PROVINCIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Moderate tempo with Charm Destination leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. LOVE YOU ANYWAY (9) finally finds a winnable race at start twenty. Covered ground from the wide draw and never surrendered with a tough second over 1100m at Gosford. Claim helps again from a better gate and sure to go close. AVALON (5) Maurice filly out of No Comment on debut for the Kim Waugh yard. Trained locally and the latest trial placing here over 1000m had merit. SOUTHPORT (4) kept safe in betting first-up when drifted back early before finishing a long fourth over 1100m here. Strips fitter from a better draw and can turn his form around today. CHARM DESTINATION (1) better run at his second outing with a fading third over 1100m here. Will appreciate the claim again on a heavy surface.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 9,5,4.
2 01:20 COTTER ACCOUNTANTS 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350m
Street Jewel to take charge ahead of Ultimate Warrior at a strong tempo. IMINASTATE (4) no match for Tron Bolt two-back from a wide gate, then chipped away late to secure third in a small field over 1400m at Rosehill. Hard fit now and can race a little closer from the low gate. Solid top-three contender. DIVINE OFFERING (2) returned a solid set of figures on debut when he came from near last on the turn to finish third over 1250m at Canterbury. Will benefit from that experience and shouldn't be a Maiden for long. STREET JEWEL (8) showed good early gate speed on debut before tiring to run fifth over 1100m at Gosford. Will hold a forward position today and expected to go close. ULTIMATE WARRIOR (5) given every chance on debut from the inside gate before tiring to run seventh over 1250m at Canterbury. Tricky map today and likely to go back and be ridden for luck. Place best.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Iminastate each-way.
3 01:55 MERCURE KOOINDAH WATERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350m
Sparkle Socks has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. LAST TOUR (6) fifth-up for this and back in trip last start with a disappointing fifth to the smart Tannin over 1200m at Gosford from the rails draw. Key jockey change and assess on his earlier runs. Can finish over the top of these. ORANGE TSUNAMI (3) found them too sharp first-up with the 59kg when seventh over 1100m at Gosford. Lee Magorrian sticks and not without each-way prospects over the extra ground. PROXIMA CENTAURI (7) failed to come up in three runs in her first prep and returns from a lengthy break. Comes here with the two trials under the belt and expecting a better showing this time in. GONDORFF (2) jumped at long odds at debut and ran accordingly when sixth over 1100m here. Extra trip in his favour and can take a hand in the finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 6,3,7.
4 02:35 SPELLING AT DOMELAND CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350m
Strong tempo to be established by Onmalone, Spiv and Miss Dee Reign. SAPLING (8) progressive filly who can stamp her authority here. Ridden aggressively when three weeks between runs with a tiring fourth over 1300m at Hawkesbury. Can overcome the sticky gate with the blinkers going on. SPIV (6) failed to back up his good Maiden win two-back, when raced too keenly as the ($1.40 fav) for a fading sixth over 1625m here last time. Back in trip with the 3kg claim and shapes as the main danger. ONMALONE (2) strengthened over the break with a tough victory over 1200m at this track. Looked to have plenty up the sleeve on that occasion and expected to go on with it this campaign. GONG GIRL (11) got the prize two runs back, then a month between runs with a tiring sixth over 1200m at Newcastle. Has the speed to get across from the wide gate and must be kept safe.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sapling has the talent to overcome the wide barrier.
5 03:10 DE BORTOLI WINES MIDWAY BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1300m
Not much early pressure but Koios, Fine Wine and Debello can take up forward spots. TOTOKA (7) demolished a solid field here last start when back in trip over 1200m at this track in BM64 grade. Jumps into the stalking position and can repeat the effort over the extra trip. KOIOS (3) is starting to hit his straps and winning apprentice retains the ride. Kept finding in the heavy conditions to get the job done in a tight finish over 1250m at Taree. Proven at this level and stays in the calculations. DEBELLO (2) resumes. Has won first-up in the past and has a good record over this course and distance. Recent trial winner and not to be overlooked. FINE WINE (11) drops in weight for this after she was comfortably held by Totoka when fourth over 1200m here. Minor place chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Totoka looks too good again.
6 03:45 RANVET BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1000m
The Wolf, Gail Jeanette and Apollo Ridge to battle for the lead at a strong tempo. SMILING PROPHET (12) has good credentials over this track and trip and will appreciate the fast tempo with the senior rider going aboard fourth-up. Back in trip and launched late with a creditable sixth over 900m at Newcastle. No shock to see her finish over the top of these. GAIL JEANETTE (9) smart Bathurst-trained mare building a good winning CV. Up sharply in grade with a slick on-pace win over 1000m at Dubbo in fast time. Deserves her shot here and not without place prospects. THE WOLF (1) comes to the provincials for the first time this campaign after running second over 1010m at Port Macquarie. Will roll forward and give cheek with the 2kg claimer aboard. INDECISIVE (3) improving gelding who demolished a handy field in C1 grade over this track and trip second-up. Has a stack of upside and out wide could be the best part of the track at this stage of the day.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 12,9,1.
7 04:25 PRE-TRAINING AT DOMELAND CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600m
Pace genuine with Italus and Matchsticks pressing hard closely followed by Master Of War and So You Ready. FIERCENESS (3) is ready for the 1600m now and gets in light with the 3kg claim. Returned good closing splits to flash late and secure second over 1400m at Newcastle. Can stalk the good tempo and prove hard to hold out. MASTER OF WAR (7) another from the Matt Smith yard desperate to shed his Maiden tag. Showed a stack of fight when jumped in trip for a gritty on-pace second over 1800m at Hawkesbury. Comes back in trip and will prove hard to get past. MATCHSTICKS (6) found the 1200m too sharp second-up with a fading eighth at this track. Bred to get the trip and not without top-four claims. ITALUS (4) big improver at his second race start when taken to the front for a tough Maiden win over 1400m at Bathurst in the heavy conditions. Deserves his chance here and must be kept safe.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Fierceness in a competitive contest.
