NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:30 Global Turf Maiden Plate 1600m
Without a recognised leader, It's All Calm and Insubordinate will likely set the pace. IT'S ALL CALM (7) has only had the two starts but finished fourth at Kyneton over 1479m last start when first-up, beaten 4 lengths. Will be better for that outing, which suggested the step up to this prep would be of benefit and this does look a race with a long tail. INSUBORDINATE (6) is also drawn out but has improvement to come, having resumed from a spell last start when a three-length seventh over 1300m at Warrnambool. SHARE THE PENNIES (11) hit the frame two starts ago at Seymour but ran below par last time when sixth and beaten 8 lengths over 1600m at this track. This is a nice drop in grade so she is perfectly placed to improve. LADY OF STEEL (8) ran a better race last start, finishing 1.5 lengths away in fourth over 1600m at Ararat and has a fitness edge on most rivals here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: It's All Calm to win.
2 02:00 Manhari Maiden Plate 1600m
They should run this along with What About Junior and Wonderdownunder taking it up over Emperor Tzu. WONDERDOWNUNDER (8) has improved at each of his three runs and only found one better last start. Draws well here and the benefit of a run at 1600m could prove vital. WHAT ABOUT JUNIOR (7) hadn't done a lot at the jumpouts before the debut but was kept safe there and might not have loved the Heavy track. Better ground here suits, as does the rise in trip for the son of Fiorente. CUSHIONED (10) was tested in town first-up and while never a factor, she'll be fitter and better suited here despite the wide gate. Also gets the blinkers, which could spark improvement. LUFITAAH (11) disappointed first-up when heavily-backed to start odds-on, but jumped out too well prior to write off. Best give another chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Wonderdownunder to win.
3 02:30 Sportsbet Up & Coming Stars Series Heat 5 1400m
Hughie's Spirit to take up the running with Mykindakandy and Mahmudah close at hand. Rich maiden that is part of the Up & Coming Series and a number of the combatants come through the same races, one over 1200m at Caulfield and another over 1300m at Ararat. The Caulfield one naturally looks stronger and HOT SAND (4) was first home of those engaged here. He was specked at decent odds and was strong through the line, so the step to 1400m looks a plus. GENOMIC (3) did pull ground off Hot Sand late, though, and he was on debut there so he's probably open to even more improvement. OYSTER LANE (7) split Hot Sand and Geonomic but he did appear to have every chance on-speed but gets the chance to dictate again from the inside alley. CORVIGLIA (2) made debut four months ago at Pakenham when finished third, beaten only 1.25 lengths when well-backed. Fitter for recent trials and should be in the mix fresh. LIVE FOREVER (5) finished like Chatauqua to just miss in the Ararat race. He's the horse to take out of that race, especially up to 1400m.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Genomic and Hot Sand quinella.
4 03:00 Tobin Brothers Funerals Maiden Plate 1200m
Expecting Stormyfriendship to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. CATWALK ICON (10) started hard in the market all three runs in the debut campaign when it all might have come a bit too soon for her. A couple of recent trial wins suggest she's come back in fine style and draws to play a prominent role throughout. PRESTIGE ERICK (8) has had the two runs, beaten less than a length although unplaced on debut and then hit the line stylishly last start over 1100m. Will appreciate the extra distance here and doesn't have to get as far back from the low draw. Similarly, BLUE LIGHT DISCO (1) showed improvement from the debut to second-up and should give this a shake if there's any level of improvement out of the most recent run. JOIN THE QUE (3) hasn't placed in three runs to date, but two recent jumpout wins hint his best performance yet could be on the cards here. OLE ROYALE (6) comes through the same race as Blue Light Disco and has some ground to make up on that galloper from a wide gate but will have benefitted from the outing.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Catwalk Icon to win.
5 03:30 MRC 150 Years 0 - 62 Handicap 1200m
Pace strong with Stellar Mofeed and Istriano leading with Fugacity nearby. STELLAR MOFEED (6) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start when she settled well back over 1200m at Caulfield Heath, beaten 6 lengths in sixth. That was in BM74 grade, though, so the drop back to 0-62 company suits and she's drawn to take up a prominent spot. DISCREET POINT (1) hasn’t been far away since a maiden win three runs back, the latest effort a third over 1200m at Pakenham in Class 1 company. This is probably a touch easier than that. ISTRIANO (2) impressed when successful on debut over 1200m at Swan Hill five months ago and has not raced since. Has since been kept ticking over with a Flemington trial placing. MRS BUTT'S BOATS (3) is another who was put away after a last-start win and there's been a lot to like about the way he's performing at the jumpouts. Hard to see BILLUND (5) turning the tables on Discreet Point from last start, but he'll be fitter for two runs back and has drawn favourably.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stellar Mofeed to win.
6 04:00 Hygain Edge 0 - 62 Handicap 1000m
Wingsandpropellers and Cheeky Contiki possess good early speed. VILLA CAPITALISTA (4) is a horse that's always appeared to have had talent but might have just taken some time putting it all together. Looked pretty good breaking the maiden last start and the confidence from that could carry him to another win, especially from this favourable draw. CHEEKY CONTIKI (7) resumes after disappointing as favourite following a nice maiden win but recent jumpouts suggest he's come back well. UNOBSCURED (8) was well fancied when resuming at Sale but disappointed. Had jumped out well prior and was tested in some handy races last time, so it might pay to give her another go. STEAMY MIST (9) missed the frame when resuming last start over 1000m at Pakenham but wasn't all that far from the winner. Races well when second-up and can feature.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Villa Capitalista to win.
7 04:30 Sportsbet Same Race Multi 0 - 62 Handicap (QC) 1500m
Treasureflight has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. KAWA (8) could only manage fifth when resuming two runs back then improved last start when she found a couple better over 1400m at Horsham but was only beaten 0.6 lengths. With those two runs under her belt and on the home deck she can turn in a career peak. POSITIVO (3) bounced back last start and scored by 2.25 lengths as public elect over 1600m at Echuca, which was just another good showing in a consistent run of form. He's racing too well to leave out. TREASUREFLIGHT (4) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 1400m at this track, beaten 7 lengths, but strips fitter and has the talent to win this with the right run from the tricky wide draw. ALOYSIUS (1) returned from a spell when he was beaten 3.5 lengths into fifth over 1200m at this track at his first run for the new stable. Fitter for that and up 300m, which looks a nice equation. GARFIELD (7) is on the back-up after a nice return at Kyneton and can improve again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kawa each-way
8 05:00 Mitch Freedman Racing 0 - 62 Handicap 2042m
Just a moderate speed anticipated given the absence of on-pace gallopers. CONVO (10) is finding it hard to win, but it's hard to fault the form this preparation. She's had six starts and hasn't finished further back than fifth, which was last start in 66 grade. Drops back to 62 company here, draws well and regains John Allen, who had a good association with her mum Kenedna. LE TROISIR (1) was below his best last time out when beaten 4.5 lengths over 2000m at Pakenham. Better for the run at that trip though and should be ready to fire fourth-up. MOZU MARCASSIN (2) is another who's racing well but struggling to break through and while he's got out beyond this trip already this prep, the blinkers go on here which could sharpen him up. PROSHOW (3) finished third last start over 1627m at Sale when he worked home well, beaten 7 lengths. This is the right race and can find winning form.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Convo each-way.
